Buyers Beware - Android Stream TV by Verzin

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 02:30 PM PDT

    Hello,

Not sure why original post was deleted earlier by a Mod but I got some new answers and update on my case.

I bought the Verizon Steam TV - I love it - it's great and definitely better than the mibox s. However, my issue started when the remote that came with it lost communication with the stream TV. I am not able to pair it back no matter what I do.

After 2-3 total hours of phone calls with Verizon support, they just suggested for me to return it for full refund. Their support team is abysmal.

There is no way for this device to enter into Recovery Mode to do a hard reset. Factory defaults can only be done while in the interface. There is no hardware reset button or pinhole.

I tried all possible key combination (like in the Mibox S) to hopefully enter recovery mode during boot up - NO LUCK.

So just be aware before you buy this -- if your remote lost the pairing or it got eaten by a dog .. you have a brick on your hands. Them sending a new remote won't do anything.

This is one hell of a product flaw.

On top of that, I will be returning this device will my email, plex, disney+,amazon video, netflix, and more accounts logged in as myself since I can't factory reset it before I send it. They better not use it!

App that Plays Local Content, has Channels, and Integrates with Google Assistant

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 10:09 PM PDT

Is there an app that play local videos and integrates with Android TV by presenting channels and allowing to add to watch later? The existing alternatives Plex, Kodi seem to boot up a completely new interface to watch local files which seems to defeat the purpose. Basic video players do exist like VLC but you can't seem to search them from assistant nor do they provide the videos in a channel.

Google has done such a great job aggregating all of these streaming services in one place so that content discovery becomes interesting and new seems a shame there is no way to play local content.

    Problem with Hisense 32H5590F remote

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 01:00 PM PDT

I got my first Android TV during last December. The Hisense was good enough for bedroom. But now I can not change OTA channels using the remote. Is there an Android app that can be used to change OTA channels.? The remote works fine for all other buttons.

BBC iPlayer App on Kodi not working

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 10:08 AM PDT

Hello, I got lucky last week and managed to grab a 2019 Shield Pro when it briefly came into stock at Amazon. My first time with an Android streaming device. I'm in the process of setting it up. I installed VPN (both PIA and ExpressVPN because I wanted to try them both out side by side), then Kodi and the iPlayer App from the Kodi repository. Thing is, I can access and BBC iPlayer contents when I use a browser with either VPN, but when I try to use the Kodi iPlayer app I get a 'connection aborted' error. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or is the iPlayer app in Kodi broken?

Safe to buy a Xiaomi mi box s?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 02:23 PM PDT

Since there are no sales in my country I'm planning to buy a Xiaomi mi box s on AliExpress. I heard a lot of people complaining it is unusable after the update? Is this already solved? Is it safe to buy a mi box now? Planning to use mainly Netflix and Kodi.

    Mi Box Remote Wrong Command

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 10:35 AM PDT

When I press the Mi Box remote "right" button, it sends multiple "up" or possibly "left and up" commands. I can scroll down and up but as soon as I try to scroll to the right, the selection jumps to the top left. I've disassembled the remote and tried it with the bare circuit board. Same behaviour.

Any idea on what could have caused this and how to resolve it?

Power controls not yet available on all my android TVs

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 09:42 AM PDT

Within the last 3 weeks I have been having a problem turning on and off my Android TVs using Google Assistant on my Homes or phone. When asked to turn on/off the Living Room/Bedroom/Office TVs I get "Sorry, power controls not yet available" Every once in a while it will work. This has never been a problem before. I have a Sony Bravia, and 2 OG MiBoxs. Since this is a problem on these different devices, I thought this might be an update to the Built-in Chromecast (I am in the beta testing). Has anyone else had this problem or know a fix? Thanks.
