How to make a notification vibrate and sound once, and then ideally be muted afterward? Posted: 07 Feb 2020 09:08 PM PST What I am looking to do is, get a notification as normal with vibration and sound, and then any further notifications from that app I want to not vibrate. For context, it would be the most helpful for a messaging app, where I would like to be informed when I receive a message, but I don't want my phone vibrating over and over if they are to send more than one message before I can reply. Just once is enough to let me know I have a message, I don't need 27 vibrations in my pocket. This sort of dynamic reaction to a notification would be extremely helpful for me, with the notification acting normally at first, and then if it is already present in the notification "bar" or "tab" (I'm not sure what its called exactly), then it wouldn't do something like vibrate or sound my phone. I am not sure if any apps can control notifications like this, so I am here to ask for help. I am willing to root my phone if I need in order to get this functionality, so lets me know about any method you got, Thanks! Additionally if anyone can think of a good method of receiving the notification you can let me know, I might not need my phone to vibrate or sound at all if there is a good alternative, but those are the only ways that I can think to inform me hands-free and from my pocket, and something like my phone notification led, while less intrusive, wouldn't really work. I hope you guys can help, Android Enthusiast StackExchange seems pretty dead, with most questions being left unanswered and 0 votes. [link] [comments]
Moto G7MAXX Have I been hacked Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:12 PM PST A girl was around a few days. After she left I noticed unusual updates and other. I automatically did a hard reset with all Google deleted prior. In the logs it says that it blocked me from clearing a partition when I restarted it immediately wanted to update Google sheets, slides and one more. I reset multiple times with no wifi and no Google and it still goes into hibernation until it can update apps that don't show to be installed. And I never use any of that stuff and this phone was only 2 weeks old. [link] [comments]
My mother's phone keeps opening ads Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:08 PM PST So, my mother is a tech newbie and apparently she got herself some nasty adware. And I really couldn't find it. I deleted some suspicious apps, ran malwarebytes, and tried to look for it in the dumpsys activities... but I still coldn't find it. The issue is that dumpsys has confused me even more... take a look: In the section above it appears that chrome itself is calling the adware... Can someone suggest any help? I am trying not to resort to wiping the device, but I don't have any ideas left. EDIT: Almost forgot... She has a Huawei Nova 3, running android 9.0 EMUI 9.1 [link] [comments]

| I'm looking for a USB-C cable or adapter with an 8mm long port Posted: 08 Feb 2020 11:46 AM PST Recently bought a Ulefone Armor 7 and realized the USB-C port is longer than normal. (At least 8mm) So regular cables and USB-C headphones won't work properly. I have to use what it came with. Do they make USB-C cables or adapters (Or even wired headphones) with 8mm length in the US? | How to get into my phone when the touch screen is broken Posted: 08 Feb 2020 11:39 AM PST so my phone screen wouldn't light up. per some recommendations online - i let it die and started it back up. screen came back on but the touch screen won't work. Pretty sure the internal digitizer or whatever is busted - the screen is fine but there's a slight dark spot on the bottom. it's about 3 years old, so I guess that's just what happens with use (mobile games had me pressing the screen hard probably...) for reference, it's an lg v20. *just wondering if there is a way I can hook it up to a computer to type in the code and get my stuff off the phone?* thankfully it has an sd card on it but there are some files and photos on the internal storage that I would like to get to. | Mod to invert screen colors? (Not built in stock feature) Posted: 08 Feb 2020 10:52 AM PST Since 5?, stock Android has had "invert colors" feature, but it's not really doing a negative image, but some kind of intelligent inversion. So white doesn't become black but gray, and other funky stuff. Worse, performance and battery take a hit. I don't like this. I really just want something that'll invert the screen, like iOS does. Is there an app or mod that'll do this? I'm rooted. I looked in play store and Google, but I only see mentions of built in color inversion. Thanks [link] [comments] |

Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:50 AM PST hello, recently I got a new phone from a friend (huawei p8 lite, 2017 I believe). when I first received it, there was roughly 5-7gb free space. and now about 2 weeks later, there's ~500mb free, of which less than 1/2 is available to store media with. why is this? I've installed very few apps (instagram, spotify & whatsapp). when I delete videos which I've transferred over, I always get the message "your recycle bin is full, delete permanently?", which I do. is this my issue? if not then what is? I can't get an sd card at the moment, but I will in the future if that is the only 'fix'. [link] [comments]

Don't pause music for other media Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:36 AM PST I'm not sure if this is specific to Spotify, but it always pauses when you start other media (ads, YouTube, anything) I would like to turn this option off, but I can't find anything about it. Is it even possible? [link] [comments]
Looking for a music player that works like Spotify (explanation inside) Posted: 08 Feb 2020 09:17 AM PST Hi, I think this will be way more clear if I use a picture : https://imgur.com/a/xlV5aj2 Basically on Spotify if I want to hear song A, then song B and finally song C, I can click the 3 dots next to song A, select "add to queue" and do the same thing for song B and C, and Spotify will play me the songs in the correct order (A->B->C) However, on my current music player (Musicolet), if I want to do the same things I have 3 options that I don't really find satisfying : -if I choose "add to the current queue", the songs I want to hear will just be put at the end of the current queue, which is often like 200 songs forward -if I choose "play after current song" for song A, then song B and then song C, the app will play the songs in the reverse order (C->B->A) -the only option seems to be choosing "play after current song", firstly for song C, then song B, then song A, which is OK if the songs are next to each other but is annoyingly hard to do if they are far apart from each other and I have to think about it I know my request may seem useless, but I find it very frustrating that the few MPs I've tried have no option to add the songs I want to hear right after by just clicking "add to the queue", like I'd do on Spotify, so does anyone know an Android music player that works like that? Hope this wasn't too hard to understand [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:45 AM PST Hello, So I recently was put on a list at work where I'm unfortunately going to have to be on call pretty much 24/7, which means for me I'm now going to have to keep my ringer on in the night when I sleep just in case I have to take a phone call. I'm trying to find a way to make it so when I go to bed at night that only phone calls will give me an audio notification while keeping all other notifications (text, email, etc...) silent. I'm running a pixel 3 on the latest version of Android 10. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! [link] [comments]
Windows Mobile Hotspot IP Issue Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:44 AM PST I am trying to share my wired connection over the wifi using my laptop. I have turned on mobile hotspot sharing on my laptop. My iPhone conencts to the network without any issues but my S10 cannot obtain an IP address for some reason. I have tried configuring in static mode but then it connects without an internet connection. I have looked on the internet as well, and it seems there is an issue with Android not being able to obtain an IP address. I have tried lots of things but I still cannot connect my phone to wifi. Does anyone have a solution to this? [link] [comments]
Notification of Text I just Sent? Posted: 07 Feb 2020 07:28 PM PST I have a Samsung Note 8 on Android 9. Using the factory messaging app, I often receive a notification of a text that I just sent. So, when I receive a message, I'll get a pop-up with the contact's name, and a bit of their message. However, often when I reply, I get another pop-up. This one will have my own name on it, and the message I just sent. This is not a read report, and I have seen this on more than one phone. I've done quite a bit of searching and I haven't really found any useful information yet. I already have my date and time settings set to Automatic. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 08:28 AM PST For the last several weeks I have had an issue with Google on my Galaxy S8 not connecting to the previews of searched locations. I have attempted to clear my cache, reset my account and force stop the app but all to no avail. After searching a place on Google, if I click a preview of a location a message says "Can't load this page. Check your internet connection and try again" Any suggestions? [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 12:01 PM PST Hey guys, So I am a current Galaxy S8+ user, and I've been on Android for 10 years (never had an iPhone), but my phone is up for upgrade and I will be switching to Apple and getting the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The reasons include access to iMessage (I live in the US, and 95% of the people I know and colleagues/friends/family use iPhones for chat and transferring large files), FaceTime, and AirDrop. I have a Mac that I use for content creation (music recording/production and video editing), so having AirDrop and other Apple ecosystems integrations with my Mac make sense rather than having to use Google Drive and the like as a middle-man for videos. I do also have a Windows Laptop I use for gaming and other needs though. I will be trading in my Galaxy S8+ when getting the iPhone 11 Pro Max to. make that purchase more cost effective with Verizon. I don't plan on keeping the Galaxy S8+ because I don't think I need an android device that powerful for my needs. It's also been slow and buggy after a few years of use. But I did want to purchase another android phone device without a data plan or SIM card or phone-call capabilities, and use it solely over WiFi, kind of like a tablet. Some Android features I will miss and want are NFC tagging and video game emulation (for GBA, SNES, etc. ROMS). I was thinking about getting a Samsung Galaxy Tab instead of a phone, but I read that the tabs don't do NFC tagging (I use NFC tagging to home-create amiibos for Nintendo Switch games like Breath of the Wild to get cool items). Apparently iOS now does have some NFC capabilities, but iOS users are reporting problems in creating NFC tags for the Nintendo Switch (like amiibos) while doing so is super easy and reliable on Android phones. I also want easy file management and video game creativity. It would also be dope to have another camera I could use as an additional angle in some of my music and video content I shoot (music videos and drum covers). Would would be an inexpensive Android device I could use to do these tasks in a competent manner? I am okay with going refurbished if the product still works well and can last several years. Camera minimum needs to be able to shoot and output at 1080p. Thanks so much! Again, I live in the U.S. My carrier is Verizon, but I don't need a carrier for this phone. I'd ideally want something under $200, but the cheapest I can go to address my needs adequately is what I prefer. I prefer a big screen. It will be off contract. Use is NFC tagging, video game emulation, and camera (with 1080p recording). I am brand agnostic, although for my previous main phones, I used Samsung Galaxy. I am also looking for something that has good longevity, at least lasting in decent condition for several years. And I will not use any data plans, only over wifi (it'll be basically a tablet, only with the NFC capability). Thanks so much! [link] [comments]
Whats the recommended apps for Android remote access? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 07:25 AM PST Moved to a different city and my parents sometimes have issues with their phones, need something that will give me direct access so I can help them. Recommendations? [link] [comments]
Users of the galaxy tab s4, do office apps work better than their IOS versions? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 06:44 AM PST I'm looking to change my ipad 2019 (the cheap one with apple pen support) for a tab s4. How does the note taking with the spen compare with the apple pen? Also, word on the ipad is a nightmare to use. Is the android counterpart any better? Thanks!! [link] [comments]
Taking photos at random places and sharing them ? To map ? Posted: 08 Feb 2020 06:12 AM PST So maybe I am in the forest or some park or some village. I would like to share that to maybe Google maps so others can find them or some other app/place. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:54 AM PST Phone: Galaxy 10 My last employer used GSuite for the email, file sharing etc. This was great because I just added it as an account on my phone and life was peachy. However, now I'm not working there, and I still get autofill suggestions for that account, and a new retired version of that account. I'd like to not have those pop up. I've already removed them from both the Google part of settings and the accounts part. And obviously I never added the _retired variant. Any help is appreciated. Edit: long pressing on them doesn't give me any options, simply just selects that email. [link] [comments]
Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:53 AM PST So I just got the Samsung S10 about 2 weeks ago, and I've been having this strange issue. My home screen freezes, but nothing else. I can't open any apps from it or change page, but I can open the pane with the open apps and use them as much as I want. The only way I've found to fix it is to restart the phone. I've googled it but haven't encountered anyone with the same issue. Any ideas? [link] [comments]
Double swipe notification issue Posted: 08 Feb 2020 05:45 AM PST Hi, I think my last P30 pro software update has updated the phone to the latest version of Android. There's an issue with my notifications now when I swipe them away they don't actually go away, it just brings up a cog or bin and I have to either tap again or swipe again. Basically it's fucked up a simple gesture and now I have to do the same thing twice. Anyone know how to change this back to a single swipe it's doing my nut in. [link] [comments]
