Facebook Messenger settings file - location

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 10:37 AM PST

Hi, i want to ask, what's the location to the file responsible for Messenger's settings? I want to mute/unmute app (there's setting for it inside Messenger) on certain conditions (via Tasker) and for that i need somehow enable/disable that setting automatically. So as easiest way i found shell command, googled it but nothing found. Other way is to find file that is responsible for that setting.

I was in internal menu but without luck.

    App version: 250

    Android version: 9 Pie

    State: Rooted

Galaxy S9+ touch screen stopped working after android update.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 10:30 AM PST

Had a message this morning saying an update was available. I used my phone for a little bit like normal, texting and checking news, then tapped to update it. Phone restarted like normal and started doing it's thing saying it was updating with the little loading bar. Nothing out of the ordinary.

After it finished it rebooted and went to the screen asking for my pattern to log in. Zero response to any touches, but the volume keys and power button work fine.

So far I've restarted the phone, booted into safe mode, and did a factory reset and still no luck. I sent a help request to Samsung and I'm waiting to hear back on that currently.

I feel like it has to be software/firmware related because it worked fine until I did the update, but with the factory reset not fixing the problem it seems like something electrical is going on.

Is there a way to manually try and reload android onto the phone via PC or SD card before I consider cracking the phone open?

Forcefully changing default home app help.

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:57 PM PST

    Hello everyone.

Due to some unfortunate work conditions, I have to use a crappy non-camera Android phone. This phone is called the sgINO6s running Android 9 with some version of Aurora launcher by default.

I want to change the launcher to be by default Lawnchair v2, since that is what I use on my main phone. Unfortunately as you can see in the picture(link below) there is no "home" option in the default apps section of the phone settings. I have tried multiple apps as well that "change" your launcher but they still don't default it to said launcher.

It's very frustrating manually enabling the launcher through its icon and going back to Aurora whenever I accidentally click the home button. Please help me and thanks :)

AirPods are quiet on my Xiaomi phone after pairing with an iPad.

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 10:16 AM PST

Hi. I bought Airpods and used it with my Xiaomi phone without a problem.

Then I paired the Airpods with my Ipad and the sound is very quiet.

Do you know how to fix it?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyNryiXFqtI - This video says I have to to turn a feature called Media Volume Sync on, but there's no such thing on Xiaomi phones. Do you know any other way to fix this problem?

Will be grateful for any help!

Is there any way I can password lock specific websites?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 09:11 AM PST

It's for me so just blocking won't work since I can easily just unblock it. I'll need to permanently lock the websites with random ass passwords that I'll make sure I won't remember. Any help would be appreciated.

Chrome toolbar keeps moving to the top?

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 04:55 AM PST

What it says in the title. My chrome toolbar, url bar, whatever you wanna call it, keeps moving to the top of the screen, and my thumbs aren't that long. I've tried the option to enable and disable chrome duet over and over, and until recently it was a hassle but manageable- i had to do that several times a day and it was annoying but worked. Starting yesterday though, it's reverted easily over 20 times, and it's frankly unusable. Does anyone know a permanent fix, or will i just have to change browsers?

Looking at buying a phone online from someone. I figure the power users of this sub could figure out specifically what ROM this phone has based on the seller photos.

2 spotify finds corresponding native spotify files

3 spotify creates a playlist with corresponding native spotify files.

I could use soundiiz if I could upload my local library as csv file but I don't know how to create it

Full Internal Storage Issue (Samsung Galaxy J5)

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 03:45 AM PST

    Howdy nerds,

My Galaxy J5 frequently reports that the internal storage is 96+% full, prompting me to open the storage managment utility and clear out large files. The utility generally only suggests I delete whatsapp backup files, which is fine, I guess. However these are clearly not the issue, as the utility shows that ~15GB of the 16GB is occupied by a mysterious 'other' data type.

I don't have a huge number of apps installed, I have cleared caches many times, to no avail. I have moved the small amount of images I have at any time to the SD card, I have shrunk and shrunk my pool of bare minimum apps.... Basically I have run out of in device options that I am familiar with (I work in front line tech support, so I am familiar with many of the basic fixes)

Finally, this morning I plugged it into my computer to get a better look at what was going on in the storage, and the 'Phone' disk reports as only having 550MB free (as expected) but upon examination of the files that windows reports as being in there, only ~500MB is actually used. I appreciate that with android being a Linux-y system, my windows machine probably isn't being entirely truthful about whats actually on the phone, but I'm still at a loss.

Basically, what I'm asking is: have I missed anything obvious, and if not, what can I don to fix this? I'm confident enough in my abilities to consider risky or more advanced solutions, I just need to know what they are!

Thanks guys, I really appreciate whatever help or insight you can give

TL;DR Phone full, but it shouldn't be, tried everything, send help

    S10+ moisture detection issue

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 02:08 AM PST

Hi, I have a problem with my S10+ moisture detection for more than a month and looks that service intervention is unavoidable.

Question is, should I replace only charging port, or should I replace the whole flex cable ribbon which holds microphone, temperature sensor and charging port.

Which is the best solution to go?

Application data transfer from an old version of Android

    Posted: 09 Feb 2020 01:26 AM PST

My daughter is inheriting a Galaxy S8 (running Android Pie). Her current phone is a Motorola with Marshmallow. She is trying to get her data on the new phone. She installed Samsung's Smart Switch app on both devices, and used it. It copied her contact list and her wallpaper, but that's about it. Her account information, photos, applications, etc... were not moved.

I guess she could root both phones and use Titanium Backup, but are there any other options?

My internal storage is always full - is there a good app or way to better see what takes my space and organize/delete stuff?

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:44 PM PST

It doesn't really work well with the settings option. I've got 32gb internal storage (and a 256gb sd card) which is always full despite me transfering nearly all of it to the sd. It slows down everything and is annoying for podcasts and what not.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks kindly!

Google Chrome App icon changed to a blue loading icon

    Posted: 08 Feb 2020 04:51 PM PST

I'm trying to set up my phone with Nova Launcher when I noticed the app icon for Chrome changed to a blue loading icon.

My phone is a Huawei P30 Pro. I lost it last week and erased it via Find my Device, but whoever picked it up finally returned it. Now this weird thing is happening where my Chrome icon is just a blue loading icon.

I've tried the following: - uninstalling and reinstalling chrome and nova launcher - restarting the phone - shutting phone down - using stock Huawei launcher again - clearing data on chrome and nova launcher

    Nothing worked.

I don't want to reformat because I'm avoiding setting everything up again.

    Edit: here's a screenshot https://imgur.com/a/36e4DB6
