I wish they didn't get rid of translucency in Android 12

I got my Pixel 6 in today and so far it's pretty good! But one of the big things I noticed was that the notification shade, multitasking menu, and app drawer, all kinda look like garbage? At least compared to my previous LG G8X and LG G7 One.

On my G8X for example, when you pull down the notification shade you get this nice translucent blur over most of the screen, and the section with the quick toggles has a darker, rounded corner look. It looks really elegant and I've even adopted a similar look on my Linux desktop. Here's a sample from the G8X. You can kinda see my wallpaper blurred out in the background, it looks super nice. I understand it's a skin on top of android 11 but even on my G7 One, which runs totally stock android, it also had a similar look.

Meanwhile on android 12, when you pull down the shade it turns the entire screen dark grey (probably because I'm in dark mode) and there doesn't appear to be a way to change it? Here's that sample. The same is true on the multi-tasking screen and the app drawer, where both my older phones had a nice blurred background of either the active app or my wallpaper, and my new phone with android 12 just has this plain grey and black look.

I do like a lot of the things material you does with the accent colors, I think a lot of the apps look nice! But I think in these few cases, it just looks like it's forced and unfinished. I REALLY don't like the solid color look on these overlays. If maybe there's a way to change how it looks I'd love to hear it, otherwise I guess I'll hope for them to change it in android 13?
