| Car charger will not charge phone if battery is completely flat? Posted: 13 Jul 2021 10:05 AM PDT Has anyone encountered this before? I have an S20 Ultra, my phone died the other day so on the way home from work plugged it in to the 12v charger, the charger itself puts out 5v at 1A, when I plugged it in, it brought up the splash screen with the circle and a lightning bolt in the middle, but that's it. When the phone charges normally, that screen pops up followed by another screen which is a percentage to show you the charge level of the phone. But the car charger couldn't make it to that screen. If the phone has power, it will charge in the car. Which is the weird part.. Ideas? Thanks guys. [link] [comments] |

I have a LG K51 (LM K500) It has never given me any trouble, I've had it just over a year, and I'm pretty gentle with my phones. It turned off in the middle of use last night and won't turn on. When plugged in, the phone gives a white notification LED, and when I hold down the power button while it's plugged in, the light will blink about 10 seconds in as if it were being restarted. There have been no vibrations or any other sign of life. I have tried various button combinations: Down Vol + Power Up + Down Vol Down + Google + Power Up + Google + Power Plugged in, unplugged. I cannot take out the battery, and (I feel so stupid for this) there was no SD card in the phone for pictures. I would discount this as hopelessly bricked, but I found this page: https://blog.hovatek.com/my-experience-reviving-a-bricked-dead-boot-lg-k51-lm-k500/ and they seemed to be able to recover the phone, though maybe not the data. If anyone with more know-how about this could tell me if I could follow those instructions and recover the phone data, or if it's blanked by the time he gets it up, I'd appreciate it. Are there any other suggestions? I'm all ears. Thank you for your time. EDIT: Someone on r/techsupport suggested that it could be a dead battery, is that likely? I can replace the battery without too much trouble with a spare from amazon. They said they believed it was the battery because the light came on when plugged in and there was otherwise no response. | Is there Malware/Spyware that could survive a factory reset? Posted: 12 Jul 2021 07:04 PM PDT So, I am fairly certain my phone (galaxy S10+) was compromised. I was the victim of an extortion scam (details in another post on my profile, nsfw), and last night right around the time I received a follow up message from the perps, I noticed a brief red flash on my phone's screen, which google tells me is indicative of something being run in developer mode and I was certainly not doing that myself. The next morning I noticed suspicious pages open in my chrome browser. That was enough for me and I factory reset my phone. I did not restore to the backup, as the backup was after I was attacked. I assumed this would do the trick by going scorched earth, but now every little hiccup has me paranoid that I'm still infected. Added an account, whoops app closed. Made a call, whoops closed. All would normally be easily chalked up to Android being Android but well, forgive me for being paranoid right now. I've not set up any actual accounts yet to be cautious. | Question About Stock Contacts App - Show Full Address Posted: 13 Jul 2021 08:32 AM PDT Trying to help my mom adjust to android 11 after (Finally!) replacing her Galaxy S4. That phone had Touchwiz UI and her each contact in her phone showed complete information, including the full address with zip code when viewing the contact. Her new OnePluss Nord N200 has the Google Contacts app 4.0.0.x and truncates the full address down to just the street only, leaving the city and zip not displayed. I've dug around looking for a way to change that behavior with no luck. Is there a way to change the default view to show the complete address by default? [link] [comments] |
| Bug on Galaxy note 20 ultra 5g? Posted: 13 Jul 2021 08:23 AM PDT So my fiancée and I both have the same phones, when we play games hers will... reset? Rewind? So she can start an activity that takes 12 hours and then get a notification 12 hours later saying it's done but when she opens her phone all that she did is gone.. juat like she didn't do anything. Has happened a few times ona few games. Be it trying to plant a field for farming then have it be empty 20 minutes later or placing a dragon to hatch and then it being in her inventory again instead... its.. weird. The Volume buttons only control the Ringtone volume when pressed, but I would like it to be so both Notification and Ringtone are both adjusted simultaneously when those buttons are pressed, so they can be equal How can I go about doing this? I kept trying to google it but the only thing I found was posts about how to separate the two, which is the opposite of what I want. | Does blocking an app's notifications from your separate Android settings still consume battery? Posted: 13 Jul 2021 07:54 AM PDT (Android 11)I understand that in order for my phone to receive any Web-based notification from an app it of course uses power to request the necessary information from whichever server. However, from the Android settings outside of whatever given app, you of course have options to disable said notifications. So I'm asking if the Android settings portion of notifications control actually prevents my cell radio from using energy to even request the information used to push one (notification), OR if the blocking lets my cell radio consume energy to continue retrieving them and they aren't visible anymore. So, basically I was wondering if there are any roms that already give or would provide android 12 in the near future for OnePlus 6 without waiting a whole year or more for it. | Battery usage data not available Posted: 13 Jul 2021 07:20 AM PDT I went to check my battery usage in the optimizer app of my phone. There was a period of time which said "battery usage data not available" at 5am-6am. The hours before and after displayed data usage like it normally does. I wiped cache partition, and cleared cache and data on the app and the missing data still didn't appear. (Make zip from magisk apk, move it to sdcard, go to recovery mode and install it.) But in the recovery mode when installing i got an error, says magisk.zip can't be installed.
