    AndroidGaming Community Updates - Nov 19, 2021

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 02:24 PM PST

    Hi /r/AndroidGaming,

Recently you might have noticed a few changes have taken place over the past weeks. As you might be aware, there are a bunch of relatively new mods (including myself) who joined the mod team to help improve the experience in browsing this sub. I want to communicate the changes we've made so far to help improve your experience:

    Flair changes:

We've recently re-enabled and updated the flair headings to better reflect the nature of the posts. e.g. Game Request has now changed to Seeking Recommendation as the flair has seen some confusing uses before. We've also integrated a Help/Support flair for any support questions or when looking for a specific game instead of recommendation.

In the coming weeks we're hoping to enforce flair usage for posts so each submission can be better categorized.

    Automod/bot changes:

You might have received comments/responses from Automoderator or the FlairHelper bot for your submissions. These are changes we have made to help alleviate some of the manual work the mod team needs to handle. Note that a comment from Automod doesn't mean your post is necessarily removed (can be just a reminder), and there will be false positives as we iron out the kinks... but if for any reason you feel your post has been removed by mistake, please, reach out to us and we can discuss.

    Side menu changes:

We've added a subsection to the side menu for the redesigned Reddit, the first button prepares you for a seeking recommendation template (more on that later). The second and third button are filters to customize your browsing experience of the sub by removing some flaired posts. This is still a relatively new addition so we're still working on adding more when the need arises.

Note that the filter might not work properly after the initial load - this is an issue that seems to be currently happening across Reddit, and we are hoping it'll get fixed soon.

    Top Menu changes:

We've added a sub menu on top of the redesigned Reddit called Play Store deals. It'll bring you to two search queries within a related sub /r/googleplaydeals that shows you discounted and free games (which I've started to crosspost here recently but didn't want to overdo it). Hopefully some of you will find this useful.

Game Request / Seeking Recommendation changes:

This is probably the biggest piece. Due to Rule #6 there often are Game Request threads being removed as not everybody supply the minimum 3 criteria that is asked. Sometimes it can get tricky to interpret what is a criteria and people get confused. We get questions from time to time.

This new Game Request Template seek to clarify that for both you and us. We've listed all the criteria here so that when you ask for a game, you would consider what each of these category means to you, so that others can suggest a more meaningful game than randomly throwing games out. It could also serve to help others in the future when they search this sub.

In the coming weeks we plan to have Automod enforce this template, and once we get that going we'll start updating rule 6 to reflect this change as well. But for now we hope this template can help clear the inconsistencies in game request threads. When this gets going we will likely remove the 4-day cycle of stickied post for Game Requests as well, since, well, everybody is just making threads now anyhow.

That's it for this update for now. In the upcoming weeks when we iron out the kinks I'll probably send another update out for everyone. Meanwhile, if you have questions about these updates or ideas on how to improve this community, let us know down below!

Looking for a casual castle defence game I used to play but can't remember the name of.

    Posted: 20 Nov 2021 05:06 AM PST

Hey, as I said above, I used to play a casual castle defence game a while back. It had kind of a battle royale of player vs 3 A.I. kind of gameplay and Voodoo-like army sprites. It wasn't really that great or challenging, but it was fun way to pass time. Did anyone else play that game and knows the name still? Thanks.

TapTap Md5 error while downloading Wild Rift?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2021 03:51 PM PST

Hello, I live in India, and the game hasn't released here so TapTap is my only way to download it. But always when it reaches 98%, it says "Failed to check Md5, please try again" and gets stuck at 2 GB (Total game is 3.98 GB).

Does anyone know how to solve this? Or can you please point me to the correct subreddit for it? Any help is appreciated!

[REQUEST] Single player games to play on long journeys with a story of somewhat and strategy

    Posted: 20 Nov 2021 12:28 PM PST

    Single/Multiplayer: Single

    Genre: RPG/JRPG/RTS/TD (not too picky)

    Online/Offline: Offline

    Monetization/Cost: Any

    Portrait/Landscape: Any

Key Features: Story (not too picky about any other things) , Strategy (games that'll make me think about my choices)

    Any additional info/details/similar games:

Kingdom Rush (+Frontier/Vengeance) - enjoy the art style, simple story but the gameplay is complex and has replaybility.

This is the Police - need strategy/ have to make decisions, small story.

FEH - enjoyed the tactics part of the game and ability to customize characters. (would not prefer gacha games though), enjoyed the art style.

I'm using google fit to track my walking distance for pokemon go, and I'm not sure if I need to make it "never sleep" for it to work well in the background. Does sleeping apps save that much battery? Should I allow google fit and the game to never sleep?

[REQUEST] need help finding this game!

    Posted: 20 Nov 2021 11:06 AM PST

It was a mobile game from the play store but for the life of me I cant remember what it was called (I swapped to a new phone and lost it)

It had an idle aspect, the setting was a dark phantasy and there were many quests you could complete with these weapons you could find. ( to if not more than 6) it was text based but had some animations as damage was being delt.

Extremely theory crafting becuase you choose a main class and then you had weapons that would fight for you and each weapon did something particular you also have perks as you level and I believe you could have up ton 5 weapons? There was a tower as well and pvp.

I hope I'm not to vague but I'm hoping someone else plays this or has and remembers its name.

How does the server merge works in those auto RPG with hundreds of servers?

    Posted: 20 Nov 2021 08:23 AM PST

You see, one of the things I hate the most about those games is how they split their players in hundreds of servers, but isn't like it has coop or real time online gameplay, it is mostly a single player experience that requires internet to play.

They usually suggest you to join the latest created servers because the olders are usually full and OP, if it was a realtime mmo with pvp/pk, then they are right, it would suck being new and being destroyed randomly by the top 1 player, but in those kind of games, that isn't usually an option, you have the ladder PVP which is just compare Power Levels and the strongest wins without your input, for those who played a lot or payed a lot, they have a strong spot already, so you ahve to build your power there, if they don't allow new players to join, then how does those players show their power? Joining a new server and paying a lot? Seems like a dumb system.

Anyway, main reason I drop those games is for that, but most of them usually claim they merge servers, how does that work? I never played one enough to see how that worked, the one I played the most may be Wartune, but I was a dumb kid and didn't knew what was going on, just my monke brain enjoying the numbers going up.

If you are on server 220, you could eventually end up in the same server as server 14? I think they have different timezones (Wartune did), so maybe the ones with the same Timezone get merged? Is there any chance any pro will be in the same server after starting in different servers? Because if they are merging servers is odd that the server number keep increasing drastically (sure, it brings whales to hit top 1 easily, which is lame), some even hit servers higher than 1.000.

[REQUEST] Free RPG with compelling story, aesthetic, and music?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 08:27 PM PST

My favorite mobile games I've played are Sdorica and Another Eden, so anything like either of those would be great. I've seen other threads asking for similar games to these, but they are a few years old, so hoping maybe something newer exists that is similar.

Doesn't have to be a gacha game, but as gacha games I like that these 2 develop stories for each character you collect and give them skills that really make each one valuable.

One thing I hate is too much numbers management, like having to equip all sorts of runes and gear slots that don't change character appearance. I want some immersive gameplay, not menu hopping.

I would also appreciate non-anime-esque, but I realize that's asking a lot. I'd love to hear just any free RPGs that you think have a great story, art, and music.

    Thanks!

[REQUEST] Looking for Japanese anime Action-RPG with character editor and walking animation

    Posted: 20 Nov 2021 04:35 AM PST

Hi! I'm looking for a game... well, I wrote it in the title, didn't I? :)

However, here are some details for what I'm looking for, bit by bit:

    • "Japanese" means that this game should be made in Japan by Japanese company. I like Japanese culture, I like how they're doing things.
    • "anime" - should I explain it? :)
    • "Action-RPG" - I've just tried Alchemia Story and understood that I don't want to play with turn-based combat system. This is why I'd like to play a game with action combat system.
    • "character editor" - probably, the main point of my request. While I like watching anime with good protagonists, in games I prefer to create my own character.
    • "walking animation" - when I tried to play SAO: Integral Factor (a true MMO based on franchise about MMO), I found out that you can only... run in this game. No walking animation for you. I prefer to play in immersive way, so this small detail means a lot to me.

Also, note that I didn't write MMO, meaning that it's not important for me. However, premium (not f2p) single-player games are more welcome - even though I understand that there's probably no way to find them. Also, I don't care about the year of game's release.

This is pretty everything what I'm looking for. Maybe, this text may sound a bit rude and even arrogant because I wrote a lots of points with very high requirements. I just tried to be more utilitarian because these are the things that equally important for me and I will welcome every suggestion that fits these points. Thank you in advance!

[REQUEST] Any rhythm games that let you make your own charts?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 06:27 PM PST

I've seen a couple that let you put in your own song and then it creates a chart for you, but those are always either too simple or completely broken. I'd prefer if it was in the guitar hero style where the notes scroll down and you have to time taps as opposed to something like cytoid.

Is it possible to see all devices that support a specific game in the Play Store?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 02:36 PM PST

I am looking for a new phone right now and there are some games which I would like to play on it. To make sure that they work on the new phone and that I can easily install them (without downloading the APK from somewhere for example), I would like to check which devices are listed as compatible with the games in the Play Store. Right now I only see which of my current devices is compatible and I don't see a way to check for other devices.

It would be great if someone could help me with this!

Gamepad remapper to change mapping of physical controls?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 12:03 PM PST

I am looking for an app that will let you remap controls on a physical controller. For instance if I wanted to swap the x and y buttons...

I have an android device (powkiddy X18) that has a gamepad built in. I'm trying to play Xbox game pass cloud games on it. The games stream very well, the problem it the triggers on it are digital not analog, so they are not recognized by the xbox app. So playing an FPS game, you cant aim or fire... The xbox app has no configuration settings for controllers. And the games themselves don't let you remap each and every button, they only have preset layouts...

What I'd like to do is find a program that will let me rearrange the button assignments.
