So i read that oneplus 7 pro has 12 gigs of ram. Does anything achually utilize that much ram?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 06:59 AM PST

They claim taht more ram helps speed and game run better. But does any emulator or game achually can use taht much ram? Does this achually make a difference or just hype and marketing?

Google Play Games will not open

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 06:19 AM PST

Through various updates, reinstalls, and more, my Google Play games will not open. I click the icon, a white screen pops up, and it closes instantly. Any tips? I've tried clearing cache, storage etc. My login to other games works fine, but the app won't open.
If this is not the right sub to post in, feel free to tell me.

How can I change my system language settings without changing the language of my other apps?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 12:07 PM PST

For context I'm taking AP Chinese, and as an ethnically Chinese person I wanted to see how well I could function if the stuff on my phone was all in Chinese (time/date, copy/paste, notifications, etc.). However, I changed the language settings and now my Google News feed is all from weird Chinese websites that I'm not interested in. My default search engine on any browser apps is now Baidu. Is there a way I can individually tweak the language of apps—particularly Google apps—and still keep the systemwide Chinese language?

I have a Huawei Mate SE running Android 8.0. Thank you in advance!

Has anyone else had an issue with Google Assistant randomly turning on?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 07:32 AM PST

It's been a problem for a couple months, just out of the blue my Google Assistant will trigger. I'll be driving with google maps open, and out of no where it will just open. I was sitting here watching netflix and it just opened. I'll be scrolling reddit, and it will open. I like having the feature enabled for when I need it, but it's incredibly annoying, especially when it randomly goes off during a meeting at work.

Is there any possible way to make your phone completely unrecoverable after wiping it?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 11:16 AM PST

I was looking through forums and till now I have not found any way to make your phone completely unrecoverable, it seems not possible, but at least there must be a way to make it difficult to recover, apps that claim to do this process are sketchy, there's this famous way that requires you to record videos or make your phone's memory full of stuff that aren't private ( movies, music, etc) till the phone's becomes full, then reset it, and all the recoverable files will be the ones you put after the last reset, is it effective? what's the process behind if there's an explanation, thanks

Is it possible to disable getting notifications from certain apps, like reddit, during a set time of the day, like 9am-5pm? Does Bixby Routines have anything like this?

Soft bricked device that won't enter into recovery mode

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 03:41 AM PST

    Hi folks

Recently picked up my old tablet, a Nexus 7 2013, and remembered why I stopped using it a few years back. I tried to update the tablet to the latest version available and it started having problems. When I try to boot up, it gets past the android / google logo and says something about "unfortunately setup wizard has stopped". Now I am assuming some file has been corrupted in the update process. However, I can't seem to boot into recovery mode by holding the power and volume buttons down. All that happens is it boots continuously from the Google startup logo to the android startup screen and then flashes black, back to the Google startup screen again. I'm not entirely sure what has happened, but the device is rooted.

Do I have any options for pushing software changes from my PC? Or is this thing just dead and not coming back, short of official maintenance on it (something I imagine is quite unlikely given its age)?

    Samsung or Google?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 06:47 AM PST

So, long story short, I own an A70 and I was wandering whether I should use the Google apps ( Google photos, music, etc) or the Samsung ones? What's your opinion? ( I would prefer answers for people who have used both Samsung and Google apps, but if you haven't, don't worry, just say yout opinion as well!)

Where are my mystery notifications coming from?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 10:26 AM PST

I have an LG G6 with Andoid 8.0. Recently I've been getting mystery notifications from some unknown source. They are always 3 in a row like this...Ting, Ting Ting. It's so annoying because even right after they happen checking the notification tray shows there's nothing new there - nothing ever pops up on the screen either. Total mystery source. They happen at random times and I just can't seem to figure out which app I can stop, to stop these unwanted notifications. I installed an app called "recent notifications" but that only tracks the ones which actually appear in my tray. Is there maybe a log somewhere which I could check to find out who is Tinging my tinger? THANKS

    Alternative to Z Launcher

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 10:11 AM PST

Once upon a time Nokia made an android launcher called Z Launcher. The special thing with it is that the main way of accessing apps is by writing the first few letters in the app name on the home screen.

Does anyone know of any other launcher that is similar? Unfortunately Z has not been maintained the last few years

What are the effects of overclocking an AMOLED Display to a higher refresh rate?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 03:58 AM PST

I want to overclock the display of my Redmi K20 Pro and I'm wondering what the effects of it are.

I'm planning to keep the phone for like 3-5 years so I'm worried it'd affect the display in some permanent way. Is it okay if I overclock its display and will it have any negative effects?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 06:06 AM PST

My phone screen turns off at the usual time (2 mins) instead of staying on for 5 minutes like it should. Ive already enabled change system settings permission but it didn't fix it. this only started happening since I got a new phone on android 9

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 09:23 AM PST

It happened suddenly but Chrome and a derivative, Via stopped rendering the pages correctly And instead gives just garbled code. I think it's Java Script. Is this a bug with chrome, and should I wait for an update with a bug fix?

I downloaded other browsers to check what was happening, Firefox had the same issue, But samsung innternet, chrome canary and uc browser work just fine.

Here are some pictures: Chrome (Picture 1) Chrome (Picture 2)

Alternative for Samsung Flow with MacOS compatibility

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 09:21 AM PST

Long story short: have a S9+ and just got a MacBook Pro from my college for classes. I love Samsung Flow on Windows and I've been looking for a MacOS alternative so I can easily send files needed for my school work to my Mac as well as access my messages and remote into my phone for the messenger apps I have that aren't compatible with curtain applications like Samsung Flow. Any suggestions?

Best way to hide phone scratches?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 09:05 AM PST

I've had some deeper grooves (levels 6 & 7) scratches on my screen. It's bugging me a lot. I plan to buy a whitestone dome. Will it be enough to conceal the scratches? (I was also stupid enough to remove the screen protector)

    I own a Note 10+ btw.

Can't see previous searches in search bar

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 08:58 AM PST

My young son was playing with my phone and somehow he's managed to change a few settings, I got most of it back to normal except one thing. Whenever I click in the search bar, my phone no longer shows previous searches, it will show me trending searches, I really liked being able to see my previous searches.

Does anyone have any idea on how to get them back? I tried factory resetting the phone, but it didn't work, so I'm guessing its an account setting I need to change

    Hello,

I bought a used LGv30. When I do a factory reset I am prompted with the following:

Your device software cannot be checked for corruption. Lock the bootloader.

I cannot figure out why this comes up and I'm not sure how to fix it ?

    Any help would be awesome.

    Need help unbricking a Lenovo Tab4 8 (model: TB-8504F)

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 08:05 AM PST

    Hi!

I borrowed this tablet from a friend who said I could use it for awhile. I was installing OTA OS updates to the device and I think I inadvertently hit the power button at a bad time while futzing with putting it in a case. Now it won't boot and just hangs on the LENOVO logo screen.

I can hold volume up + power and get to the Android 8.1 Recovery menu. I've cleared all the data and cache, but that didn't fix it. I think I will have to restore the firmware on it, but am open to other suggestions.

Now, finding that firmware has been a real challenge. It looks like a russian "lenovo forums" website hosted the file at one point, and literally everything links to that russian website and file, but all I get is a 404 when trying to download the firmware file. I was able to find the Tab4 8 Plus file, but that doesn't match this tablet.

I already told my friend who said not to worry about it, but I feel bad and want to fix it. I can't find anything useful on the Lenovo support pages, except other people mentioning the russian website and getting the firmware file from there. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Ne emojis appear in keyboard but nowhere else. Any fix?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2020 07:23 AM PST

So, there are some recent emojis that exist now. My google keyboard has them. I can write them, and send them, but they never appear in any of the apps I have. They won't appear in received messages, and if I type them in with my keyboard, they won't appear in any of the apps either.

Is there any way I can solve that?
