Installing a new rom on an old Galaxy S4 to use it as data hotspot Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:24 AM PST Hello everyone, I've decided to use an old S4 running Android 5.0.1 as a hotspot for my data while travelling, but I've noticed that the old TouchWiz is really sluggish and it might be burdening the battery (which I've just changed) a little too much, so I'd like to know if there's a recommended rom I can install for the purpose of using the phone as data hotspot. If someone could also link me a simple guide to follow that'd be great and much appreciated, it's been a while since I used to mess with Android stuff so I'm not a very experienced user. Chromium based browsers Not Working? Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:01 AM PST So, the Google Chrome and it's Beta, Canary, Dev channels on the play store have their sizes listed at around 6.2 MB on around 7 Android 10 devices that I checked today while in the other devices on Android 9 and below, it is still around 60 MB size. The problem isn't with the size, but as per the title suggest, all of my Chromium based browsers aren't working. I can open them and enter what I want to search, but the browser doesn't return with the results and is permanently stuck in the searching phase. Firefox browsers work properly, so does the Original Google Chrome. It is just the fact that other browsers such as Brave, Bromite, Chromium, Microsoft Edge and even Opera aren't working. My device is the stock Android running MIA2. Anybody else suffering from the same problems or any suggestions to what should I do, Please? [link] [comments] |

Huawei P Smart notification issue Posted: 27 Jan 2020 11:09 AM PST I have a Huawei P Smart. I had no issues until I reset it recently to recover my old wifi networks; since then, it won't receive any push notifications at all. I did some research and the information in this video (covering the battery permission settings and stuff) was all I could find that's up to date, I've tried every step and still have the issue. Is there anything I can do? [link] [comments] |

Note 9 One UI Beta Install Help Posted: 27 Jan 2020 10:41 AM PST Ok, so I have been trying for days to install the now closed One UI beta (Android 10) on my device. I have the AT&T variant SM-N960U and I saw where the unlocked models are able to register for the beta program through Members, so I flashed the unlocked SM-N960U1 firmware to my device with the regular CSC and full factory reset. Worked great, everything works as expected and I see the banner in Members for the beta. Afterwards, I found out that since the beta is closed, the banner doesnt work and I can't register. I did a little digging and found where to download the Beta 1, 2, and 3 to sideload. However, I'm at a point now where whenever I try to update via SD card or a sideload, the device tells me the zip "has unexpected files" and says "Status 7" "Installation aborted #1" After searching through the forums, I've found that apparently the Status 7 error is when there is a signature mismatch due to rooting or some other form of status change, therefore OTA's won't take. Is this because I flashed the unlocked firmware, even though it was official? How can I fix this and HOPEFULLY get Android 10? [link] [comments] |
Help diagnose my phone! (started charging slowly, already replaced batt and charging flex) Posted: 27 Jan 2020 10:26 AM PST A couple of weeks ago my Mi Max started doing some weird things i havent been able to pinpoint the reason. Not sure if important, but it was Water Damaged slightly in November, still has some "dots" in screen, but the whole phone had been working perfectly all around since November (after living inside rice for 3 days) . Basically it started charging VERY slowly out of nowhere. Tried different chargers, cables, wall plugs, usb voltage tester seems to point the guilt at the phone (same cables and chargers charge different phone correctly). Replaced the Battery, still the same issue. Replaced the small flexcircuitboard on the phone that has the micro usb plug (charging), issue is still the same. I have to keep it connected at all time with a regular charger for the phone to "hold" its charge (it breaks even when using/charging) Only charges when the phone is POWERED ON, it charges very slowly (screen has to be turned off, otherwise it just stays there) If i turn the phone off, it wont charge (this is super weird!) If i set the phone to restart, it stays off, like if it tried to restart, but stopped after powering off. To power it back up, i have to hold the POWER button for longer than usual, and sometimes it seems like it doesnt work. (ill push for +20sec and nothing happens, i do it again and it powers on) All in all im at a blank i was sure it was the battery, then i was sure it was the charging circuitboard... but that didnt help... Any ideas what i could try or what it could be?? [link] [comments] |
Galaxy Active 2 Not Transcribing Voice to Text Posted: 27 Jan 2020 06:30 AM PST When I press the microphone button to send/reply to a text using text to speech, it says "speak now" like usual and acts like its listening but doesnt pick up anything, just sits there waiting. Finally it says it needs a network connection but my phone is connected to data and they're bluetooth connected. Not connected to wifi at work but never have been and it's been working for the past several months. Tried updating, rebooting the device, and resetting the "send voice recordings a messages" setting. Started being very slow transcribing speech yesterday and completely stopped today. Apex Launcher removing app icon Posted: 27 Jan 2020 10:09 AM PST I have been using Apex for a while now with zero issues but lately my messaging app (textra) keeps disappearing from my dock. Any ideas on a fix for this? I've tried contacting them multiple times but never get a response. [link] [comments] |
Problems with my router on android devices Posted: 27 Jan 2020 09:43 AM PST So, recently i am having some network problems. First, my Google Play wasn't installing apps, it download but don't install. Only in my wifi and only in google play (in my brother cellphone too, both android devices). So i decided to rest my router and it went fine! But another problem appeared: this time in whatsapp. Now the download of media is fine when i connect in the wifi (the first moments) but after 2 minutes it's too slow do download, like, REALLY slow. It takes too much time to load one single image. I called the assistance and they changed my modem, but the problem is still remaining there - and only in android devices apparently. I can send images, send and receivve messages normally, it's just very slow when downloading. I changed the DNS to the google one in my phone and even tried to reinstall the app, but nothing happended. My brother and i have different phones in different versions of android. What i could do to solve this? Any router setting to change? Btw my wifi has one year of use but only now this problemas appeared. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:12 AM PST Moto E4 Plus It charges when it wants too, sometimes it'll say not charging but will have the charging symbol, and then it'll finally start receiving power from the charge port. I have to bend it a certain way and then let it rest as well, which I don't mind. Will I need to take it back to the place i got it fixed at and have them take a look? I don't want to pay more money for a simple fix [link] [comments] |
Font setting in developer options. Posted: 27 Jan 2020 03:24 AM PST Hi y'all. I got a Nokia 6.1 with Android 10 and I recently noticed that there was a new setting in the developer options. Its called Headline/Body Font. It changes the font of the system. Now this is something that I have been waiting for since I got this phone. However, there isn't much option for changing fonts except Noto Serif/ Source Sans Pro. I would like to know if there are more fonts I can access from this setting. Thanks for the help. Posted: 27 Jan 2020 05:27 AM PST I went on holiday recently and took a lot of photos using the GCam port. All photos taken on portrait mode have gone missing from both gallery and Google photos when I uninstalled GCam and installed the new version for Android 10. Is there any way to recover those missing photos? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jan 2020 03:18 AM PST Trying to root and remove bloatware to free up space. Help? Kitkat 4.4.2 I realize this isn't the best tablet and probably closer to one of the worst, but I have it and I want to find a use for it. Any help on how to free up as much space as possible and giving this this a purpose would be helpful. Any advice appreciated. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jan 2020 08:17 PM PST It was a display overclock mod, that made display's refresh rate 81 hz instead of 60. I was a dumbass and didn't read the fine print, therefore not knowing that the 75/81 hz mods didn't work on MIUI 11, and now I'm suffering the consequences. I do have fastboot installed on my Mac, but I don't know how to install the right dtbo file through it to hopefully fix. Does anyone know to help? [link] [comments] |
Can I change the main google account on Android or do I have to do a factory reset? Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:01 AM PST I'm getting an old tablet from a family member. There are no personal data on it (they kept all of it on an sdcard and I'll be getting a new card for myself). It's already setup to my liking and it has a lot of apps already installed and setup as I like them (dark mode, notifications, etc) as I've been using the tablet before. The thing is, it's using the google account of that family member. So my question is: Is it possible to remove that account and start using my own account without having to reset the whole thing and install and setup everything from the start. Is this possible, and will it create any problems in the future with updates and such? If it is, I would appreciate if you could advice me on how to do that as well. Thank you for your help.
