The "forget network" no longer exists in my Wi-Fi settings

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 12:23 AM PST

I travel a lot and end up connecting to open Wi-Fi, but often a given network doesn't work, but my phone still tries to connect to it later. I used to be able to click on or long press the network in Wi-Fi settings and then click "forget", but that option seems to have disappeared. What should I do?

    Phone Bricking Contingency Plan

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:11 AM PST

So I asked before about this, but I never got a clear response about what I would do in such an event.

However, some searching on the XDA forums provided some insight:

It appears that unbricking the Redmi Note 8 Pro from a bricked state is possible, but it seems to require an authorized Xiaomi account(?).

Research into how to get an authorized Xiaomi account points me to forum threads on the Xiaomi community fourms where people request authorization, but this seems to be an old thread that may not work anymore.

Again, in the worst case scenario, what would I do if I bricked my Redmi Note 8 Pro in the worst way possible, would it be recoverable in any way?

Edit: I just found "https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-anti-rollback-protection-brick-phone/", which gives a good explanation of the "worst case scenario" and what to do if it happens (Not much other than find someone with Authorization to go into EDL).

Why do Google apps make their dark theme exclusive to the latest Android versions?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:49 AM PST

Is it that hard to implement in pre-Android Nougat? It's a fucking paint job! Makes no sense 😡

Is microsoft going to delete my inactive account?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:39 AM PST

I saw that microsoft will begin deleting inactive accounts after 2 years.

It also said it wouldnt delete accounts that made purchases.

Does it mean literally any purchase?

I think i bought a 2 dollar app years ago. Does that mean its not getting deleted?

Is there any version of TWRP that can decrypt for Pixel 2XL yet?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 03:53 AM PST

The latest version on the website doesn't but sometimes there are beta builds floating around. I'm not good at finding that kind of stuff.

    Help with phone charger

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:19 AM PST

Hello! So I have a doogee BL5000 and it works well but the charger is not working properly. The problem is I already bought some different chargers and they don't work. It shows that the phone is charging but the battery never goes up, sometimes even going down. Is it because the charger "doesn't have enough power" to charge my battery? I'm getting worried because the original charger barely works. I don't know if this is the right subreddit to ask this question but if it isn't please tell me where can I get help.

Which Android to choose? And then which service?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:01 AM PST

Hello! I recently received two Android phones as gifts and am wondering which would be the best one to choose to use. One is a ZTE 385 the other is a Verizon LG.

The only smart phone I have used before was an iPhone (6s?) until I accidentally smashed it to pieces recently. Before that I used it pretty sparingly: call my family now and again, take some photos, use a map, look up something quick on the web. All of which is to say that I don't need anything super fancy.

And too: if you know of a good plan to use with either one, I'd love to hear about it. I tried looking up both phones via their IMIE's on visible.com but neither were compatible. I live in Massachusetts.

Issues with Pixel 3 XL & Android Auto

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 10:26 AM PST

    Complaints incoming

Dark mode turns itself off when plugged into car stereo and I have to re-enable dark mode when I unplug.

Android Auto randomly stops, sometimes several times in less than a minute. Other times, once an hour or so. The fix is to usually take out the USB-C cable end and replug it back in. Other times, I have to do that and power cycle the car stereo. This issue has been happening through 2 phones, LG V20 and Pixel 3 XL with 2 different cords and 2 different stereos.

I use the Google Podcasts app and my listen history of various channels is randomly forgotten.

Sometimes Waze and Maps, when my phone is first connected to my stereo, says I need to launch the app through the phone first before I use it for the first time.

Help, I think I messed up my phone. Moved some files to my SD card and now I can't open messages.

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 10:22 AM PST

TLDR: (Moved some important files to an SD card and now my phone's messed up.)

    .

    I have a Galaxy J7V with only 16gb of storage. I recently got a 32gb SD card

and started to move all my pictures to the card and deleting the originals off my

phone. I got a little carried away trying to create more space on my phone and

ended up transferring the folder that says android, LOST.DIR, and System

Information. I'm noticing I can't seem to access messages anymore and all of

my attempts at restoring these folders and deleting them off the card seem to fail.

So am I screwed? Any help would be appreciated.

    .

Edit: (seems I've been able to get rid of some of the folders, but the Android folder keeps popping up instantly after I try to delete it, even when I deleted it on my computer it came back when I put it in my phone again.)

Google search on Android no longer obeys quotes?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 10:17 AM PST

Has anybody noticed, on Android Galaxy, that google search seems to retun what it wants to, now? Searching phrases in quotes is ignored. I've got a few different browser apps, and it doesn't care which one I use. It's only been doing this to me for less than a week. Last day or so, I've actually resorted to Bing.

Looking for a phone with a 9:8 launcher that I can root

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 10:15 AM PST

One thing that I liked about my old Droid Bionic was the launcher size. While the screen was 16:9, if you swiped left or right, the wallpaper would pan as well. The Droid Bionic had a launcher size of 1080x960 and thus have created a lot of wallpapers in that aspect ratio.

I had a hard time finding another phone that had this 9:8 launcher aspect ratio. None of the Samsung phones are like that and neither is my wife's Alcatel.

I eventually came across an LG LGL44VL, which has a launcher size of 960x854, another 9:8 but I am having a hard time rooting that device despite dozens of websites and rooting tools claiming that they support that device. They all fail to root the phone.

So, I am here asking what phone that has a launcher aspect ratio of 9:8 that is at least somewhat recent that I can root effortlessly?

Will the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 (2019) get an update to Android 10/One UI 2.0?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 10:03 AM PST

I just got this tablet a couple of days ago and love it, but it's hard to see what device is slated to get what. I just got Android 10's beta on the Note 10+ and it's awesome - would love to see it on the tablet too if possible.

    Galaxy Tab S2 becoming unresponsive

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 09:31 AM PST

The screen on my Galaxy Tab S2 is becoming more and more unresponsive. It freezes up for periods of a minute or two, failing to accept input from the keyboard, and then, if I have continued typing, showing it all at once. I am a fairly fast typist. It reminds of using a real typewriter and the keys jamming. The screen is still very clear, no apparent loss of illumination or definition, no apps misbehaving, on the main screen you can still swipe the icons left or right very easily, just this laggardly behaviour with the keyboard. The only thing I can remember doing to it recently was giving it a wipe-over with a damp commercial cloth, like one of those baby wipe things. It had accumulated a certain amount of texture from fingerprints and dust and whatever. Is this what happens when a tablet ages? Is there a remedy?

Having issues with the app lock/unlock button

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 09:35 PM PST

I accidentally locked an app in recent apps and can't unlock it. Everytime I try to press the lock button it enters the app. Same goes for locking apps. I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me out. My device is running on Android 9.0. Here's a screenshot:

    https://imgur.com/a/Rns1W4a

Edit: I solved it. On my phone you have to scroll the app below once to lock it and again to unlock it.

    Do you use app lockers?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 12:06 AM PST

I've been using MaxLock for several years and it's brilliant, however I started questioning the user experience with app lockers. It's actually not satisfying to have a beast like OP7 Pro and being slowed down by locker's pop-ups. Do you guys use it? What are your thoughts? I use it in case I give my phone to anyone, to make sure they don't abuse my privacy.

Why is there randomly now a clock icon on my lock screen and taskbar?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:48 AM PST

A few days ago, I used the stopwatch on my phone for the first time in months or more (Stopwatch was a coincidence). Now, on my lock screen, and at the top of my taskbar (not sure if that's the right word for it, but here), there's a clock icon that won't go away. Why is this here, and how can I make it go away?

Other details: The stopwatch is zeroed out. There are no pending alarms or timers. This state has now persisted for days, and nothing is happening. The time shown next to the icon on the lock screen clock seems to increment with no rhyme or reason. It's currently increasing incrementally approximately 8-9 minutes from the current time, but at other times, stays "stuck" on a specific time for hours.

Edit: TL;DR: It was because of a time-based profile in Tasker. Switch "Use Reliable Alarms" to never, then toggle one of your profiles and click the checkmark, and the clock will go away.

Afterglow Xbox 360 Controller support for Android?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:36 AM PST

    Hey there,

I have an Afterglow Xbox 360 controller PL:3702 that I'm trying to use for Fortnite Mobile. Every single button works great except the right analog stick, agghh. It's so close to working but I don't know if there is any solution to this.

The right analog stick doesn't work, and the RT and LT act as the right analog stick for some reason.

Anybody have a solution for this?

Edit: I'm connecting the controller wired, through the OTG adapter on my Pixel 3 XL, Android 10

Stuck on TWRP logo screen after trying to root

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:16 AM PST

I'm in the process of trying to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2019 (SM-T510).

I used Odin to install TWRP, but now the tablet is stuck on the TWRP logo right after startup. I can force a restart, but it simply loads the TWRP splash screen and gets stuck again.

I think I may have installed an incorrect version of TWRP. It was labeled as being for the 2016 version of my tablet, while I have a 2019 model, so I assume that may have something to do with it?

    LG Q7+ Headphone problem.

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:12 AM PST

So I have had this phone for less than a year now with t-mobile and as of November 14th in the evening, my headphone jack stops working. I contacted LG about it and they provided me some steps to solve the problem. However, the steps seem outdated and do not match to what is in my settings menu. I also tried to reboot the phone and nothing happened. I also cleaned the headphone jack and nothing seems to work. I really don't want to format the phone and I also find it hard to ship the phone out for two weeks for repairs/ hardware troubleshooting. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Stereo is in reverse or bavkwards. Left and right sound is backwards!

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 08:05 AM PST

For some reason I always have to wear headphones backwards because my sound is reversed. Nowhere in the settings is the option to reverse stereo, just to change to mono. This is really annoying ad I bought new headphones thinking it was them, but its not! Its the phone! It also does it when I have it plugged into any auxiliary cable. I dont think the phone was always doing this. I tried doing a soft reset but its still doing it. What should I do?

    Its an LG stylo 2+
