| 3 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 139) Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:04 AM PST I know, it isn't exactly Friday (sorry for bursting your bubble, hehe), but I had a busy weekend so I had to postpone this weekly post to Monday. Hope you'll still enjoy the read through my 4 mobile gaming recommendations of the week, guys :) This time, I found an offline dungeon-crawler RPG in the vein of Card Thief, a fun turn-based roguelike with a unique twist on the match-3 combat, an action bow-and-arrow shooter, and a fantasy-themed idle RPG with a crazy amount of content and decent monetization. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 138 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Here are the games:Look, Your Loot! [Game Size: 42 MB] (free)Genre: Card / Dungeon-crawler / RPG / Card Thief-like - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Little tl;dr review: Look, Your Loot! is a well-made card-based dungeon crawler inspired by Card Thief that sets itself apart by having multiple game-modes, all of which are available in the free version of the game. Our goal is to get as far as possible into a dungeon consisting of a 3x3 (or 4x3) grid of cards that can either contain enemies, potions, or loot. At certain intervals, we'll meet a boss card too, and once we defeat it, we level up and get to pick 1 of 2 random power-ups that last until we die. With 11 unique heroes to play as (unlocked through in-game gold or premium currency) and multiple game-modes, the game is very enjoyable and has a decent level of replayability as well. Monetization happens through ads that appear from time to time when we die, which can be removed through a $2 iAP, and additional iAPs to buy premium currency to unlock 4 of the heroes. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Lost in the Dungeon [Game Size: 164 MB] (free)Genre: Roguelike / RPG / Turn-based / Match-3 - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Little tl;dr review: Lost in the Dungeon is a turn-based roguelike RPG puzzle game with a unique twist on the match-3 gameplay mechanic. Starting out, we pick one of 8 unique heroes, for which we can then buy permanent upgrades and new skills before we launch the play-session. Once we're in, we're presented with a grid of tiles. Our goal is to deal damage by connecting 3 or more tiles of a color that matches the color of one of the enemies that spawn in waves at the top of the screen. After every wave, we get to a shop where we can buy new equipment for our hero, which increases our overall starts like defense and attack power, and whenever we level up, we get to pick a temporary stat-increase as well. The gameplay is spiced up a bit through tiles that have a power-up attached to them, which activates whenever we destroy those tiles, as well as through certain enemies that can lock up parts of our grid of tiles. The game is fun and well-made, and the unique twist of RPG, match-3, and roguelike elements really come together nicely. Monetization happens through incentivized ads for additional loot, and iAPs to get more orbs, which is used to unlock and level up new heroes - but we also earn orbs through gameplay, which makes the iAPs unnecessary. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Last Arrows [Total Game Size: 194 MB] (free)Genre: Action / Shooter - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Last Arrows is a fun level-based arrow shooter where we try to defeat all enemies in each level with as few shots as possible to earn 3 stars. The game features two difficulties for each level, as well as an endless survival mode where enemies run towards us and we have to shoot them all before they hit us. As we progress through the game's levels, we unlock new abilities that make combat more interesting, like a slow-mo ability, and an ability that allows us to shoot arrows that curve on their way to the enemy, which makes it possible to shoot around obstacles. The game monetizes through ads that pop-up between levels from time to time, with a $2 iAP to remove the ads, and a few other iAPs to unlock new heroes immediately if we don't want to grind gold to unlock them. Google Play: Here YouTube First Impressions / Review: Here Endless Frontier [Total Game Size: 233 MB] (free)Genre: RPG / Idle / Fantasy - Requires Online Access Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Idle tl;dr review: Endless Frontier is a huge fantasy-themed RPG idle game where we start auto-repeating quests to earn gold, and spend that gold by unlocking and leveling up progressively better and stronger heroes that fight monsters for us. The game offers a ton of features to keep things interesting, like gear with lots of interesting attributes, resource dungeons, a guild system, a "PvP" battle arena, and much more. When things slow down to a halt, we can reset our progress in exchange for a currency used to buy permanent upgrades that improve our heroes, and then the gameplay loop repeats. Progression in Endless Fronter is very fast, which made it a very enjoyable experience, and unlike many idle games, we're not forced to watch ads to progress either. There are lots of iAPs, but none of them feel necessary, and we earn free premium currency through normal gameplay throughout the game, and not just for the first few hours to lure us in. | Posted: 01 Mar 2020 05:44 PM PST All of the 193 items were gathered from chests and playing the game. Confidence Level: 95% (percent chance that my analysis represents reality, common number in studies) Confidence Interval: 7.05% (the error that is possible in my results. Example: if my results shows that there is a chance that the coin will flip tails 50% of the time, with confidence interval in mind, there is a 95 chance that the real value is 50% +-7.05% so from 42.95 to 57.05 percent). I would love to do a proper test with thousands of data to get more accurate results, but I am not spending any money on this and time investment would be insane. Hypothesis one: Item drops are not influenced by item type.(example: so if there are 6 weapons out of 26 items, there should be a 23% chance to get a weapon out of every drop) Hypothesis two: If highest level gear in inventory is equipped, that gear drops less often than any other gear. (example: if level 30 lazer bat is highest level spirit item in your inventory and is equipped, other spirits will drop more often than the lazer bat). Thing to note: I have used 2 lazer bats and two wolf rings. results: hypothesis one is proven to be wrong. https://i.imgur.com/QfSV33j.jpg Data clearly shows that item type influences item drop by a huge margin. Weapon drop way more than any other item type (31 percent drop rate). Armor and ring drop rate is pretty high as well (23 percent). Spirit drop rate is similar (19 percent), but it falls into our 7.05% Confidence Interval (23 percent and 19 percent difference is only 4 percent), so we can't know for sure if rings drop at the same rate as armor or spirits. Bracelet and Locket drop rate is where things start to get more interesting. Bracelet drop rate only hit 2 percent while Locket drop rate is only 1 percent. This clearly means that these item types drop way less often. Hypothesis two is a bit more complicated because bracelets and Lockets had dropped only few times, so they are not included in the calculation. What I have tried to do here is to compare 4 equipped item drop rates with average drop rates. Sadly we have not enough data to have conclusive results (further explanation below). https://i.imgur.com/XX8KCfe.jpg Even thought the results show that out of every item drop (not counting bracelets and lockets), there was suppose to be 21.6 percent chance to get any of my 4 highest level items that I had equipped and my actual drop rate was 16.6 percent. It is only 21,6-16,6=5 percent less and that falls into this study's Confidence Interval: 7.05%. So if it's less than 7.05 percent, it's perfectly expected because sample size (number of items) in this study is not big enough to have a greater accuracy. Hypothesis 2 is neither confirmed or denied. I would need 1066 item drops to get Confidence Interval down to 3 percent, which would be way more interesting, but no time/resources for that. I hope somebody enjoyed reading this. Have a nice day! p.s: items dropped: (star marks items that I had equipped) [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 02 Mar 2020 06:16 AM PST It's crazy that I get the MMO itch every few months and there's literally no MMO that seems worth playing. So in desperation I am turning to mobile gaming. I am looking for an online game with a continuous stream of content, an active and competitive community, and weekly grinds. It can be any type of online game. A RPG, a strategy game, etc. As long as it fits the above criteria. I'm sure there has to be something. This is ridiculous. [link] [comments] | ||

| [REQUEST] Looking for casual game with decent progress, possibly Gacha Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:51 AM PST I'm looking for a nice Gacha (or similar) game to play casually. Meaning that I can play anywhere from a couple of minutes to half an hour and have stuff to do.
This would be my first mobile game in years, last being Final Fantasy Mobius in ca. 2016. I've looked at AFK Arena or Arknights, but I'm not sure how the progression is if you don't pay, and how big a part PvP plays. [link] [comments] | ||

| F1 2016 for Android Pit Stop bug? Posted: 02 Mar 2020 04:45 AM PST I noticed that sometimes it would take me a full minute just to leave the pit stop, even tho I was the first entering. I can't even play in the max difficulty due to this. Hell, even on medium difficulty the Pit Stop can screw me up. I play with 8 LAPs, but I think I should just play with 5 LAPs if I want to play in the highest difficulty, because if I try to play with 8 LAPs on the hightest difficulty, the Pit Stop "bug" will just screw me over by holding me for more than 1 minute, while A.I only stays in there for like 5 seconds. It was frustating seeing my car going first, followed by 5 other A.I cars and then seeing all the last 5 A.I cars leaving the Pit Stop while my car was doing whatever in there for one full minute. | Posted: 02 Mar 2020 08:08 AM PST Weird request but I can't seem to find an answer. Thanks to game tools my screen doesn't turn off when a game is open, it just dims and allows me to drag to unlock. Thing is I tend to play as I go to sleep and sometimes I go to sleep, leaving the screen on the whole time. Where is the setting for the screen to also properly go to sleep? [link] [comments] | ||

| Can't find Carmen San Diego like game in Google play Posted: 01 Mar 2020 11:23 PM PST I was playing this game last year that was almost an exact clone of where in the world is Carmen san Diego but I can't find it in Google play store anymore. I feel like the apps icon was black and it was something gumshoe inc. or something similar. [link] [comments] | ||
| [REQUEST] Trying to find a specific game. Posted: 01 Mar 2020 05:08 PM PST Edit: Request fulfilled! :) I saw this guy playing this game, so I wanted to try it for myself. It's a dungeon, turn based card game, at least I think so where you enter a dungeon and defeat enemies. You roll a number between 1 to 12, when you get a number higher than your enemies roll, you deal damage to it but if you don't, the enemy damages you. You can find cards randomly throughout in the dungeon to help you during battles. (EX. "roll between 3 to 6" chance card.) The icon of the game has a black background and a purple symbol if I remember correctly. If anyone recognizes this game please tell me, I really appreciate it! :) [link] [comments] | ||
