Using an old tablet as a larger screen for my modern phone

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 07:48 AM PDT

Hi, I'm not sure if this is possible but I have an old Android tablet ( sm-p900 ) and a mate20pro. the tablet's hardware is old and slow so I'd love to be able to use it as a larger screen for my phone while still using the phone's hardware to power applications.

This would mean being able to use the tablets touch screen to control the phone. I have tried using the AirMirror app but the lag and image compression makes it pointless. Any other options ? Thanks

Did anyone here use Glasswire on Android 9/10 before their last big update? What did the graph screen look like?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 11:07 PM PDT

Asking because I'm on Oreo and plan on upgrading but heard there was an issue with the live graph screen on newer android versions (before the newest update got rid of the graph)

What is the relationship between Class and Widget in flutter and mapping of those in implementation of application ?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 06:54 AM PDT

Since there are tons of Widgets and Class and properties in flutter. So i am confuse in between Widgets property and certain class property. How we should map the Widget and Propery during implementation. Because there are Some case when we map as Widget -> Property -> and then Widget. And another situation as Scaffold has a appBar Property which has a AppBar() constuctor.

Does we need to remember all different kind of situations in each widgets in flutter or there is any techniques to understand the pattern ?

So when we can implement constructor or property to doing task. It is very confusing.

I scratch my head to the wall for understanding the proper various kind of mapping between Widgets , Property , Constructor to implements.

"I will appreciate your help with this situation."

My recent apps keep restarting/refreshing when I switch between them

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 12:25 PM PDT

I have a Huawei P Smart 2019. About a week ago I got a software update (now I'm on Android 10, EMUI 10) and ever since then I can't keep more than one app open at one time. For example, if I'm browsing on Reddit and I go on Whatsapp to message someone for no more than a couple of seconds, if I press the recent apps button and try to go back on Reddit, the app will refresh. This is true for all of my apps. I know this can be expected if I don't go back on the app for like 20 minutes or if we're talking about a game or another "straining" app, but this is ridiculous. Can someone give me some advice on what to do to fix this?

Sharing a link to a specific Google Keep note instead of a new one?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 12:15 PM PDT

So, I cram a lot of stuff into my notes app (Google Keep currently), all the time, from recipes, to websites, etc. In iOS, when I used the share menu, it would give give a choice with a drop down box to add whatever you're sharing to a specific note. I can't seem to find a way to do that outside of just copying the item, then opening Google Keep, finding the note, and pasting the item?

Windows can access the phone's internal storage, but not it's Micro sD card

    Posted: 27 Mar 2020 05:59 PM PDT

My Samsung Galaxy A8+ (A730F), running Android Pie, had a faulty USB connector due to water damage and for a very long time, it wouldn't connect over USB. Nevertheless, everything else worked just fine.

Recently I had this piece replaced by a technician and it seems to be working alright, but I just noticed that on Windows, my 128GB micro SD card is shown next to my Internal Storage as empty and with a size of 128MB.

I can interact normally with the Internal Storage and when I put the micro SD card in a card adapter and plug it on my PC, everything works fine.

I'm using and original USB cable, my micro SD card is legitimate (confirmed it on SanDisk's website) and there aren't any other issues. Also, I have root access.

I tried clearing cache/data on Media Storage and External Storage, but had no luck.

I know that if nothing helps, I'll have to contact the technician, but I'd like to discard other possibilities first.

    Any tips?

    Thank you!

    Disabling screen rotation

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 11:24 AM PDT

Hey folks. Trying to figure out how to fully disable screen rotation for a Sprint LG Stylo 5 (model number LM-Q720PS, Android 9, kernel 4.9.112). I have auto-rotation disabled, but there's a super annoying button that appears with the home touch buttons, next to the active apps button. I can't find it in any of the settings, LG support was a dead end, and I can't find anything about it online. Can post screens if needed. Thanks in advance folks.

Are there any tablets that load websites as fast as a desktop?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 10:40 AM PDT

To be more precise, are there any tablets that can load websites as fast as a desktop Desktop PC with:

    Ryzen 5 3400G

    8 GB DDR4-3200

    Samsung 970 Pro NVMe

    ...

The only tablet I've ever owned is a Nexus 7 LTE (2013) and that thing is much too slow for me. Seeing as how it's been about 7 years since it came out, I am hoping technology has advanced enough to match website loading times of desktops.

    ...

I understand the bottlenecks/issues that come with the various methods of wireless internet connections (Number of users, distance, line of sight, weather, ect...), but for the sake of this post, I'm only interested in the CPU Power needed to load websites as fast as the aforementioned desktop.

You can disregard WiFi and Bluetooth, and assume a wired USB-To-Ethernet 100 Mb connection. It's gonna need to support at least 4G Cellular sim-cards, though.

..In other words, I want the expected bottleneck to be with the Wireless Connections,

    but not with the CPU.

..It'll also double as GPS (my brother can mount and wire up anything in my car, he's good at that kind of stuff) and there's tons of free (and paid) android apps for that. I haven't settled a GPS app yet, as I'm still testing them out, but it'll most likely be one that works without an active internet connection, so y'all can kinda ignore the "GPS-Needs-Internet" side of things.

..Screen size and tablet thickness doesn't matter, so long as the screen is not smaller than 7 inches, and has at least 1920x1080 pixels.

Also, price is not a concern.

Nor is power consumption (so long as it can continuously operate when powered by my car for up to 20 hours straight). I'll also install an app that will stop the screen from turning off, until I poke a specific button or icon or something.

    ...

Primary use will consist of (while parked) checking weather, viewing live radar, looking up product info, looking up Business Hours and Locations, sending and receiving e-mail, video conferencing,

    ...

If tablet tech hasn't improved enough yet, that's okay, I can go for Plan B and build a mini itx computer for my car, and hook it up to a mountable touchscreen. Seems kinda overkill, but using my laptop in a compact car is uncomfortable, to say the least.

Can't get USB file transfer working between windows 10 and Pixel XL3?

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 04:20 AM PDT

I can not work out how to USB file transfer working.. and as android changes so fast all the google searches give me instructions that do not apear to work on my system. My phone is all updated.

Basically when I plug the USB into the phone and the PC it starts to charge... but windows gives me a "not recognised error".

Now all the instructions on google tell me to click the notification for the USB and select MTP... but there IS NO NOTIFICATION TO CLICK ON. Also, I have trued searching the setting for USB, Transfer, MTP... and I just can not find anything to set. Basically nothing I find with google matches the menus I see in my Android.

I have a google pixel XL3 and should be running the latest stock andoird.

Thanks I hope that is enough info and you can help me out.

    My files recent files

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 07:48 AM PDT

I have recently upgraded up android 10 and on my Xperia xz3 when I open my files it shows recent files straight away. The annoying thing is this also shows files I have hidden in the gallery so I do not like this as anyone browsing my phone can just open this and see instead.

Is there anyway to disable recent files or to stop it from showing.

    Thanks

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 07:21 AM PDT

It is picking up internet from my neighbor s' wifi, but my own doesn't even show up on the menu. I know that the router works because other devices like laptops can connect, but my phone doesn't even see the wifi to connect to. Any ideas?

Specs: NUU A3, Android 6, NetGear router.

I used data to post this.

[Android 10] Disabling the "Exposing sensitive info during casting/recording" warning

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 12:47 AM PDT

    This one.

I've looked up a lot of stuff about this and I can't find a good solution. Every time someone asks, people seem to sidestep the question entirely by suggesting the built-in screen recorder.

That's not what I asked for, and that doesn't even apply here because I'm getting this warning when screen mirroring (using APowerMirror here).

Can a Security certificate be malicious? (Adguard)

    Posted: 28 Mar 2020 04:17 AM PDT

Hello, I installed myself Adguard, and got 3 months of premium for free. If I want to block ads on my whole phone, I need an "Adguard Personal CA" certificate, to block https ads. Then I clicked on yes, and my phone asked for my device password. After I installed the certificate, I can find it as a security certificate.

Now I want to know, if it can be a security risk, to install the Adguard Certificate.

    Thanks in advance
