Using REAL Wifi-Direct to mirror my PC screen on Android Posted: 07 Jun 2020 10:11 AM PDT Hello, So I'm looking for something that i can't manage to find. Maybe it doesn't exist or isn't possible. My real goal it's just to play games in my bed, so i want mirror my pc screen on my phone. I know their is a tone of apps that can do that BUT they all require the pc and the phone to be on the same network, something i can't do because i'm in a university accommodation where i can't connect my phone and my pc to the same network. Would this phone work in Europe? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 07:00 AM PDT Hello, Sorry for the dumb question. I spent literally hours trying to understand the terminology, and still can't figure out by myself. I wonder if this phone would work in Norway, with a Norwegian simcard. I'm very confused. The title says "unlocked" but carrier says "Sprint locked". In the description, the cellular band is GSM, which as I understood should work in Norway? But "Sprint locked" means it doesn't? Sorry for this mess. Thanks for your help. [link] [comments] |

Pictures sent via WhatsApp and downloaded are disappearing from gallery when deleted in chat Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:14 AM PDT So guys, my grandma said that her pictures kept disappearing from the gallery, I went to check and I fact when someone sends pictures to her on WhatsApp and then deletes the message the pictures disappears from the gallery, even when it was downloaded fully. Anyone know why this is happening or how to fix this? I tried turning off the auto save for pictures from whatsapp and downloading them manually and they still disappear. They are not in the WhatsApp folder or the deleted folder in the gallery, they simply disappear. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Does any software like this exist? Posted: 06 Jun 2020 06:18 PM PDT I use an old phone as a head unit in my car. I use different streaming software and music/podcast playback softwares. All of them have different volumes out. I have tweaked and adjusted till I want to scream and still some are too faint to hear without turning the amp all the way up, and others blast my face off at 1/4 volume. Is there anything that will run in the background and equalize the volume out from all the various sources? I found a utility that evened out the volumes for all the MP3 files I listen to in the car, and that has been a godsend. Does anything like what I'm describing exist? [link] [comments] |
Camera app instantly crashes, in use by another application? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:07 AM PDT Phone: Galaxy Note 8 For the past, probably almost a year now, the camera on my Galaxy Note 8 has not been functional. The flashlight also will not work. They both worked fine for the first few weeks, but now if i try to open the camera app, the app instantly crashes, showing the following message for a split second: "You cannot use more than one application that uses Camera at the same time. Camera will now close." If I, for instance, use an app that has a camera function, the app either crashes when it tries to use my camera, like discord, or shows a black screen and gives a few warnings, like snapchat. Flashlight is connected to camera, and suffers likewise. What ive tried: Restarting phone Force stop all apps Clearing app cache Using safe mode (persists in safe mode) Scanning my phone for viruses Uninstalling recently installed apps The only thing I havent done is factory reset my phone, but I have a lot of important things, like 2-Step Verification, that i would, obviously, rather not lose. I was hoping someone here would know an answer to my problem. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:00 AM PDT Hello. I've had my s10e for a week now. Love the phone, but just noticed something that is really bugging me now.. Where the display meets the bezel, there is a thin gap. When in direct sunlight, light goes in this "gap" and bounces around as i move the phone. I have linked some pictures and a short vid: https://imgur.com/a/JbAoity Is it a defect? [link] [comments] |

Any tips for improving performance of a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) (SM-T290)? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 11:24 AM PDT I'm just wanting to get the most out of this tablet. I'm pretty happy with it except I wish scrolling with touch was smoother and that apps performed a bit better. I realize that it is a budget tablet, but would still like advice on how to squeeze every last drop of performance out of it. I looked at XDA and noticed that people do have the device rooted, but there is just a test build of Android 9.0 and that is about it. Is there any benefit to rooting if I'm not going to run a custom firmware? What I've done so far that seems to have had a positive effect on performance:
I honestly don't care about battery life. It gets plenty and I would take more performance over more battery. Thank you for your input! This is my first Android device. Well, I had a Nexus 4 briefly but that was ages ago it feels like. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 05:21 AM PDT I bought the game stardew valley yesterday, which has a pretty nice discount now. After the payment I received an error in the app store. After restarting the app store it still didn't show as paid for. The money however has been taken off my bank account. I've checked within the app store transaction overview and it doesn't show as bought. Wondering who to contact to either get the money back as soon as possible so I can buy it again while it still is on discount or just get the app. [link] [comments] |
Media audio also becomes call audio when on a call Posted: 07 Jun 2020 10:13 AM PDT So as the title says, whenever I'm on a call, audio from media apps like youtube or my music player becomes call audio, which makes it sound very bad. Is there any fix to this? I'm on a Huawei P30 Pro Android 10 using Haylou GT1Pro bluetooth earbuds [link] [comments] |
Why doesn't clearing up certain apps data free up space? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 10:04 AM PDT (Moto G5s) I had a bunch of albums saved on my phone through Spotify so it had made the app quite large in my storage. 10,86GB to be exact. Now the info specifies that the app itself takes up 75MB and my own data is what adds the extra 10GB+. I've cleared it several times, restarted the phone after doing so. I've even reinstalled it. Any suggestions? Or is it specifically a Spotify thing? [link] [comments] |
Hoos to display hdmi output on android device with usb type c Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:52 AM PDT I am planning to use my android as portable display for my DVR unit [link] [comments] |
Android 10 - Nokia 7.2 keeps rebooting. Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:50 AM PDT Have the phone about 3 weeks (Ireland), and at least twice, sometimes 3 times a day it restarts itself, and deletes everything I was doing. No system updates waiting. A "carrier services" warning repeatedly keeps popping up in a row once It comes back on, and randomly during the day saying Google play services needs my attention - and it just keeps bringing me to Google play Store main screen. [Rant/Help] My Note 8 might be on it's last legs and I need help with a decision... Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:20 AM PDT I was very happy with my Note 8 when I got it, and, in spite of some of the issues I've had with the fact that Samsung isn't stock Android, I haven't had a lot of regret about it. However, the device is getting older and I have been fine with using it for as long as I can. Recently (about two to three months ago) I began having issues with the charging port until it eventually failed entirely. I never really had to deal with phone repairs. The local tech guy I trust doesn't do phones so he referred me to Staples. Staples didn't repair it on site, so I had to wait a week and a half without a phone while they fixed it. They also made me sign something releasing them from liability from any damage to the phone. In the end, when I got it back, the new charging port seemed to be working fine and I assumed I'd be able to keep the phone for another year or two before worrying about having to get something new. Yesterday I noticed my phone was again having issues with the charging port. It hasn't failed completely, but it keeps telling me it's not getting enough charge and giving full charge estimates of 25 hours. It charges wirelessly just fine. Honestly I don't want to deal with Staples again. My expectation is that they will offer to repair it again, but I don't want to deal with another week and a half of waiting, only to possibly have to deal with yet another faulty charging pin. I use my phone too much to be comfortable with wireless charging only. Even though I use it a lot, it took quite awhile before I had an issue with the pin. I have no reason to believe that the latest pin issue is my fault. But now I don't know what to do... should I find a better repair place to bring it to? Or should I just set up the phone as mobile device for my son to use and just replace the phone outright? I don't really enjoy having to replace the phone as I am someone who benefits from having a phone of a high quality, but that comes with a commensurate price increase that makes it difficult to afford them outright, but that's my best option when it comes to purchasing phones at the moment. Your suggestions would be very helpful. [link] [comments] |

Hacked S8. Any advice appreciated. Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:09 AM PDT Dear all I was wondering if I can get some advice. My device was hacked via RF a few days ago which includes social engineering including posting of personal details. The link to the attached bug report. The phone has never been a part of Samsung Enterprise program but yet enterprise billing seems to made. Social engineerers are getting a bit more hostile which now includes RF as well as disabling or patching programs. I would appreciate anyone who could give the files a good going through and giving me any suggestions on who is behind this. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Storage space different from advertised Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:05 AM PDT So my mom's phone is a Xiaomi Redmi 4. We got it for her as her first smartphone. She has been mentioning lately that it keeps saying her storage space is running out. Got her an SD card, only to realize MIUI doesn't let you move apps to SD card (without root anyways). But that's not the point of this post. While messing around in TotalCommander, I noticed that the storage space on "Internal Storage" is capped at 9.7GB. The advertised storage space of this model is 16GB. Open up storage manager in Settings, add up the categories and something similar comes up. 1.6GB free, (as said on top) and around 8GB used. Still says "Total: 16.00GB" though. Has anyone run into this? I don't want to buy her a new phone after a year or so because of this. Rooting would preferably be a last resort. [link] [comments] |
I forgot my passwords pattern but still have my fingerprints Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:59 AM PDT I have a Samsung Galaxy A30s. Posted: 07 Jun 2020 05:07 AM PDT So a friend of mine has a Huawei P20 lite and suddenly the phone turned off and started beeping (like the sound of an old school alarm) and it doesn't display anything other than just some dim lighting. Could this be a software or hardware issue ? [link] [comments] |
My battery save doesn't tune down my screen brightness when turned on Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:49 AM PDT Hey everyone, I'm sorry if I'm asking a stupid or silly question but there is something happening about my phone that I don't understand and I was hopping you guys could help me out. My phone like all phones has an option to turn on the battery saver. But you know how when your brightness is high or close to 100% and when you turn on the battery saver your brightness gets reduced significantly? Yeah my battery saver doesn't do that. It could do it before, if my brightness was high the saver would turn it down, now it doesn't. If my screen brightness is 100% and I turn on battery saver nothing will happen. Is this a problem? The reason I'm asking is because my phone could do it a few days ago but now it can't. Now obviously I can just reduce the brightness myself whenever I want easily, however does this mean that there is a problem with the battery saver? [link] [comments] |
