Something is randomly hijacking my browser and opening up an ad website. Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:02 AM PDT I've tried using 2 different antivirus apps and both couldn't find anything. [link] [comments] |
Using USB webcam as phone camera Posted: 14 Mar 2020 09:00 AM PDT I have an app that streams the video from a front or rear camera on an Android phone, I suspect it is calling for a list of cameras from the phone OS and returning ones with the specified direction. I want to use a USB webcam instead, is there an app or similar hack that can make android think a USB camera is an integral camera? [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to get Android to display date and time in ISO 8601? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 11:59 AM PDT I'm not talking about developing an app and generating the string or anything. I just pull down the notifications and I wish I could rearrange the date and time displayed there or anywhere on the interface. Pie on a Note 8 in case that's relevant. [link] [comments] |
Folder titled "Portal" with 1400 audio files Posted: 14 Mar 2020 11:02 AM PDT Sorry if this is the wrong place for this or if there's an answer online (I couldn't find any), but why does my phone have a folder called "Portal" (my files>internal storage>portal) with over 1000 of what sounds like 2 second snippets of backwards audio? I was trying to clear out space when I came across this, is it safe to delete or is this some super weird way of storing audio from videos or other mp3 files? I'm lost. [link] [comments] |
Google Photos App eats my battery, why/what to do? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 11:00 AM PDT My Samsung Galaxy 7 has decent battery life, except when the Google photos app is active. I was able to figure out that it was the issue, when I force stopped it. Why would it eat some much battery, and what can I do to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Mar 2020 01:00 PM PDT Looking for that setting on my Huawei with the newest os. Is it left out only on Huawei devices? I can't find it at all :( If so, do u know a good alternative to that setting? [link] [comments] |
What's wrong with FB Messenger? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 12:54 PM PDT Messenger had an update a couple of days ago and it has made my phone really slow. When it's open my phone gets slower. Does anyone else have a similar problem? Any suggestions on how to fix that? [link] [comments] |

Every text message I send is received as "Urgent" Posted: 13 Mar 2020 06:52 PM PDT I have a weird problem, but I kind of suspect no one will have an answer. I got a brand new Samsung Galaxy A20 today. Everything is working fine, except that every text message I send is received as "urgent" or "high priority" on the other end. It shows a red exclamation point on the message on their phone, but it shows nothing abnormal on my phone. I've confirmed this with two different people who I texted, and it's been every message I've sent from this phone. Has anyone experienced anything like this or does anyone know if there's any kind of setting somewhere to change this? [link] [comments] |
Android File Transfer not working Posted: 14 Mar 2020 12:30 PM PDT Hi, I'm on a Galaxy s10e Android 10, of course i tried the usual stuff like restart, different cable etc + also OpenMTP and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the recent security update. Has anybody expirienced that issue yet / any tips what I can do? Thanks guys [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Mar 2020 04:17 AM PDT What makes my phone slow? I have over 50% storage space left and no app seems to be using a lot of resources. I do use the nova launcher but I hope it's not that. Also Play store freezes half of the time when I open it and half of the time it doesn't freeze it wont show the keyboard so can't search for stuff in there. [link] [comments] |
Really slow Wi-Fi on 2 separate Android devices? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:03 AM PDT I currently have the A50, before this I had the S7. Both are really really slow on WiFi networks, even when all other devices are running fine. Is this a Samsung problem, or specific to me? I did the full phone transfer when I got the new phone, could I have transferred over some funky software? The A50 is only 2 months old if that's any help. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 13 Mar 2020 10:01 PM PDT It has a broken display, all pixels are dead, save for a few lines. Anyone know how to force it into Debug and file transfer mode? I've tried dba and all other options I could find except one, but I dont know Android architecture very well, so I'm wondering: would it be possible to create a program that FORCES the phone into this mode (whether by usb or by MicroSD card). any help would be appreciated! thanks! I have an entire EP saved on this phone that I've been working on and id like to have that. [link] [comments] |

Upgrade Huawei Mediapad M2-A01L Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:51 AM PDT Hello all, I've just found an "old" Huawei Mediapad M2 (M2-A01L) that I would like to upgrade at least ton Android 6.0. Firmwares for this device have been released up to 5.1 only. I've been looking on the Web for ways to upgrade it despite the lack of official 6.0 ROMs but didn't find what I'm looking for. Does someone know if I can install a newer custom ROM on this device ? Thanks in advance for your help. My three daugthers will really appreciate working and playing on a tablet during the, at least, 4-6 weeks to come, while we'll all be stuck in our house. [link] [comments] |
Verizon Moto Z3 - screen is broken & black. How can I retrieve my files using a PC? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:17 AM PDT Phone is a Moto Z3 on Verizon. I dropped the phone on the ground and the screen cracked and is completely dark; completely unusable screen. I can feel the phone pulse when I put my finger on the fingerprint sensor so I can tell the phone is still on. Phone is not rooted and I am unsure if I ever turned on debugging or developer mode. I can plug it into my PC with a USB cord, but if memory serves I'd need to set the phone USB option to file transfer. I can't do that because the screen is broken. When I plug it in to the PC there is no prompt on the PC about what do to with the new USB device (open files in folder etc). Is there a way to retrieve my files from the phone using a PC? Can I run an Android virtual machine on PC to do a test run of a custom ROM? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:05 AM PDT I have a Oneplus 5T and want to do a test run of a custom ROM using MicroG. Is there a way to mimic my device using some kind of emulator/virtual machine? I basically want to try out a LOS MicroG-based ROM to see which apps fail without the Google Services Framework or whatever it is called. I tried MicroG roms a few years ago but I found it to be sub-par, and I don't want to nuke my current device ROM right now as TWRP has an issue making backups. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Mar 2020 07:22 AM PDT So I got the S20 Ultra from Best Buy as a pre-order and have redeemed the $200 Samsung Credit and already received the Galaxy Buds+ that I ordered with part of that. If I return the phone what happens with the credit, does Best Buy know I claimed it and will deduct it from the return, or will Samsung know and bill me for the Buds? I'm not trying to get anything for free that I shouldn't, I just want to know who will end up getting my money since I'm sure I want to keep the Buds. [link] [comments] |
Mark as Played feature for podcasts on Spotify not working Posted: 14 Mar 2020 06:57 AM PDT Spotify version 8.5.48.1049 This just started recently - nothing happens when I hit the check mark or menu option to mark a podcast episode as played. The pop-up message that gives me the option to undo the action still comes up, but the episode remains unplayed and in my feed. Anyone else having this issue? The only thing I tried was uninstalling and reinstalling the Spotify app, still not working. [link] [comments] |
How to find out what app opens ads in my browser? Posted: 14 Mar 2020 06:35 AM PDT Since yesterday morning "something" opens advertisements in my browser. The browser will change when I uninstall whatever is the main browser at the moment, but the ads remain the same. I have already removed everything that is even slightly questionable that had been updated over the last few days, but that did not change anything. My problem is that I have absolutely no idea how to even approach this... Any ideas? [link] [comments] |
Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 (A310F) WILL NOT play well Posted: 14 Mar 2020 06:16 AM PDT I bought a Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 refurb. I aim to change the recovery to TWRP and flash a different ROM to the unit. It won't play ball! (boot screen lists as Galaxy A3 6, it is the SM-A310F model). It appears to be patched to 1 June 2018. The boot loader is unlocked, it is in developer mode, OEM is unlocked, usb debugging is on and I can install from unknown sources. I can get it into recovery mode. I can get it into Download mode. I'm following instructions for Odin. Flashing a recovery with Odin (on Windows, run as Administrator... as per a video suggestion) does not work. Odin logs do not throw out any obvious errors but TWRP does not replace the stock recovery. Using ABD I can see the phone, I can push apps to it. I can reboot to download or recovery. I can't root it for some reason. I can't get a non-stock recovery onto the phone. I can't get root access on the phone (stock recovery throws up "unverified signature" errors on attempts to install SU from sdcard). I have attempted to use Odin and ABD-Fastboot CLI on Linux (I had to hunt around for a windows box to borrow because I don't have one). It is really frustrating. The last phone I rooted and updated was a Moto G5, which was a breeze in comparison. Are there any 100% bulletproof guides or tips I may have missed? [link] [comments] |
Wifi is unavailable in-app update fix Posted: 14 Mar 2020 02:02 AM PDT So I don't happen to have Wi-Fi at my house, and I would like to be able to download in-app updates without it but I can't figure out any way to do that. I have an Asus Zenfone 5z running Android 10. Previously on Android 9 I found that if you opened an app in split screen a seemingly hidden menu would appear to allow you to use mobile data to download the in-app update. That is no longer the case on android 10. Is there any solution (preferably without root)? [link] [comments] |
Phone battery's charging current drops to 0 after 30% but the screen percentage keeps increasing Posted: 13 Mar 2020 04:02 PM PDT I have a Samsung J2 Prime. My original battery was dying at a high percentage, turns out it was swollen. So I bought a new one. The new battery came charged to around 50%. That 50% lasted around 30 minutes, then the phone died. I plug it in and turn it on, to charge it for 4 hours like the guy from the shop told me. That 100% charge lasted around 2 and a half hours. Tried charging to 100% again, but the same thing happened. Took it to the shop again and they gave me a new battery. Had the same issue. I noticed that the phone always died at 49% when I charged it to 100%, in about 4 hours. I decided to charge it to 30%. That 30% lasted for 4 hours too (as a 30% charge should). I charged it to 25% and it lasted around 3 hours, again, as it should. So I downloaded Accubattery, and it turns out that when the battery reaches 30%, the charging current drops to almost 0, but the percentage shown in the screen goes up to 100%. Also the Voltage bar is full when the phone reaches the 30% battery level, but when I unplug it and reboot it, the voltage is back to half. So even if the phone is up to 100% it'll only last 4 hours. I tried my old battery with the same charger and the same wall socket and it had the same problem but around 86%. Also I tried callibrating the battery but it didn't work either. Any suggestions?
