Xiaomi TV Stick 4K audio issue

    Posted: 25 Mar 2022 05:45 AM PDT

I just bought the new Xiaomi 4K and it is fast and snappy. It just has one annoying issue. The audio volume seemingly goes up and down on it's own. It is not the TV volume because there is no dispaly on the screen. I need to keep manually adjusting the volume which is annoying. Anyone else experiencing this?

How do I turn off Restricted Mode on SmartTube? New problem

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 03:18 PM PDT

So my device is a google Chromecast. Normally you can turn off restricted mode from your profile pic, at least on the PC. There does not appear to be a setting in SmartTube to do this on the chromecast. I have 14.36 version

So never had this issue before. I clicked on a video of Ana De Armas posing in some publication and it said

This video maybe inappropriate for some users

I keep hitting play and it does zip. Nothing

    Anyway to fix this?

Nokia Streaming Box 8000 has especially high internal volume?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 11:43 AM PDT

The Nokia Streaming Box 8000 is an SEI Robotics SEI600 using the Amlogic S905X3.

The same board is used in several other certified boxes available at retail, including the Homatics Box Q, the Youin You-Box EN1040K, the Lefy 4K (Botech Wzone), and others.

The Nokia has the highest internal volume output of any certified android TV box I've ever used.

By internal volume, I mean using only audio output over HDMI directly to the TV (and its internal speakers), without any separate sound device.

Every other certified android tv box I've used has been lacking in internal audio output.

But with the Nokia Streaming Box 8000, the internal sound level output is so high that I can keep the android volume control slider just above its lowest setting.

I can't imagine that the physical hardware is the difference, but rather the Nokia must have some android setting at a different value than most other certified android tv boxes.

    What might that setting be?

Can Onn streaming box give writable access to a flash drive?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 03:11 PM PDT

I've formatted the stick to ntfs, which works fine on the box and comes up as readable. I tried moving my kodi over to the flash drive , but there aren't any options for it. Also, tried moving my files in my kodi library to the stick and everything fails. Is there any way to make my flash drive writable on the box or is my only option to do it on a pc. I specifically use kodi for reasons, and I Don't want to download shows and movies to my flash drive because I like when they update automatically in my kodi library without me downloading anything. All I want is for kodi (or the movie/tv paths)to be moved to the flash drive because they took up pretty much all the space on the box and I kept getting Low storage . I really don't want to use my laptop or anything else.

Onn Android TV vs. Chromecast with Google TV - SmartTube

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 02:13 PM PDT

Trying to get rid of ads for Youtube when we cast from our phone to our TV, my son doesn't want a PiHole and I don't want to buy Youtube Premium. I currently use an old-school Chromecast now on a Samsung Smart TV.

What's the cheapest or most effective solution for this? Do I need to buy external storage for the Onn or Chromecast with Google TV? Does the Onn have Walmart quality and is there a noticeable difference vs. the Chromecast?

Our ultimate goal is to be able to stream videos from our phones to the TV without annoying ads playing, is there a way to do that? (I heard of people just using the history function on SmartTube but we don't want to do that)

    Latest AndroidTV Update Deletes SmartTube

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 06:59 AM PDT

I just updated my HiSense TV's AndroidTV firmware and noticed afterwards that my SmartTube app had been deleted. I guess it makes sense because Google owns YouTube and Android and they want you to watch their YouTube ads or pay to make them go away. I'll be using my Fire Stick exclusively from now on.

I can't cast screen from my laptops, but casting apps work

    Posted: 24 Mar 2022 03:19 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

I have a curious selective problem with casting on my (Miracast and Chromecast built-in) Android TV:

My both laptops (wiith Windows 10 and 11 respectively) and my Android phone are unable to recognize my Android TV as available for casting. Windows+K menu shows no available devices, stock casting option in my phone just searches forever.

On the other hand, Youtube and Netflix casting both from laptops and smartphone work seamlessly... AFAIK Youtube uses Chromecast, but again, chromecasting an entire webpage again doesn't work - TV simply isn't listed among the options.

I think it has something to do with how the computers and phone "see" the TV - on the computer, in the Windows Devices menu, I can add the TV as a device, but only through Bluetooth, not when I choose Remote screens and docks.

    What I've tried so far:

    • ensured that all are connected to the same wi-fi (which is obviously not the problem as Youtube and Netflix casting works)
    • cleared caches and data for Miracast and Chromecast apps in the TV, even reset the TV to factory settings
    • tried other software - third party casting phone apps work, both for casting photos and whole screen

    My hardware:

55" TCL 55P715 TV; Lenovo Ideapad 5 running Windows 11; ASUS ROG laptop running Windows 10; Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 smartphone

If anyone has suggestions as to what might cause the problem, or at least what else I could test, it would be much appreciated.

Connecting my soundbar through ARC immediately crashes the google TV chromecast display.

    Posted: 23 Mar 2022 08:46 PM PDT

As in title, the chromecast display immediately crashes if I connect the soundbar through the ARC port. The chromecast audio remains playing however. It's a 2 year old hi-sense TV. Anyone else had something similar?
