    I live in South America, I am looking for advice to buy a cheap android box

    I need

    recent chip (which is better?)

    ethernet and USB

    enough RAM to stream HD from IPTV or from USB/LAN

    HDMI

    here in bolivia models and availability come and go

    so which brand / chip / models should I look for?

    Best Android TV Box/Stick for my uses

    Hello all. So I am insanely frustrated with the lack of space and performance of my Fire stick 4k as of late. I am looking to switch to something better(more ram, better UI speed, and more storage space)

    I have a custom launcher install as well as Kodi with several add-ons and a custom skins as well as you standard Netflix, Shudder, Prime Video, ect

    I would need to be able to use ADB without a PC(laptop is ancient, runs Windows 7 with first gen USB2 ports) it's a nightmare to get any sort of ADB recognition on the thing.

    I am not looking to break the bank. Just something with increased specs and is easily customizable would be fantastic.

    MiBox S does break flash drives

    Hello Guys.

    I wanted to let you know my opinion about MiBox S and flash drives.

    Some months ago, I bought a MiBox S for my uncle and used his flash drive to put some APKs on the MiBox as they are not available on market. The flash drive got corrupted and it could not even boot anymore.

    I thought that my MacBook adapter for USB Flash Drive did break it.

    Today, I tried my own MiBox S and 128GB Storage to sideload again some APK, and the Flash Drive went corrupted and dead within some seconds of usage.

    So, please ignore this product or at least do not use a flash drive on it.

    I haven't managed to get these working on my TV for the past two years. They've had massive input lag and stutters.

    That was until a couple days ago I found some older reddit post about "disabling hw overlays" to fix input lag.

    Did that in the android dev settings and they work perfectly now, but the issue is that everywhere else I've read that this setting shouldn't do anything and is only for debugging? So why does it work?

    It also messes up the colors a bit, making them look slightly washed out.

    Remapping input button to switch HDMI input

    I have a 65" Sony A80J. I'm trying to remap/customize the input button on the remote to switch the HDMI input from my DirecTV receiver to the HDMI input for my Nvidia Shield. In the Button Mapper app, I added the input button/enabled Customize/selected Double tap/Applications/and tried Input, Input Menu, Inputs, and Inputs Menu. When I double tap the input button, the input options appear at the bottom of the screen and then auto scrolls to the last option.

    Ideally, I want to double press the input button so that it automatically switches to my Nvidia Shield. I should note that my Nvidia Shield is plugged directly into my Sony soundbar. I prefer to keep the setup this way, but if I need to plug it in to one of the TV HDMI inputs, so be it.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Possible to cast Samsung TV to Android TV?

    This is a pretty specific case but I would like to cast my Samsung TV to my Xiaomi TV stick so I can see my console on 2 screens.

    Seems like Samsung got some kind of DRM so I'm not able to screenmirror then cast. Couldn't find or think of any other workaround

    Chromecast on Android tv

    My father wants to get a new tv, but the only tv on sale is an Android tv (even though we have a Chromecast with Google tv) since that's the tv he wants, he isn't used to the stock Android tv interface as much as he is used to the Google tv interface and software, is there a way that I could disable the Android tv and keep the TV's input to just the Chromecast rather than the Android tv

    Followup question: should I now throw away my Google tv or should I keep it now that my dad is getting an Android tv

    I just replaced an older 2015 Philips Android TV with a newer one that has Android version 10.

    But this one seem to lack one of my favorite features.
    By stepping up/down in the up/down/left/right control, I could see the current and next shows for other channels.
    When I do this on the new TV, it just changes channels, like pushing channel up/down.
    It still has the separate TV-guide, like my old TV, but that function interrupts the TV image/sound completely. So its useless for quickly checking whats on next , without missing whats on right now.

    Is there any way to get back the old feature?
    Like downgrading to the old UI, or installing some app?
    It was one of the main reasons I got an Android TV this time again, instead of something else.

    Can someone confirm that the MiBox S can support a portable (non-powered) external drive with a capacity of 5TB?

    I know that Mi Box S only has one USB 2.0 port, so I want to be sure that it has enough power to power a portable external drive.

    The external drive I want to buy is either the "WD Elements 5TB" or "WD My Passport 4TB".

    Washed out colors after some hours, it happens randomly. Problem with HDR? Need some help.

    Hello everyone.

    I have a Thomson THA100 which is basically a rebranded Leap S1. After the UI update (the one that introduced ads, sadly) I started having troubles with colors.

    What happens is everything works fine, but after a few hours, or after exiting apps, the colors in Android TV become completely washed out. It's like there's a sepia effect applied, with extremely weak reds and such. I tried messing with the resolution/color options with no results. A restart will also not fix it.

    I switched the HDMI cable and that seemed to have fixed it, colors were back to normal, but then it happened again later, so it's not the cable.

    The TV also seems to not be the problem, because the colors are fine when I bring up the built-in TV UI. It's only Android TV which is broken. It feels like a software bug or something like that.

    Any help with this? Thank you.

    TCL Android TV sound output (headphone jack) sucks. What can I do?

    Hey there, so, I got a 43'' TCL Android TV, and while the sound quality of the speakers is decent, the sound it outputs through the headphone jack is really bad, lacking most of the bass.

    How could I deal with this problem, through software or hardware? There are almost no sound settings on the TV and equalizer apps didn't help at all. Bluetooth is also far too laggy to be usable.

    I'm really really desperate for something to try as I really like the TV, but this issue is really putting the breaks in my fun

    Onn 4K getting terrible 2.4GHZ WiFi?

    I haven't noticed this issue until today as I was using my Onn, on my 5GHZ.

    For some reason, when I connect to either of my 2.4GHZ APs with the on, it's claiming speeds like 2mbit-8mbit out of my 100mbit Internet.

    5GHZ as expected gives at least 85-93mbit.

    What's weird is, when I speed test both 2.4's with my phone, they give at least 20-50mbit each.
