choosing a DB for my app

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 01:07 AM PDT

I'm currently (re)building an app, that needs to save some data - goals scored, players in each team and a few other stuff - nothing too big.

I thought about using Room for storing my data during the match, and "uploading" it to the server after the match, using a JSON file and interpreting it on the server.

Is that a logical thing to do, or is there a DB that can save my data offline and sync with the server on a button click?

Other than that, I want to be able to pull players from the server before the match, and login, so the same question really - JSON and Room, or should I use a DB more suited for the job.

I think JSON and Room might work but wont make sense, so I'd love suggestions for a better option.

Also, thinking about security, I'm definitely an ameture currently, but the app is going to be used by a small league. Any tips on making sure I don't lose my entire DB some day to an attack?

Finding work as a free lance software developer

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 01:17 AM PDT

I am a self taught developer of 5+ years and I am interested in working on professional projects for pay. I have done a little research into Fiverr and Upwork and I wanted to know if these platforms and any others are worth the time and energy to sign up and begin soliciting clients. Would I have a better chance soliciting work on my own? What alternatives do I have to begin finding work as a self taught developer?

Can we create different activities for every screen in jetpack composed?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 05:39 AM PDT

I just recently migrate flutter to Android development using jetpack ( no XML). So like in flutter we build different classes for screen

But in jetpack composed it's replace with functions we have only one activities which is main activity and rest of the screen are just functions

"Daily buyers" in Google Play Console does not show anything but "Monthly buyers" does.

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 03:15 AM PDT

In Google Play Console when I open the statistics for one app and select "Monetization"-> "Daily buyers" -> "All buyers" it doesn't show any data. The same for "New buyers" and the "PST8DT" variant. It only shows a graph when I select "Monthly buyers". Why is that the case?

I have > 100 "Monthly buyers" so there should be enough data for "Daily buyers".

Should I learn App Dev with XML or Jetbrains Compose or Flutter?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 10:42 PM PDT

I want to learn App development. I was really confused whether I should learn Native app dev with Kotlin or should learn cross platform with Flutter.

Flutter works with Web and Desktop too so I thought it will a better choice.

But then after reading some articles on web, I learnt that Flutter apps aren't as good in performance as Native apps and there isn't many job opportunities as a Flutter app developer in bigger companies.

Recently I learnt about Jetbrains Compose which is a new way to create android apps in Kotlin using a declarative approach like Flutter and looks like it will also support Web and Desktop development in future. Compose apps will be developed in Kotlin so I think they will be as fast as Native apps.

So what should I learn, Native app dev with Kotlin and XML, Flutter or Jetbrains Compose??

Is fedora good enough for development ?

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 02:45 PM PDT

I'm a CS Student trying to learn more about Android development

I really don't know which one to use out of the two, just that I like Fedora's stock GNOME better than Ubuntu's version of GNOME.

Have some moderate experience of using linux from Ubuntu to arch with only window managers, but never settled on one distro

So wanted to get your views on it. Thanks in advance !!!

    Posted: 07 Aug 2021 09:24 AM PDT

I want to make just one app for the sake of summer project as a student.

To be specific, the app will be aimed for my college services purposes

Should I be bothered to learn kotlin or stick with java for building this app? I just want something that outcomes with efficiency, elegant, smooth and fast to make
