Posted: 14 Apr 2020 08:18 AM PDT Hello, I have been noticing that HDR on the Youtube App does not have black blacks, it's a very very gray color and it doesn't seem to be my phones fault, I can see the HDR activating, just the blacks are not black. I've posted this on /r/techsupport too but nobody chimed in, so I hope this is another good place where to post this. I have no speakers on my very old secondhand Win7 PC and the headset jack is way too far for my Android earphones to reach, so I thought... I'm gonna use my phone! I've installed Sound Wire both on my PC and my Android phone (I tried with a couple of them actually, a very old A3 and an A3 2016: exact same result) and I'm using the USB connection since I don't have a WiFi connection on my PC (yeah it's still a thing). The audio stutters a bit and does a little beep every second, but it's fine, hearing something is already good to me. But when I run the videogame I need the audio for, a game that otherwise runs smoothly... the game lags incredibly, like, I can see artifacts between frames... and when I close it explorer.exe doesn't respond. After I kill explorer and manually restart it, Sound Wire is frozen in the tray bar and I have to manually kill it. Order is then restored. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not tech savvy at all, sadly, and I have no clue how to fix it. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
| Bottom of my screen barely works Posted: 14 Apr 2020 12:33 PM PDT So I decided last night, in all of my infinite wisdom, to spray my phone with Windex to clean it, and now the bottom of my phone screen barely works. | Weird advertisments randomly happening in my phone Posted: 14 Apr 2020 07:46 AM PDT Apparently since yesterday without downloading anything, advertisements started appearing on my phone randomly as shown in the video. I've tried clearing my browser's data, cache etc and also scanned my phone with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes, nothing showed up. It doesn't seem to be meant as adware since its so blurry but im not sure, and its stuck on the background no matter what applications i open or close. I couldn't find anyone having the same issues as me around the net as well. It appears around thrice a day and dissapears within 20seconds or so. Any help would be gladly appreciated!! Posted: 14 Apr 2020 07:37 AM PDT Based on my Android experience, e-wallet apps and bank apps would be force closed or unable to login when it detects the phone does not pass SafetyNet. However, this does not apply to Huawei and Honor apparently. You see, Huawei and Honor newer phone does not ship with GMS, hence it will never be able to pass SafetyNet integrity check because no GMS means no API to send to the SafetyNet service. Even if the user somehow managed to get GMS installed via whatever method, GMS should fail as well because the model is not certified or even exists in SafetyNet database. However, all the above apps are able to work fine on Huawei and Honor newer phones, provided those apps are downloaded from Huawei AppGallery. I have tried several bank apps, they do not work on my rooted phone that has temporarily disabled Magisk, but they worked seamlessly on my Honor device. Anyone have any idea how does Huawei manage to bypass the SafetyNet check on the apps that requires SafetyNet? Or is it that the apps installed from Huawei AppGallery are SafetyNet-less? Attempt #1: I went into settings, tapped on the build number 7 times, clicked developer options and disabled absolute volume. I unpaired my AirPods Pro, restarted my phone, and nothing. Attempt #2: I connected my AirPods Pro and opened up a music app. I paused the audio, swiped down from the top of my screen, clicked on "media," went to audio outputs and selected "my phone." I then turned the volume all the way up and selected my AirPods again to reconnect and it was still playing at low volume. However he said to me that i have to update it to android 10 by odin on my pc cuz thing was stuck at android 9. So the day i got it i instantly updated it to android 10, february security patch, everything works great. The second phone I got nearly a year ago and it has been a total piece of crap from almost day one. I am not looking for an absolutely amazing phone, but the phone I got always has had battery issues from almost the first 30 days of purchasing the phone. I have replaced the battery twice in a year and I have done research and the phone has been known to have issues. I just got a bonus at work and my $1200 stimulus check and I am looking to get a better phone. The phone I got was an, "LG Tribute Empire" and it has been the worst phone I have ever had. I am not looking for a top of the line phone but I am looking for a phone that is not a piece of garbage. What phones offered through the Sprint Network and better choices. I am looking for something with ok RAM, how good the pixilation is not as important, I just want a decent phone that is not a piece of trash. Any good recommendations? I also do have a secondary phone which has 4000 mah battery. I don't want to give up on my SE because it's still a little beast and I listen to a lot of audiobooks, podcasts and music in general. I've been thinking about making this phone my audio streaming device but I don't know. The secondary phone is Redmi 7 and I have there my games, social media etc. I use my SE mainly for audio streaming and texting via Telegram or Facebook messenger. I just don't know and can't decide which one should be my daily driver with my SIM inside. How would you decide and why? Do you use your older iPhone as an iPod or for any other purpose than your daily driver? Btw, I don't really know if this belongs here but I'd just like to hear some opinions and recommendations. So, for example, a command such as "OK Google set alarm for 10 a.m." gets no response. I've checked and the microphone is still working. and I have, of course, powered it off and powered it back on again. Still no success. I tried going through the voice retraining and I get to the screen where I am supposed to say OK Google. When I do that there is an animation that indicates it understands and has recorded what I've said but then it just sits there. Suggestions please! [link] [comments] |

| Custom lock screen notification settings for FB Messenger keep reverting to default? Posted: 14 Apr 2020 07:28 AM PDT Haven't found a solution, I'll try my luck in this subreddit. So for each app I want to do this for, I go to that app's specific notification settings and override the specific notification types. For example, for FB Messenger there is "Chats and calls", "Group chat mentions", "Stories", and "Other" notification types. So I select each of these individually and under the Advanced settings I select "Lock screen" and change the setting to "Show sensitive content only when unlocked". This has the desired effect of not showing the contents of private messages on my lock screen. My problem is that for some reason, and limited specifically to the "Chats and calls" notification type for FB Messenger only, after a day or so it reverts this setting back to the default of "Show all notification content". Which then results in my FB message test appearing in plain view in the lock screen. I then change the setting back to "Show sensitive content only when unlocked" which works for another day or so before it reverts back again. The other notification types for FB Messenger are unaffected by this problem. The other strange behaviour I'm seeing is that for FB Messenger it says I receive ~31 notifications per day, but when I go further into the Notification settings, for "Chats and calls" it says I only receive ~1 notification per day. These numbers don't make sense so I believe there is something weird going on specifically with the way Android is reading FB Messenger chat notifications. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Messenger, and completely resetting all app preferences on the phone back to default (which was quite painful having to re-enable all my other apps permissions to what they were), but neither of these things have fixed the problem. As it is now pressing the physical enter key either does nothing or will trigger whatever letter the cursor on the onscreen keyboard is hovering over. | Unable to go to Odin mode ( Samsung galaxy note 5) Posted: 14 Apr 2020 03:10 AM PDT I don't know what happened, but my mobile screen has been flickering for the past few months and last week suddenly the screen decided to flip me the fingers. The phone boots completely (i.e. could hear message pop ups, call ringtone) but the screen is entirely black. The led and lights on keys are working. Recovery mode (vol. up + home + power) didn't work and I couldn't reach the odin (download mode - vol. down + home + power) too........ Every time it boots, he shows up some back light then the screen goes completely dark and then boots. Since it is quarantine, I couldn't reach samsung service centers too. IDK what should I do rectify the device..... I am just hoping it is not a hardware issue. [link] [comments] |
