    I really don't know when this started to be supported but here's a video example with Dolby Digital Plus audio, Dolby Digital should also be supported of course but I still haven't found a video with it, please share one if you know of any.

    [Help] Removed bloatware (I thought) from my Philips TV, now the TV boots to recovery after 2 minutes

    Hey,

    I got tired of all the bloat and ADB:d into the TV to remove what I thought was only bloat. Apparently one of the philips apps i removed, either org.droidtv.playtv , org.droidtv.nettvrecommender , org.droidtv.nettv.market , org.droidtv.eum , org.droidtv.demome are the culprits I would gess. Anyone that knows where to find them so that I can adb them back? Tried updating firmware through recovery but those apps are still missing, resulting in the tv crashing to recovery after 1-2 mins. I read that these apps were safe to delete so it should'nt be causing problems. Also removed:

    com.google.android.youtube.tvmusic

    com.amazon.amazonvideo.livingroom

    com.apple.atve.androidtv.appletv

    com.google.android.youtube.tv

    And a few other apps that could be uninstalled in normal android storage. Any expert that could give me some advice? I also cannot acces sources, so something with the tv is off

    MiTV Stick unresponsive

    I have a MiTV stick and everytime I use it for an hour or so, the remote wouldn't be responsive. Sometimes even when I click just one time, it scrolls registers the click multiple times. Unpairing doesn't even work as when I unpair, it doesn't bring up the pairing screen after. It's been a hassle to restart the stick and/or bring up the phone app just to control the TV Stick. I also can't let my parents watch tv alone cause they wouldn't know what to do when the remote doesn't respond.

    I tried with Activity Launcher and they're not hidden, they're just not part of the system.

    Is there any way to solve this?

    A List of Ways to Speed Up Your Android TV Device

    I've been using Android TV since the Nexus Player first came out and I have some tips to speed up your device that worked for me. These are obvious to advanced users but newbies will find these useful.

    • Remove the Google TV launcher and replace it with FLauncher by using the instructions in the link below. (Advanced)

    • Disable the Google app if you don't use it. Go to Settings > Apps > Google app and Disable it so it never runs in the background. (Easy)

    • If syncing Google info isn't important to you, disable syncing of all your information to your Android TV device so it never syncs in the background. Go to Settings > Accounts > Your account > disable all the sync activities like Calendar, People details, Contacts, etc. (Easy)

    • Experiment with using open-source apps instead of using proprietary apps that use a lot of resources. Use S0undTV instead of the official Twitch app. You can also try alternatives to popular open source apps like Kodi. I prefer using /r/NovaVideoPlayer/ over Kodi, for example, because it is Android native.

    • Don't let your device storage get close to full. Stop using apps that constantly download data. If you have a big Kodi library with tons of metadata, you may have to just use Kodi without downloading metadata.

    • Keep your device away from hot devices like the back of your TV or other devices that emit heat. Put it in a place with good airflow or at least a cool surface. Some people even report putting their device on a small metal surface to use as a heatsink to cool it further.

    ONN UHD Hardware modification

    So I have a couple of these lil guys floating around, and I don't have any problems with them doing their stated purpose.

    That said I wouldn't mind tinkering tweaking and repurposing one of them with a bit more utility (more storage, I/O, etc)

    I'm wanting to add a battery pack and potentially an SD card of sorts (USB to card is fine) but in looking for schematics/diagrams, internal photos, teardowns, hell anything came up fruitless.

    Any idea of plausibility in adding a dedicated power connection thus freeing up the otg connection, I'd prefer to NOT have a host cable, taped to a hub, hot glued to a lipo battery. At least not as a final version.

    Mi Stick Perdendo Conexão de Rede Wifi

    Pessoal, comprei meu mi stick no AliExpress em Setembro de 2021 e desde então só tenho chateação, pois o mesmo não funciona na minha rede Wifi. Ele conecta e depois de algum tempo ligado perde a conexão e diz que não existe rede Wifi conectada. Já troquei roteador, mudei canais, fiz vários procedimentos e mesmo assim continua com o mesmo problema.

    Já formatei ele na tela inicial várias vezes e mesmo assim nada.

    Estou muito chateado com esse aparelho, de forma que não indicaria essa dor de cabeça pra mais ninguém.

    Alguém já passou por isso e resolveu? Por favor, podem me ajudar?

    Audio and Video from different sources/apps?

    Is it possible two get different sources for Audio and Video? By sources, I mean apps or casting.

    Basically, I would like to cast audio while having a YouTube video playing, or the other way around.
    Is this something Android TV can do, or is there no way of getting around the "one media source" limit.

    For now, I am using a hardware solution, with my TV's app playing YouTube, while I am casting Audio to my Shield TV, with my AV-Receiver mixing the two.
    While this works, it's a bit annoying to get running every time.

    I have 2 2021 MECOOL KM7 I bought last month but whenever its not being used and only the red light is on, the remote cant turn it on no matter what. I have to unplug and plug it back in to fix it.

    Not sure if anyone have this issue? I have a mecool mk2 and that works fine but the km7 have power on issues. I even went into developer mode to disable sleep and disable screen saver but doesn't fix the issue completely

    I went into Settings > Watching TV > External Inputs > Manage Inputs and it shows the correct name but on the Input switcher it shows a name it came up with all on its own.

    When chromecasting from laptop to TV the volume automatically goes up to max.

    This happens despite the volume of the player not being on max or the volume of my PC/laptop not being on max...

    Any idea why this happens? Does this happen to everybody?

    This happens mostly with not so popular websites like Odysee for example. (Is this the reason?)

    Need some advice on streaming/play video from external source to an old tv

    Good day fellow redditors,

    my father has a very old smart TV (probably so old it doesnt even support apps, or at least i havent found any, but its got a browser) and increasingly often it wont be able to decompress video codecs, either not being supported, or just cause the tvs cpu just cant handle it.

    i was looking into some "easy" kind of fix, like an upgradable dongle that can read pen drive/external hdds (you know, to not have the same problem in like 5y) or a streaming-like service from his PC (i saw many online, but they look hard to actually set up) that arent at 300$ like most, at that price hed just get a lappy for 250$ and call it a day, but its actually a waste of money and gear, since he only needs to see media on his TV, and nothing else.

    Any way to turn OFF Ambient Mode?

    Edit: I found a way to turn it off. It's a bit counterintuitive, but go into Ambient Mode settings and select the "Art gallery" option. Then on the art categories list, go through and uncheck all of the boxes and then go back. It should now be disabled. Going to leave this post up for anyone else who might have the same issue. Hopefully they will just add an "Off" option at some point in the future...

    I'm trying to find a way to turn Ambient Mode OFF, yet there doesn't seem to be an option to do that in the TV settings or in the Google Home app.

    It's a TCL 6-Series (55R646) and it says it's fully updated. Currently on OS Build AR2101.

    Really don't want to have to reset the whole TV just to turn it off...

    When I press [Update] it tells me that the app is not supported in my country.

    What is the latest version of Discovery + for Android TV?

    Hi Can someone help me how to clean this flatscreen tv of mine? My cat spayed in my tv and I couldnt remove it just by using a dry microfiber towel. Any suggestion how yo get rid of it? Im also too scared that if I put some water on the towel it would damage the internal screen

    Onn 4k device Disney Plus Issue

    Anyone have the problem of D+ content descriptions showing HD and not 4k on their Onn device? My TiVo 4K stream is having the same issue. They are both plugged into 4k tvs. If I use the native tv apps it's showing that the content is 4k

    Sony XH90 Volume problem

    Hi guys, I have a Sony XH90 connected to a Bluetooth Samsung soundbar. When I turn on the tv the soundbar turns on and the device connects. Very well. Sometimes before the soundbar connects I have a volume blow like it is at max level and suddenly return normal. Can't reproduce turning off the tv and soundbar and turning again on.. suggestions?

    Curious if anyone knows the answer, I just started to use STN today and I love it.

    1.Is there a way to get back to your video if you put it in the background? Instead of PiP I did only audio, but I don't know how to get back to the video after it minimizes.

    1. Is there a way to queue songs? I found a button saying Add/remove from queue, but it looks like it does something but doesn't actually change the queue at all.
