How do I prevent Youtube from translating videos titles in my own motherlanguage?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 12:36 PM PST

The auto translation is kinda goofy and off to say the least and I can't find any way of doing this.

Changing the my Country only changes the suggestion to Country related fluff so I'd rather keep it "global" if possible.

Galaxy S10+ Has Mobile Network Problems Without VPN

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 09:10 AM PST

Ive been having an issue the last couple of days where certain apps and websites refuse to connect. I try logging into Wells Fargo and it gives me an internet connection error when using both the app and navigating directly to the site in Chrome. When I turned on the free VPN in the Speedtest app Wells Fargo opened with no problem. Most other sites work without issue but others refuse to load without the VPN. Not sure if it's my service provider but I've reset my APN, have no updates, and reinstalled all effected apps with no luck.

How do I stop Spotify from changing my lock screen?

X1 controller no longer works. Has anything changed?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 04:47 AM PST

Hey guys, I have a OnePlus 7 Pro which I've used with Xbox One and PS4 controllers in the past.

However, if I plug in my X1 controller now, it vibrates, but nothing happens after that, and the controller does not function. The USB connection manager gives the usual 'File Transfer', 'PTP' etc. options, none of which make a difference.

I tried the controller by just plugging it in and by plugging it in alongside trying to 'switch it on' using the Xbox button on the controller, which only continues to blink.

I also checked the same on a Nokia 8.1 and the result was the same. So far I've tried five X1 controllers with both these phones and none work. However, all of the X1 controllers work fine with Apple TV, X1X and PC (with supported connection types - Bluetooth, USB, Wireless Receiver for Windows).

Interestingly, I'm able to use my PS4 controller just fine, using the same cable - plug and play on both phones. Both phones are stock running the latest Android builds.

Could you help me figure out what the problem could be? Did any update break the X1 controller compatibility with Android? I cannot find a clear answer on the internet.

    Please help! TIA!

tl;dr: X1 controller works no mo', leads to fomo.

    Weird text in settings

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 11:50 AM PST

    Hello,

I have a Sony Xperia phone running android 8.0 Today while opening the settings tab I noticed something weird - under the Connectivity tab there was a weird string of text - "%1$s" which after a fraction of a second turned into "NFC" just like it should be from the start. It happens again when I reopen the settings app. Why is this? Is this some sort of malware indication? I run a kaspersky antyvirus and malwarebytes scan with no bad results. Is this some sort of laggy old phone thing? Am I paranoid or should I be worried? Please help

    A pretty alarming discovery.

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 10:42 PM PST

I own a OnePlus 6t. I'm really happy with the phone ever since I upgraded from the OnePlus 5. I've had the phone for a little over 6 months and recently I've been noticing some strange random occurrences. Sometimes I would be either on 4G or on Wi-Fi and I would lose internet connection. Just for about a minute or so. For a while I thought it was just my service provider but this is actually happening no matter which wi-fi I connect to. I started looking through the apps on my phone and I started deleting random apps that I hadn't used since I had my OnePlus 5. I found one app and when I tried to uninstall it it said this is a system app. I found that odd seeing as how I downloaded it from the Google play store. I had found out I had uninstalled it before and I guess the icon remained. I figured out how to get rid of it but while I was investigating I noticed something a little alarming. I looked through the forums and I discovered that my phone would normally have anywhere between five to eight gigs in system apps. When I checked it out in settings I had slightly over 50 gigs. Naturally the only way that I could actually see what's going on in the system folder is by rooting my phone which I want to try and avoid. Am I being overly paranoid or do I really mean to do a factory reset on my phone?

    To-Do app

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 07:04 AM PST

Hi, just wondering what To-Do app do you guys use on your phone?

At the moment I'm using Microsoft To-Do, and it works great just thinking if there are ways to sync it with Google Calendar/Tasks. I've tried Google Tasks, but find it too basic for what it is.

Would be great to know what you guys prefer, and how you make it work.

    Thanks

anyway to force nav bar dark mode on all apps at a certain time of day?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 11:13 AM PST

From what ive seen the nav bar changes color depending on the app, does that mean its not possible to make a universal color change of the nav bar? How about for rooted/xposed phones?

    Need help with my S7...

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 10:50 AM PST

So I accidentally set a direction lock on my device, I can still get in as I have a fingerprint but I can't change any of my security settings...

Is there anything I can do to remove the direction lock as I can't access any security settings due to the lock being on. Also, will getting rid of it remove the data from my phone?

    What should I do?

    Fake Android internal storage? How?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 10:24 AM PST

I bought an Android tablet that was supposed to have 64 GB of storage.

The Android settings says 64 GB but a file manager app said 16 GB.

When attached to a Windows PC with a USB cable it said 64 GB.

But I can't put more than 16 GB of files on there.

How did they managed to trick Android into reporting it as 64 GB?

Is there a way to "prove" the real storage with an app so I can get a refund?

    Thanks

Huawei SuperCharge doesn't work even with original huawei supercharge adapeter and cable anymore - tried everything and nothing works!!!!

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 05:38 PM PST

Can anyone please help me, I cannot seem to find any solution online to this or answer. I have a Huawei P10 plus and it use to SuperCharge just fine and one day it stopped and will only charge normally with use of the original supercharger adapter and cable. If it's plugged into a fast charger adapter and cable it will fast charge just fine.

I have a feeling its the adapter as it says it's a 'switching power adapter' and fear it's switched to low current but won't switch back now regardless and was wondering if anyone knew a hack to make it do so?

I've tried everything in the book from cleaning the charging port with compressed air, to factory resetting the phone, wiping the cache partition etc. I know it's not a battery issue either as I have a battery app I use to test the voltage the battery is receiving and when plugged into a standard charger with cable it receives the maximum amperage output the adapter advertises.

Please help as I have taken it in to the service center already, and they have replaced the battery with no change.

Just hoping someone out there has a hack to be able to trick the adapter into outputting the maximum amperage or voltage so that the phone can SuperCharge again. :(

    Thanks in advance.

    Please help me!

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 09:34 AM PST

I am currently playing with a cheap Blue Studio J1 Android 6.0 Jenkins 80-8 #2 kernel. When using USB to do anything, I have a problem. For instance, I am trying to unlock Tue boot loader, I know its possible, but when the phone goes to fastboot, it drops connection.

The USB options menu will always reset to charge only, anytime the connection drops. Adb reboot boot loader obviously causes a momentary drop in connection causing the USB options to go back to charge only....

Can anyone please help me make the USB options persistent? People have rooted this thing, and it even has a couple ROMs available. So there must be a way to do this. I am hoping hat I have overlooked something small, or stupid. Any tips, tricks, or help is deeply appreciated. Thanks for your valuable time.

[Help Request] Just received my new phone, it had 0% battery out the box. Do I have a dud, immediate RMA, or how can I test if it's bad/OK?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 09:33 AM PST

After waiting 2 weeks for the thing to arrive - it was supposed to arrive within 48hrs, thanks UPS - I opened my nice new phone packaging, put the case on the phone, installed a tempered glass screen protector, and... nothing, deaded, no life. A few minutes of panicking later convinced it was FUBAR I tried charging it and sure enough, 0% battery, it couldn't even show the battery charging indicator until it had been on charge for 10-15 minutes.

Now I'm worried because everything I know about phones is that all phones ship with 30-60% battery. So, do I have a dud, should I immediately RMA/replace it? How could I test it to tell if it's a bad cell or completely fine and just someone got lazy in the factory and didn't charge it?

    Edit:

Wow, gotta love Reddit - a concerned person asking a genuine question... DOWNVOTE!

Update: With the phone off and charging from a standard 1amp USB port on a PC, after nearly 3hrs of charging it's only showing 32%. Based on that it's going to take 9-10hrs to fully charge. WTF! It must be a bad one, surely?

Question: Is "Edge Sense Plus" Magisk module still working after the new January update?

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 09:14 AM PST

I hope this is the right place to ask this. If not, please let me know. Maybe in some root/Magisk/Pixel sub...

I have Pixel 4, rooted, with Magisk and "Edge Sense Plus".

I used to use this module for a tiny, simple reason: I wanted that squeezing the device would turn on/off the flashlight.

It used to work up to the previous version I had on the device, but after I updated recently, it stopped working by squeezing. It might be the update, or that I disabled the assistant in some way (I don't really use the assistant, and don't want long clicking the home button to do anything). I tried to re-enable it, but failed.

Can anyone please help on this?

Recently booted up an old Galaxy S5 and it's tripping balls

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 08:55 AM PST

    Hey guys,

As I'm getting more into programming & electronics, I want to mess around with a non-valuable android. I dug out my old Galaxy S5, charged it to 100%, and turned it on only to find that the home screen kept "glitching" (like moving some of the home screen elements vertically up & down really quickly). After a few minutes of this, the screen settled down and showed a few notifications. However, the touch screen does not work at all so I can't unlock the phone. Since it's been sitting in my dresser for a good 3 years, I suspect that CPU or OS memory must have become corrupted (if anyone can confirm/deny that it would be great). Is there any way I can fix this by uploading a fresh version of the android OS with my pc or something along those lines?

    I need a pick-me-up..

    Posted: 14 Jan 2020 12:20 PM PST

Hi there, I have a HTC U11, I like it, it's on PIE but still feels current. Battery life is good, it's responsive and everything works as it should. I can't complain about it really. But I'm bored!

I don't want a Samsung, defo don't want an Apple! 🤢 I'm not keen on [insert chinese phone brand] because, well I don't know, just not keen.. I thought about Nokia, but there aren't really any desirable models.. Don't like the periscope selfie camera on OnePlus

I feel like a married man with a great wife, but I just want more! Some wireless charging maybe? Perhaps a better camera? I do really love the U11, I'm not sure the upgrade to a U12 is worth it..

Maybe if I just give 'the wife' a good rooting and a new lease of life?

Help me decide, please. Tell me I'm wrong. Offer me a U11 with wireless charging and a great camera that spits fireworks and has a beer tap....... idk

    What am I losing out?

    Posted: 13 Jan 2020 06:27 PM PST

I sent in a Samsung S10 973U1 (US unlocked) to Samsung for a warranty repair.

They replaced the whole thing with a refurb S10, 973U, that's locked to AT&T. They said they're going to unlock it.

    1) Will a unlocked GSM/ATT phone work on a CDMA network (Sprint)?

    2) What am I losing out on, if anything, by getting a 973U back instead of the 973U1 that I paid for?
