Must-have apps on an Android TV?

    Posted: 02 Sep 2021 06:32 AM PDT

    Hi folks,

I have an Android TV and since I came across on SmartTubeNext, a really good Youtube-replacement, I was wondering if there are any other useful apps that might not be available via Google Store officially, such as SmartTubeNext?

I also use Kodi, which is great for watching videos stored on NAS and AceStream for various video streams.

New Sony TV with Google TV and confused

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 03:35 PM PDT

Just got a Sony TV that has Google TV on it. Haven't signed in with my google account. But reading through here it sounds like it's not recommended? That it's better to to get a separate streaming device like perhaps a Fire Stick? Or does it matter if I make a new google account just for the TV?

Do I need to do one or the other to get to use HBOMax or Disney+?

    Thanks!

    Live channels duplicate channels

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 07:22 PM PDT

Long story short I was experimenting with PVR live I got it running but decided to uninstall it, I'm back to using just Pluto and Xumo TV. My problem is xumo TV has a crazy amount of duplicate channels , is this from the PVR live or something else. I uninstalled PVR Live, Live channels, xumo, Pluto, and when reinstalling I still have the same problem is this a Xumo TV error? I also have to mention I cleared all the cache. Any input would be appreciated.

    Library/Purchased Titles on CCwGTV

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 06:02 PM PDT

Just noticed that the "Library" tab has been updated to include the watchlist, and "Purchased movies and shows" is below. However, I'm only seeing 4 of my 2 dozen + movies with seemingly no way of seeing the rest. Has anyone else experienced this? I can see them in the Google TV Android app...

Walmart Onn - Plex QSV encoded choppy video?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 03:38 PM PDT

I recently tried my hand at encoding video for Plex via my laptop's QSV encoder. When I play on my Onn UHD set top box (not the streaming stick) it stutters video but audio is fine. Doesn't matter bitrate or audio format. If I play the original HEVC encoded video, it plays fine so I am using that. But I wondered if anyone else can confirm that QSV video stutters on their Onn Plex client, and if NOT, what are your settings on both the Plex client and the Onn unit? Thanks everyone

Disney+ sounds hollow/tinny on my Android TV

    Posted: 01 Sep 2021 01:56 PM PDT

So, i have a Hitachi Android TV, it has a 4K UHD screen, so naturally I watch content in 4K. I've noticed Disney+ sounds really hollow when watching 4K content, and this sound issue is resolved when streaming in the lowest quality (SD). Is there any fix to this? I'm not going to stream content at SD quality just so the sound is good, but i don't know how else to fix the sound issue.

    Thanks in advance!
