| How to find my phone on silent mode? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 08:42 AM PDT It's a Huawei P30 if that helps. I tried using "Google find my device" and it tracked down my phone so I know it's in my house, it gave me the option to ring my phone (even if it was on silent) but it wouldn't ring, it just said "connecting" for half an hour. | Posted: 11 Jul 2021 06:12 AM PDT Basically can't login to WiFi because it doesn't allow the voice keyboard to work. And the voice keyboard won't go away either. Also tried skipping it but they say "The way you restored factory settings may pose security risks. Please verify your identity with your Google account. Please connect to the internet first". Tried everything from factory resetting again to wiping cache partition to solve this. [link] [comments] |
Should i be able to print text (as opposed to images) from Android to a CUPS printer? By sharing? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 06:44 AM PDT It's about an ubuntu-connected and CUPS shared thermal printer, although i think the thermal part shouldn't really matter for my specific question here. I've been reading hella tutorials and info about this, but I'm still a bit confused as to what should really be possible in Android. So I'll explain what i've achieved so far: I can see my printer from my Android phone, and i have been able to get stuff on paper. So there is a communication. Right now for instance i printed a small image, and that was by sharing from the gallery, to a third party app called printbot. In a text editor that has print in the menu, i can print some text. The print system thinks the thermal printer is letter/A4 size to it comes out as a text for ants, but the communication is there. However. If i just share any text, by selecting and choosing share, i can never get a "print" option. I get all the other apps but nothing related to printing. Not even printbot appears. The goal would be to be able to print notes from google keep. But if i need to screenshot them, it's not so hot. There is no basic functionality in Android to take any text-type data and print it via sharing? Is there anything i can install? Or do i need to set up some sort of internal web service at home for this? Huawei P10, and am using "default print services" in the settings. Used to have specific CUPS things installed but if i understand correctly, with an Android 9 phone that shouldn't be necessary. [link] [comments]
| How to block "reaction" text in group chats on Android? Posted: 10 Jul 2021 07:38 PM PDT As has been discussed here and elsewhere, iPhone users who "like" or "emphasize" text messages in group chats inadvertently send a text to the Android participants specifying "Liked 'the message text'". This stinks, and it's annoying. I found one solution involving a 3rd party "Tasker" solution to filter text messages based on their content, but I'm wondering if there's a simpler solution to block these incoming messages? I want to participate in the group chat, but I don't really care if someone likes an image that someone else posted (or really anything that's not words from a person). Any solutions? | Abysmal speech recognition in GBoard, good speech recognition in Swift Posted: 11 Jul 2021 08:06 AM PDT I've been using speech input a lot for a while to take short notes when hiking. For a long time I was using Gboard but the speech recognition is so awful that it is close to useless. I tried Swiftkey for a totally different reason, but noticed that the speech recognition works well, leagues above the one in Gboard. From what I can see Swiftkey is also just using Google speech input. Both keyboards are set to the same language. I don't see any way to "recalibrate" or train the speech recognition. So does anyone know why the quality of the results are so vastly different? [link] [comments] |
Storage usage discrepancies and hidden files Posted: 11 Jul 2021 11:42 AM PDT I guess better start with specs. Oukitel K6000 Plus Android 7.0 (yes, I know, I didn't want to stay on 7.0) Now what I wanted. I've feeling the phone is reeeaally slow and apps crashing every now and then and figured I should factory reset and/or flash a newer version of Android since Oukitel won't give any updates. Obviously I wanted to backup everything, like, everything, just in case. Problem began when I realised I can't confirm I'm actually backing up everything because phone says 23.34GB in use, connect the device to my PC and says 33.9GB in use. Okay, this might be normal since maybe Android excludes the OS and Windows doesn't but, when I copy all the files in the phone it adds up to 13GB, both on the copied folder on my PC and looking at properties of the files on the phone. I have no idea what's missing and how to access it, all I can find on internet is people having problems with windows not detecting the phone. Tried enabling developer tools and USB debugging but nothing, thought about root but everything I can find about rooting this model gives links with 404 error and I don't want to install a random "root" app. TLDR: Want to backup my phone, Windows isn't showing all files and can't find a way around it. Might aswell ask for help with a way to have a newer version of Android in this model. [link] [comments]
Do some apps not appear in the /data/ directory? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 11:24 AM PDT I'm looking into doing some reverse engineering research on an Android app, however, upon connecting my android phone to my computer and going to the directory: I haven't been able to find any file or directory related to this particular android application. I've also checked the I was under the impression that when downloading an app from the play store, a file is created in one of these directories. Am I missing something or could it be somewhere else that I am not looking at? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Specifics: Operating System: Windows 10 Android Device: Samsung Galaxy S8+ App: "Kinsa for Wireless Smart Thermometers" [link] [comments]
| Help! concern about stolen phone Posted: 11 Jul 2021 11:07 AM PDT So my friends phone( Realme 6 os- maybe android 10) has been recently stolen with the sim card inside, she suspects some of her malicious friends with ill intent to hack it. The phone contained some of her explicit photos and videos and we are concerned if somebody can hack into it and get to that content and how easy would that be to do? And can we disable it remotely somehow from here? The content is in the app signal and its chats which is locked by a pin code. The phone is also locked by a 4 digit pin and finger print. | Android 10 - Internal Screen recording file size Posted: 11 Jul 2021 06:09 AM PDT Hi, I need to use the internal screen recording, but I noticed that a 5 minutes video weights more than 500 MB. Is it possible to change some registration settings to make the final video be a little lighter? [link] [comments] |
Can you undo clear data on an app? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 09:05 AM PDT I accidently clicked clear data in the app settings of my browser. Now all my bookmarks & history is gone. Longshot but is there a way to undo this? [link] [comments]
Is there any way to limit storage allotted to a particular app? Posted: 10 Jul 2021 08:33 PM PDT Because I cant clear this "user data" which is obviously picture and video cache in facebook app without clearing entire app data which will require me to login again. I read that facebook saves storage specifically for this and the only way to remove is to clear all data. The same problem with reddit , I can't clear the user data without clearing entire data. So is there any way to limit the storage we allow apps to use in the first place? [link] [comments]
Send alarm to google speaker in another room in real time? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 08:43 AM PDT We are in the midst of newborn feedings and need a way to wake each other up at all hours of the night and phone calls aren't strong enough 😀. Is there a way to send an alarm with the touch of a button to a google speaker from person A's phone to the speaker in person B's room? I was thinking tasker may be able to do it, but I haven't been able to figure it out. Feeding times fluctuate, so I can't do it ahead of time. Even opening the home app and casting music to the speaker may be tough for the 4 am feedings, so I was hoping to make a widget or something. [link] [comments]
Ow to make Pull down menu non accessivle Posted: 11 Jul 2021 06:10 AM PDT I always accidentally pull down at the top and this little menu pad to quickly turn on off air plane mode, screen rotation lock etc shows up . Is there a way to stop this or at least edit which settings are in there? [link] [comments]
receiving videos as a picture and an audio clip?? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 06:07 AM PDT i just got my samsung galaxy s10 on amazon (from the amazon renewed store) on thursday, july 8th. its been working 100% as it should be but for some reason i noticed that whenever someone tries to send me a video, i just receive a picture of the thumbnail of that video and an audio clip attached under it with the audio from the video. my dad (android user) sent me a video and i straight up didnt get it. my brothers (apple users) sent me videos and i received them like how i just described. does anybody know why this is or what i can do to fix it? do i need to return this phone and get a new one? cause i really hope thats not the case. it happens on both the stock messaging app AND google messages. not sure what to do. edit: okay so im not sure what changed but my family members with androids can send me videos. but for some reason videos still send as a picture and an audio clip from the apple users. what is this?? how do i get around that lol [link] [comments]

Posted: 11 Jul 2021 04:23 AM PDT Hi, I have some problems. My problem is that my phone gets slow laggy and also gets hot very quick. I mean it has problems with performance. I am very upset with the performance of that phone. But maybe it is for android or UI 3.1. Because I rooted my Samsung galaxy a 50(Sm-505f) in the summer of 2020. And I stayed with root till June of 2021. I felt that I need android 11. That is why I unrooted it, but then I can't update it with Samsung itself. That is why I thought that I can update it manually and then root it. I made it like that but I ran for the problem. The problem was that after flashing magisk and android 11 with Odin the phone rebooted automatically but the problem appeared. When the phone rebooted bootloader doesn't let me go to the Samsung logo(normally when the boodloader is open you need to hold the power button to go to the logo but when I hold the power button second bootloader error appeared and it started boot loop) after some boot loops recovery mode screen appeared and there was an error and after that there was factory data reset that I touched and then it worked and started my phone on android 11. But now I can't enter recovery mode.it vibrates when I want to get to the recovery mode. And I also can't update my phone after unrooting. Pls help me [link] [comments]
Posted: 11 Jul 2021 01:49 AM PDT What exactly is it about Android in terms of features that makes it so much better than iOS? I know everyone says customisation but is it really something that matters that much to everyone? I've been using Android phones my whole life with the OnePlus 5 being my most recent, and I thought why not try an iPhone this time and see if it's actually so bad that people make it out to be. So I bought an iPhone 12 and it turns out that I still use the same apps and do exactly the same tasks as on my android phones. Some features work better on android and some work better on iPhone. Personally I really like how every app on iOS looks and feels somewhat the same and I really enjoy the benefits of the infamous ecosystem tbh. So what I'm asking is if there's anything particular you think is a deal-breaker when it comes to choosing android over iOS because personally I didn't find any [link] [comments]
Avoiding burn-in on Android (specifically, S20 FE)? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 01:23 AM PDT Hi guys, I upgraded from my S8 to a S20 FE. My S8 was already at a point where there is burn-in the top (status bar), bottom (navigation bar), and middle (whatsapp keyboard tray). I know that in order to avoid burn-in it is best to use low brightness and keep the screen circulating (i.e. not stay in one window for a long time), but sometimes I use applications that keep stationary images for extended times - such as long Whatsapp conversations, Waze navigation, Playing Pokemon GO etc. In all of those examples the navigation and status bars remain constant. Does anyone have tips on how to avoid this issue? I'd rather take steps now rather than replace the screen in a year or two. Much appreciated! Thanks! [link] [comments]

can external display be connected with Android Phones now ? Posted: 11 Jul 2021 12:14 AM PDT Has Hardware+software finally evolved to run external display (HDMI or displayport now) with an android phone ? As far as specs are considered the old leader SD 820 from 2016) list 4K screen support. https://www.qualcomm.com/products/snapdragon-820-mobile-platform (Max External Display: 4K Ultra HD) But do we really are able to use old android phone in any tweaked way to connect to external display ? I have a 2016 phone which I would rather use in some way instead of it going to a landfill. Thoughts ? Ideas ? Also do current phones support external display ? - the SOC do mention but is the SW / Manufacturer really enabling it ? [link] [comments]
Right earbud not working only on my Samsung device Posted: 11 Jul 2021 12:05 AM PDT Hello everyone. I have a Samsung Galaxy M21 and a pair of Realme Buds Q Truly Wireless Earphones (TWE). Couple of weeks ago, those recently bought TWE started having a few issues, including the issue where the output of the right earbud had become very less, eventually becoming zero. I got them changed in the Realme customer care centre (under warranty) but still the aforementioned problem persisted. When they are connected to any other device, they work fine (i.e. sound is coming from both buds.) Only for my device there seems to be a problem. I even tested it on another Samsung device. What should I do? Should I factory reset my device or go to the Samsung customer care centre? [link] [comments]
