Why do all of this? As we know, Nvidia does a great job keeping their Shield devices up to date and provide the best Android TV experience there is. Notable runner up is the Mi Box S. With vulnerabilities in mobile OS devices always being found, and with Sony's neglect with updating all of their Android devices, including Bravia TVs, that leaves one new approach vector as an avenue for not only your TV to get hacked, but your entire Google account and possibly your entire home network as well. For example, my x850c has not had a security update since May 2019; others here haven't seen an update for their Bravia TVs for 1.5 years. Google has patched Android with security updates numerous times in the past 6 months that my x850c is now lacking. A 6 month window for providing security updates, if they even supply them at all is not acceptable in this day and age. For a TV that originally ran $2400 at launch to barely get security updates after the 1st year is unacceptable. I personally do not buy Bravias for the Android TV/Smart TV experience, but instead for the great picture quality, post-processing tech, etc. By turning your Android TV into a dumb TV, you are securing your Bravia more and instead getting a much better, faster and stable and customizable Android TV experience with a 3rd party Android TV device. | Is the mi box 3 going to have an android 9 update ? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 01:06 AM PST My box is still on android version 8.0.0 with android security from march 5 2019. I also have bluetooth issues. My bluetooth headphones keeps disconnecting from my box every 10-15 min and sometimes start to have huge sound delay of 2-3 second from the video. I tried to unpaired and paired my device again and again with no difference. My headphones also work perfectly with my phone so mi box is really the problem here. I am starting to get sick of this box since I only use it to watch videos quietly when I finish working at midnight. [link] [comments] |

I just wanted to know if I was the only one that wasn't able to get Disney+ re downloaded after going to Android 9 Pie on Mi Box S. I had to reset and when I go the play store, it's not there. | Posted: 29 Nov 2019 01:34 PM PST I just got a brand new Phillips Android TV and I have been able to setup every app except HBO Now. When I select the app it opens normally but I don't have the ability to sign in or navigate in any way. I have clears the app data, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, and hard reset the tv by unplugging it for 3 minutes. Any help would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
