    The kid gets our phone, and he can surprisingly do quite a bit from the lock screen alone.

    So I'm curious, are there any apps or settings I can put on my phone that are especially hard to exit?

    It seems swiping or hitting the bottom buttons are ways for the kid to exit whatever I put on the screen for him.

    Basically I want the kid to be able to use my phone as a toy and not accidentally open other apps or clear notifications.

    Phone hacked or coincidence?

    I'm not sure where to ask this but here I am.

    My phone sim was suspended on saturday. Called up, they said I authorised to do it, but I didnt. They put it down to a technical fault.

    Today, my mobile banking was hacked today, I noticed it very quickly due to the fact I get notified when money is moved, so i acted fast to try and stop it but they locked me out of the account. I called up the bank and all was sorted. I told them about the sim card thing, they arent sure but thought its connected so I had my number changed. They looked, and on the same day my sim was suspended they changed my account details to a new number and email.

    I've changed every single password and the lot. Now, I'm just paranoid about putting anything on my phone. I dont know how safe it is.

    Does anyone know of a way to hack my phone through my number, or could it have been a coincidence? How can I stop this from happening again. I can barely trust my own device now.

    Question about phone security and malware

    Apologies if this is a bit naive, but I don't know a lot about smartphones.
    I have a question about the Samsung Galaxy S10 plus: can anyone recommend ways to make sure it's safe from malware or virus/trojan/hacking etc? Is there a program you would recommend to check and make sure everything is secure and there's no malware on the phone? I downloaded a few songs from slider kz and suddenly thought it might be sketchy -- I also downloaded some games for an emulator straight from a website that came up from Google: it seems legitimate but now suddenly I'm a bit concerned because I read that people can sometimes access sensitive information on your phone like bank info etc. Also, is there a way to put sensitive things into a more secure place on the phone for this very issue? As far as security currently, I just have whatever came stock with the phone

    Useful apps for old android phone connected to PC?

    Hi all,

    So I have repurposed my old android phone connected to PC as my webcam for work calls using "droidcam", as well as using "remote system monitor" to display system info on the screen, and "Sim Hub Dash" for when I'm playing racing games.

    Does anyone know of any other cool similar uses for it?maybe to control things, montior things, or use as a 2nd touch monitor, etc?

    Also is there a more reliable program than droidcam you would recommend as its a bit hit + miss?

    What is the best Text to Speech app for Android?

    What text-to-speech app do you prefer? I don't mean text-to-speech voice apps like Google TTS or Vocalizer, I want an alternative for Natural Reader that enable you to paste a text in it and the app read it for you.

    I have an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, 8" - It has slowed down a lot - what's the best way to speed it up? (I want to just use it to read, watch netflix, play spotify, light web browsing)

    Can someone tell me why when I create a new activity with a layout, Android Studio doesn't recognize the layout?

    You will see I have other activities when reading the manifest, these where created without issue. what am I overlooking here? Thanks

    My brand new activity is having trouble in finding the layout -> activity_front_service (last line)

    Messages not sending/unable to receive messages

    Hi sorry this is my first post on this sub.

    I swapped to the S20+ from an iphone about a month and a half ago and have been using the default samsung "messages" app. I'm not sure when this issue started, but the last time I remember receiving a text was last Wednesday(04/15). I found out today (04/20) that I have no been receiving text messages and that I am not able to send any either. I've tried doing all the things that verizon wants me to do (clearing cache/data, restarting phone, etc), but nothing seemed to solve the problem. I swapped to verizon's "Message+" for a moment to try to send a text and one got through however I was still not able to receive messages, after swapping back I am again unable to send/receive through either of these apps. The only thing I am not able to try is removing my sim card because I do not own the sim tray stick thing.

    Edit: Solved. I had to reset the network settings in the phone multiple times while in contact with a Verizon person. It seems like they might have done something on there end, but regardless it seems like the problem is solved now. Thank you for all the help.

    Can I disable blocked call notification?

    I have blocked a private number from calling me using the 'Block calls or texts from unidentified numbers' setting. The only notification I get is from the call history menu in the 'Recent' tab. How do I block the notification from getting a call from the blocked caller? I have Android 11 on Google Pixel 2 XL.

    Perhaps there is an app that will allow this? Thanks.

    Device settings question: How can I get IMEI of a boot loop phone?

    Hi, My Samsung Galaxy J5 (SM-J500F) is stuck at boot loop and I'm unable to find it's IMEI. The sticker on it's back is fake :( I have searched that IMEI and it belongs to some Galaxy Grand Prime model that's why I need your help guys please suggest me how can I get the IMEI of my phone? I have tried a couple of software like Kies from Samsung but still, no luck as the phone doesn't start that's why I'm unable to get it. Please suggest me guys. Thanks

    When I use a usb to usb extention cable to connect my charger to my phone why does it start off supercharging and then switch to regular slow charging after about 1 minute of superchargeing fine?

    Logging into Lyft shows old number and I can't get rid of it.

    I'm on my BlackBerry KEYone. Trying to log into Lyft, and two phone numbers pop up. I saw that one was an old number, so I found it in my Google account and removed it.

    Lyft is still showing both numbers. It doesn't show up on a different phone, it doesn't show up in my Google Account, and it's not tied to Lyft anywhere. How do I get rid of it? I don't want to have to factory reset the phone but that's the only thing I can think of.

    Problems with recovery mode?

    So basically I'm trying to flash a custom ROM on my sm t350, but when I use the button combinations for recovery it doesn't work, and when I use an app or my PC it just shut off and doesn't turn on unless I use the button combinations for downloading mode. How do I fix this?

    How to stop shared calendar notifications from showing up on Android?

    Hello,

    I'm working with a user who has access to another user's calendar.

    1. User has a personal phone (Android) and a work phone (iOS).

    2. When this user creates or adds a meeting to other's calendar, it appears in both their default Android and iOS calendars. (No Outlook app is being used)

    3. The default 15 minute alert before the event appears on the Android device, but not on iOS.

    Question: Is there a way to turn off that notification on Android? I don't want them to all be turned off, because this user still needs notifications for their personal calendar.

    Unfortunately I don't have an Android device to test this all myself and because of COVID-19 restrictions, I'm not able to access the device in question.

    Sd card as internal storage (Android 7.1.1) is corrupt

    I'm on Nougat and have formatted my SD card as internal storage. It got corrupt after I ejected the SD card safety!!

    Actually after I reinstalled it, I saw this message: SD card is corrupt, fix it.

    The problem is, when I try to set it up as internal storage (or even portable storage), it will be formatted and formatting erases all data :(

    anybody knows how to fix it and avoid losing data?

    I don't know the type of filesystem either

    I have a motorola g7 power.

    It's a fairly strange issue where occasionally, the icons on my home screen will rearrange themselves or disappear.

    For example, today, when I woke up, the Skype icon was completely absent from both the folder it was normally in, and from the hotbar. Skype was still installed in my phone, and when I looked in my overall list of apps, it was still there, and I was able to add them back to where they were supposed to be.

    Another instance is when my Google search bar on my home screen will move down a space. Why is this happening? Should I be worried?

    Multiple Messages (from one person/chat) -> One Notification?

    I want to find a way to change the way my phone sends me notifications, whenever an app sends more than one notification from the same source, I only want to receive one until I check them.

    I get a bunch of notifications, and it stresses me out. It's not practical for me to convince all of these folks to change how they communicate, and I can't mute or leave some of the group chats that I'm in, I need to be able to respond to them promptly.

    So, basically, if Person A sent me messages like above, I would only get one notification (vibrate) until I open the chat and see their messages.

    I've been trying to find a solution to this, and I'm kind of surprised it isn't more common... am I not using the right search terms, or does this really not exist?

    Is there a way that I can remove write protection from my sd only using an android device?

    How do I fix mms issue when in a group chat with people who use iPhone?

    Can't install from APK backup. "Application not installed" error

    Hello everyone,

    I am writing to ask a question regarding APKs and after having tried everything.

    My problem is that when I make a copy of an APK installed in the terminal and try to install it, it shows an "Application not installed" error. My phone is a Xiaomi Mi A1 stock 7.1.2.

    ​

    - I tried to use APKs that worked a few months ago: They still work.

    - I've tried different backup/copy apps: The resulting APKs don't work with any of them

    - I have tried with different applications: None is capable of being reinstalled from its APK

    - I have disabled Play Protect and activated Unknown sources: It keeps showing the same error

    - I have tried to install old APKs, uninstall them, install the current version via Store, and make a copy of that current APK: Same error.

    - Even when the ubication of the APK is different (SD or internal): Same error.

    - I once read someone with the same problem and commented that it was from the Play Store update, but it is the only clue I have.

    - I have not tried ROOT, since in my terminal the same method has always worked and without making changes apparently, it no longer works. No updates, no changes.

    - I have tried to install the app from the store, uninstall the APK after copying it, and the APK still not working. Its happens with all kind of apps.

    - Also, tried to uninstall, reboot, tried to reinstall backup via. Same error.

    Anyone knows what happens? The same thing happens to all of you? I recommend trying an app that you have updated or don't care too much about. Is there any solution?

    Apple version (7.0.12) shows the flag

    When implementing the new emojis is it up to the individual apps to update their system to incorporate them.

    If I send the flag to a friend I get a black flag they receive the correct flag (as shown on my keyboard)
