| Bluetooth is getting auto-renamed to random characters Posted: 26 Apr 2020 10:53 AM PDT In Pixel 3a phone with Android 10, after modifying the bluetooth name with a desired custom name it appears to be applied. But after sometime or if I manually restart the bluetooth it is getting renamed to some random characters. Does anyone having this issue in their device? I have an apostrophe and a space in the desired name. But it is getting auto-renamed even without these special characters. [link] [comments] |

But the phone drains the battery scanning for the carrier signal which isn't available, to begin with. Is there a way to use VoWifi without turning on the mobile carrier radio like setting the phone in Airplane mode while turning on Wifi and Vowifi? [link] [comments] |
| Disable auto input lock while playing something? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 06:30 AM PDT Hello fellow redditors, first question/post in this subreddit. As written in the title, I want to disable the auto input lock when playing apps. I put 2 Screenshots of what it looks like on imgur, link is further below. first ss shows the lock in action, the play button in the corner is a script im running to simply automate taps in the game (fate/grand order in this case) and from what I saw before it happened, the automated taps wake up the screen everytime (well, lighting up which I at least think is waking up the screen). what wonders me now is where the lock comes from, I have game launcher disabled.. second ss shows the option to toogle the lock myself via a shortcut option in the top right corner. additional info on the phone: s8+ edge android version 9 developer options unlocked thx in advance for any help [link] [comments] |
| Android 10 and Bypassing the Dreaded Hotspot Throttling Posted: 26 Apr 2020 01:08 AM PDT So, I recently purchased an OnePlus 7 Pro, now rooted and boot loader unlocked. I'm also an owner of an iPhone, jailbroken. A particular feature I love is Tetherme, a tweak from Cydia that hides hotspot data from being detected by the carrier. So, interested in doing the same for the OP7 Pro, I went after finding out ways where I could change some settings in the system to where the hotspot data could be read as regular data so I wouldn't reach the throttling threshold. However, after 2 days of digging and trying almost everything out there I'm still getting my hotspot data read. I've tried PdaNet+, but the problem with PdaNet is that I share my phone's hotspot with my laptop through usb and then the laptop acts as a hotspot, but devices like Xbox don't play nice, and end up having 100% packet loss which makes it impossible to play online. I've tried the "net.tethering.noprovisions = true" trick, the settings put global etc... but neither have worked for me. Even with a VPN and a VPN tethering app my hotspot data is still being read. A lot of the "workarounds" I've seen around and searched for are years old, and Android updates have gotten rid of their usefulness. So my question is this: Is there a new workaround, or anything recent that allows for hotspot data to be pushed through regular traffic data so that the carrier (in this case Verizon) doesn't see it? As a former Emacs and current Linux user, I'm used to use ctrl+b and ctrl+f instead of the left and right arrow keys to move the cursor. Is there a way to make this work on Android? Things get worse if I watch any video using the browser. However, when I don't have any browser open, my phone is really smooth. Does my situation sound bad? | Very odd problem- phone is rebelling against my local news affiliate Posted: 26 Apr 2020 10:46 AM PDT (Before I start: I know this will probably sound like an issue caused by my SMS app but I have installed several different texting apps to test this, and had the same problem every time. I'm actually pretty tech savvy but this problem has me completely baffled so I figured I'd post here to see if anyone has any ideas.) I have a rooted OnePlus5 device, have used it for a couple years now without any issues. Can send/receive calls and texts normally but over the past month I've encountered a really weird problem. Any texts I send, to anyone, containing a link to a story on my local news affiliate's website, go undelivered. (Don't know if I'm allowed to include URLs here but the site is Fox29- it's one of our local news stations.) If it makes any difference, everyone who I try to send a link to also has an Android. I've tested this by sitting next to my mom and my husband and texting them a link to a random Fox29 story, but they never receive the text. I've texted my best friend a link, only for him to confirm that he never received it. I've tried texting a Fox29 link with my default Messaging app, Textra and Google Messages- same issue. I can send people texts containing links to any other site and they go through fine, I only have this issue when trying to send any of the news articles on Fox29. I even wondered if my phone was taking a political stand and confusing Fox29 with Fox News so I sent my husband a link to the Fox News website and he received it immediately. It is only Fox29 that my Android does not want people to visit, and I have no idea why. If anyone has any clue at all as to WTF is going on, I'd love to hear it as I am extremely confused right now. They're all showing as individual and filling up the notification tray, it doesn't make much sense for them not to be grouped. I have an iPhone XS and they group on there but not on my Samsung. I usually can't access Reddit without a VPN (I use 1.1.1.1). I use Sync for Reddit exclusively, in case it matters. I bought a slightly used Realme 6. The model has just been released, and the seller said they just reviewed it and then sold it when they're done. However once I installed everything and logged into my accounts, I kept getting Sync for Reddit notifications even when 1.1.1.1 is supposedly inactive. I tried browsing subs and posts, and this phone can access Reddit without a VPN! Immediately tried with my other phones (I, uh, have several phones, thus my username), and none of them can do the same thing. Same app, same network, same account, same everything. (Except this is the only phone with a Mediatek processor - the rest are Snapdragons and there's one Kirin 980). Every once in a while it fails to access Reddit though, so it's not 100%. Should I be worried? Is it possible there's a man in the middle attack here? Or maybe somehow 1.1.1.1 keeps working even after being deactivated, but just on this one phone? Thoughts please! Edit: I restored to factory settings after buying the phone, first thing I did! The previous owner didn't seem to do that, I started the phone and met the homescreen instead of the setup page. | Used Galaxy Note8 has mismatched baseband and firmware - Fixable? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 09:43 AM PDT Bought a Galaxy Note8 years ago and just discovered that the baseband and firmware don't match. For this reason it seems I haven't had an update since Android 7.1.1 and now I'm experiencing connectivity issues with other devices cause everything is so outdated. A SamMobile admin said they can't give me advice cause the firmware is unofficial. I've been trying to use Odin to flash the latest Android 9 update, but it won't work. I just want to know if there's anything I can do to remedy this. I'd appreciate any helpful input and advice. Thanks in advance! | Unwanted sound reduction during sleep while using white noise app. Posted: 26 Apr 2020 09:11 AM PDT I have a white noise app I use with a bluetooth headband for sleep. For me to drown out any environmental noise I use this app at max volume. Two problems I have noticed is the max volume isn't consistent. One night it can be really loud and another night it can be noticeably softer. For this issue I use a volume boosting app to help normalize the inconsistent volume night to night. The second problem and really my largest issue is that when sleeping the volume is lowered significantly. Eventually its lowered to the point where the white noise app is barely audible but my volume settings are still at 100%. I have a Galaxy S7. Generally when this happens I can rock the volume bar back and fourth and the volume will be restored to where it should be. I have also noticed this behaviour starts within minutes of setting my volume to 100%. It will lower very slightly and my theory is it keeps doing this until the volume is inaudible. I don't know what my solution for this should be. Google is a graveyard for good solutions to this. I don't know if its my phone or what. I understand Android has some ear protection stuff that may be causing an issue but why would it keep lowering the volume to the point where its inaudible? Is this some sort of sound management thing that Samsung is doing in the background? Either way I am losing sleep over it. Instead of sleeping through the night I am constantly woken up and having to deal with this issue. Would this be an issue that can be solved by buying a cheap android tablet with a generic install of android? [link] [comments] |
