Android Auto has massive lack of support

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 04:41 AM PDT

It should be known that at the moment Android auto with all late model Samsung phones has a major glitch.

It is virtually impossible to make calls or reply to txt or whatsapp messages hands free. You know the main reason you would use Android auto.

For over 2 months nothing has been done by support.

I'm not seeking advise as it's against the rules of the sub I just want to let everyone know about the real lack of support shown by Android auto support to a known issue. Its really disappointing.

[Question] Will the COV 19 Pandemic having an impact on the smartphone market?

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 07:17 AM PDT

I've recently taken note that after all the hype of the new phones a few weeks ago, there's seemingly an eerie quiet in Android News. Can anyone speculate what effects this pandemic might have on Producers, Consumers and the Market in general?

    App Consistency

    Posted: 12 Mar 2020 06:04 AM PDT

In a non centralized app environment such as with the google play store, f-droid and other off market stores, which is very good and healthy , I find myself with many apps that look and feel very different one from another.

Having lots of options is fantastic I want to keep that as is.

My issue is, everything is all over the place, every time I issue a command to my phone, it slaps me back with a different design language, style, ideas, conflicting with the previous screen.

This happens when transitioning form anything to anything, from the launcher to the settings, to the mail, to the clock, to the calculator.

This lack of consistency is painful to witness.

Material design tries to provide guidelines that are easy to follow but even then, it only makes everything consistently "ugly" (not always).

Within Google's material design the only thing that is permanent is the uncomfortable size of sidemenus, awful colour palette, and outdated layouts, In my opinion these guidelines are akin to the old windows 98-XP era driver installer wizards, remember those that filled the screen with 1 gradient and times new roman oblique for titles? Yeah, useful and easy to follow and allowed developers to work without designers, but you don't want to interact with it for more than strictly necessary. Material design gives me the same vibe. "when's my next appointment? -tap on google calendar-, oh god let me out of here"

In my phone I go from one beautifully design app with an ugly advert somewhere to the next, that can be pretty but in a different style, making the previews one look better or worse in comparison.

Don't get me wrong, I will pay to get rid of ads in some apps, but not all 120 of them.

Will someone take the titanic task of make a whole sweet of apps from the phone, contacts, calendars and mail as one unit? and when it is done, will we trust it by granting it rule over our personal data?

Are we doomed to a permanent mess?
