Phone counting screen time when my screen is off? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 08:19 AM PDT So, my phone just sent me a notification that I was on my phone for 15 hours more than the previous week. But that doesn't make any sense, since I just started working again, so I had less time to be on my phone. I go to check it out, and it says my screen was on for 24 hours on Sunday and Saturday, and around 12 hours the rest of the days. But this doesn't make any sense, since I definitely turn my screen off at night and when it's not in use, and usually am not on my phone for any more than 8 hours total on my days off (and less than 4 hours on the days I work). Not to mention my days off are Sunday and Monday, not Saturday Sunday. So why is my does it say I my screen was on for so long? It says the screen was already on for 10 hours and 17 minutes today, despite the fact that I just woke up less than 10 minutes ago. I'm at a loss for why this is happening. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Aug 2021 11:50 AM PDT hello, i honestly don't know if this is the right subreddit (?) to comment in but i'm having issues with my android phone. it broke two months ago from an a fall and the screen wouldn't turn on however it would still buzz when i plug in a charger and still do the alarms i have set for specific days. i got it fixed in a repair shop two months ago as well but now my phone suddenly flashed red lines on the screen so i freaked out and shut it down, shortly after i tried turning it on again the screen lit and then suddenly shut off? it was the same from the issue i faced it with two months ago. it won't turn on and would buzz when charged. i took extra care of it since it got fixed, i don't recall dropping it or overcharging it so i'm wondering what the issue may be? i really need to know because i can't afford to go to a repair shop and make it fixed again. Something is using my data in the background but it's not a visible app Posted: 15 Aug 2021 11:39 AM PDT Recently I noticed that something keep using my data but even after checking the apps data consumption I still can't find the culprit. I can see that my upload bandwidth is used at max speed when I open GlassWire. (I also can confirm that it's not a cloud application that is synchronizing my files) My phone is rooted and I'm looking for a powerful tool to find what service is using my data. Any suggestion please? [link] [comments] |
How to get web links in YouTube app to open chrome Posted: 15 Aug 2021 06:59 AM PDT On my last phone (note 10+) when I was in the YouTube app and there was a link in the video description I could tap it and it would minimize the video to the pop-up and open the link in chrome. Now (s21 ultra) it opens it in the YouTube app. It brings up a browser that covers the video and has to be closed to get back to the video, it is not a separate instance. YouTube is set to open YouTube links by default and chrome is the default browser. And all the googling comes up with is how to open the YouTube app from chrome. I looked through all the settings I could find in the YouTube app. I'm at a loss on how to fix this. [link] [comments] |

Why uninstalling system apps through ADB cause problems like battery drain? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 09:34 AM PDT I have a realme device (running Android 10) which came preinstalled with a lot of bloatwares. Few days ago I used adb to uninstall a lot of apps, like the default browser, file manager, facebook bloatwares, gallery etc. But now I am facing a noticeable battery drain. So now, I am thinking of factory resetting the device to get back those system apps. But this time after resetting, I am thinking of disabling those apps instead of uninstalling.

Posted: 15 Aug 2021 05:14 AM PDT Is there anyway to have a shortcut on your home or menu screen that goes directly to the keypad? You usually have options to go into Phone, which shows calls, or Contacts, which show your contacts, but nothing that goes straight to keypad? [link] [comments] |
network settings are completely broken. Posted: 15 Aug 2021 12:32 PM PDT I have a pretty old phone, with Android 7, I just recently realized how out of date it is, but even if I want to system update, I can't because my phone will not connect to wifi. I switched locations, and it wouldn't connect to the wifi there. Assuming it was a bug, I decided to power off and on again, and it froze on the "powering off" screen, which I found a way how to fix, but it will do this every time now. The solution I thought of for fixing the issue was to reset network settings, but when it asks me for my pin, I hit the next button (or whatever the arrow pointing to the line means), and it does nothing. I couldn't find anyone else online having this problem, I don't know if my phone is just too old and finally croaked or if there is something I'm doing wrong. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Aug 2021 12:25 PM PDT I have a Samsung Galaxy s21 5G running the most up-to-date Android 11. Recently I have been unable to see or access any data on my secure folder. I can turn on the folder and move content to it just fine, but I cannot see that content anywhere now. (More specifically the Secure album not showing up.) Any idea what to do would be most appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Aug 2021 07:18 AM PDT i just opened my gallery and found that an album is missing, an albums that contains more than 6k of images is no longer on the phone i searched everywhere. [link] [comments] |
Do frozen apps consume battery? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 10:54 AM PDT I used to have a lot of apps but I don't use all of them daily so I have set all the apps to auto freeze (they cannot run in background). Will they still consume battery if I don't open them but they are only installed on the device? My phone (android) has 2 GB ram. [link] [comments] |
CCL Error Invalid Notification Meaning? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 06:50 AM PDT I just got this random error code message on my phone. It's never happened before. I have no idea what it means. Anyone have this happen before? Is it serious? [link] [comments] |
Should I get the A52 or S20FE? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 10:20 AM PDT Am thinking of switching back to Samsung again, reason being that 1. I miss Vanced on Android, 2. the customizability of android itself and how one ui is my favorite Mobile OS by far, and 3. How it easily syncs with windows devices (I have a ROG laptop for school and and Your Phone is ridiculously awesome for syncing and ecosystem shit). I also have controlling parents who have promised to control what I watch on my phone, maybe my bedtime? (Prolly not but playing safe just in case) when I'm in college, and due to our conflict I just want to cut myself from them as much as possible for the next four years until I can go no-contact. I was thinking of switching to the A52 because it's basically a S10 at a lower price at this point (with the chipset, 120hz screen, long OS support, etc) or the S20FE (because it's an upgrade compared to the A52, and some carriers don't have the A52). All I need is a good phone with AMOLED, at least Snapdragon 845 performance, wireless charging, and a triple camera setup with OIS. What should I get? [link] [comments] |
Reset Android Tablet from Treadmill Posted: 15 Aug 2021 10:09 AM PDT I recently disassembled a treadmill that had an Android tablet embedded in it. It is a MP14-ARGON tablet manufactured by Alps that likely has Android 6.0 or 7.0 installed on it. When I boot up the tablet by plugging it into a 12v power supply, the backlight comes on, but nothing appears. The tablet also has a USB OTG port which the treadmill's main computer was plugged into. My Windows computer recognizes it as J1002 with an MP3 player icon and I can see it under device manager and get various details on the hardware if that his helpful. Is there a way I can reset it so I can use it for other purposes? No obvious reset switch was visible on the circuit board, and no SD card or similar storage device was seen inside. Here is the manual I found about it: I was suggested posting on r/DIY to ask about rooting it, but since I can't interact with the screen on the device, I'm not sure if that's possible. Thanks! Good way to mirror screen android to PC with control? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 03:04 AM PDT I want stream screen from my phone xiaomi redmi note 9 pro to PC , and have ability to control it from pc. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Aug 2021 08:58 AM PDT Hi all, hoping for some help here. Long story short, Android 11 breaks some important things on my Pixel 3 device, so I reverted back to Android 10. When I went back to Android 10, I thought I also disabled auto-updates, but I guess not. Unfortunately my phone recently installed Android 11, which will apparently take effect after I reboot my phone. I really want to avoid this, because if this takes effect I'll have to flash back to Android 10 and will have to reset all my settings which will cause me a considerable amount of time and inconvenience. I know it might be too late, but my question is whether there's any way to reject this new update before I reboot my phone and the update takes effect. I tried searching for the answer myself but I haven't had any luck. Any thoughts or insight would be much appreciated. Thanks, all. [link] [comments] |

Galaxy S21 Ultra Android Auto Navigation only searches near my home Posted: 15 Aug 2021 08:07 AM PDT Pretty much what the title says. Whenever I use a voice command with Android auto to search for something it gives me results near my home. Doesn't matter where I am even if I'm hours away it only gives me results near my home. I don't understand this is it just Samsung screwing everything up? Any help would be appreciated thanks [link] [comments] |
Reddit notifications even though DND is on? Posted: 15 Aug 2021 07:10 AM PDT It's not set as an exception, at least not on the dnd settings page. I have elderly family members and don't have a landline so airplane mode is not an option. I got a reddit notification with sound at 1:30 am. Yes, I can turn the sound of at bedtime or set a routine to do that but I shouldn't have to. Ideas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 15 Aug 2021 02:26 AM PDT As the title states, I'm looking for a Verizon compatible phone. Ideally, this phone would not sacrifice anything. I would preferably want
I mostly use my phone for work (calls/text/email/scheduling), internet browsing, watching videos on the toilet etc. I don't game so performance isn't key and I know a lot of rugged phones use older components. I'm not necessarily looking for a flagship device just something that unctions well and won't break in the rain or from my clumsiness. I'm coming from an S10. I am aware of the Cat 48c on Verizon (and it's a potential candidate) but it seems it's only available to business customers. I would love to know of any budget options as well, even flip phones or "blackberry style" phones with physical keyboards. I have a 4G Surface Go that can take care of everything else if needed.
