3 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 147)

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 09:44 AM PDT

Happy Sunday, fellow mobile gamers! Thought I was gonna skip this weekend? Of course not ;) Here we go; the 3 most interesting games I played last week.

This time, including my new favorite bullet hell shoot 'em up game, a monster collection strategy RPG with randomly generated dungeons, and a cartoony MOBA where we control all heroes at the same time!

Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below.

New to these posts? Check out the first one from 147 weeks ago here.

The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is.

    Let's get to the games:

Bullet Hell Monday Finale [Game Size: 152 MB] (free)

Genre: Bullet Hell / Shoot 'em up / Shooter / Indie - Offline Playable

    Orientation: Portrait

    Required Attention: Full

    tl;dr review:

Bullet Hell Monday Finale is the awesome third installment in the series of bullet hell shoot 'em up games by indie developer "Masayuki", and this one has a fantastic progression system that allows both newcomers and pros to enjoy the chaotic action.

First of all, each level has a difficulty option, and secondly, you don't have to complete every quest/mission of a level before you can continue to the next one, which makes the game relatively forgiving. However, if you want to complete all quests, you'll have a serious challenge ahead of you! :)

The game features multiple spaceships with different weapons and multiple upgrades for each, which creates a nicely paced progression system. Monetization happens primarily through iAPs to unlock and level up new spaceships instantly if we don't want to grind in-game currency, which we can also, which we can also earn more of by watching the occasional incentivized video advertisement.

Soulite Monsters [Game Size: 317 MB] (free)

    Genre: RPG / Strategy / Monster-collection / Indie - Requires Online Access

    Orientation: Landscape

Required Attention: Little (not idle though)

    tl;dr review:

Soulite Monsters is a very unique monster collection strategy RPG where we build a team of monsters and heroes to take into battle in randomly generated dungeons.

The most unique part about Soulite Monsters is that we can merge any two monsters to create a new random monster with new attacks and abilities. This aspect makes monster exploration really fun, and it's the driving force behind the game's progression.

Combat itself happens automatically, so the fun lies in finding the best setup of monsters and heroes, and because of the relatively complex game system, the strategy runs rather deep.

The game sells stronger monsters directly through iAPs, which allows paying users to progress faster, but since the game focuses almost entirely on PvE instead of PvP, the monetization won't impact a free player's enjoyment of the game. There are no forced ads nor energy systems and the like.

Mini Legends [Total Game Size: 181 MB] (free)

Genre: MOBA / Cartoony / Real-time multiplayer / PvP - Requires Online Access

    Orientation: Landscape

    Required Attention: Full

tl;dr review: (early access - only some countries)

Mini Legends is a real-time multiplayer "3v3" and "5v5" MOBA by Max Games in which we take control of, and can switch between, all 3 or 5 heroes on our team at once, with an AI controlling the heroes we're not actively playing as.

The cartoony art-style is reminiscent of the Flash browser games Max Games is known for, and the gameplay overall feels like a more casual take on the MOBA genre. There are quite a few heroes to unlock though, and each hero can be customized by upgrading its individual attributes, which adds a hint of strategy to the progression.

The game does give paying users a pay-to-progress-faster advantage, although that can be dealt with through proper matchmaking. It's still too early to judge that part as the game is still in beta.

    Hello all! Was wondering if anyone could suggest a decent fishing game with the following criteria;

    • As realistic as possible

    • Easy to learn or with plenty of guides or a subreddit or Discord etc.

    Thanks for your help!

I am looking for the name of the game.

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 12:33 PM PDT

Hello guys, I've been trying so hard to find the name of that one kind of old Android platform game which you were playing as a some kind of a druid whose could shape his forms to use in any needed situation. From what I remember I could shift into a hawk, or a boar/bear and there were some kind of a totems as checkpoints. It has a stylized graphics. Does anyone know the name of that game? I would appreciate the help.

Trying to find a game, similar to twin stick space shooters

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 12:01 PM PDT

It was designed in the geometry wars style and played similar to the twin stick shooters: top down, in a square shaped arena.

Instead of shooting enemies through, you had to avoid their fire and crash into them to kill them. There were power ups that added different kids of shields, but you didn't actually shoot any other ships.

[Question ]Best games for steam link? (On mobile)

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 04:48 AM PDT

Assuming with touch controls on a mobile, which games do you find work best, perhapse more turn based ones? I would especially enjoy competitive multiplayer options without too much of a disadvantage, but all suggestions welcome! Thanks!

[REQUEST] A non pay to win, RPGish, actually fun slots game?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 02:23 AM PDT

I really enjoy having a casual slots games autospin whilst I read a book / watch TV. However, almost all of them are just these horribly commercial "make you lose and convince you to pay" semi-scams.

I've been playing Monopoly Slots for a while, and it has nice progression, quests, events, but you still run out of money very often.

I tried making my own crafting RPG slots game (Blacksmith Slots) buuut it was imbalanced and I'm no expert.

So, does anyone have any ideas for a game that:

    • Is primarily a slots game
    • Has a nice sense of progression
    • Ideally has RPG elements (quests, armour, loot)
    • Isn't going to try and bankrupt me
    • Has reasonable IAPs, e.g. one off payments for new content / boosts

    Thank you!

JAZZ: Trump's Journey - any way to play this on current devices?

    Posted: 26 Apr 2020 07:14 AM PDT

I purchased this through a Humble Bundle many moons ago and never finished it. FYI, no longer in the Play store (I guess unless you bought it there?) And apparently it doesn't work since Android 5 (last ran on Kitkat 4.4). Is there a way to get it to work on current version of Android 9 or 10?

I've been contemplating rooting lately so even if your method requires being rooted I would consider it.

I haven't tried but imagine it would work via a VM on PC with Kitkat or some other Android emulator. I would rather run this on my actual device if at all possible.

    Why

Are there any games where you just tap to music?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 09:31 PM PDT

Whenever I listen to music I find myself tapping my nail on the edge of my phone to the beat. Are there any games which don't require any actual specific areas where you tap, just the rhythm and timing?

[REQUEST] Any good multiplayer racing games

    Posted: 25 Apr 2020 04:01 PM PDT

I've been a big fan of Real Racing 3, but I don't think it really has a multiplayer mode.

What I'm looking for: - A fun, well designed game. I don't really care if EA or Gameloft or anyone made it, if it's slightly fun I'm good with it. - An actual multiplayer. I want to race against another actual people, unlike Real Racing 3 or MK Tour. Multiplayer is the most important. - Decent looking graphics. I'm on a Note 10 so nothing is really gonna lag for me.

    Thanks owo
