Why do companies like Vivo, Oppo, even make their own UIs? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 11:27 AM PDT I never understood the actual reason behind it. Why do they spend time and resources into rewriting the same thing that has already been designed, that too when the end result is worse than the original AOSP one. Vivo and Oppo phones UI is just a cheap, knock off of iOS UI, which is also arguably worse in terms of UI than the original android UI Itself. Samsung's OneUI is still somewhat original and does not look like a cheaply made garbage ios clone. However, some companies like Samsung still make a good alternative to the default android UI. But still why do they do it? From a profit perspective, it just costs them more money and resources when in the end they are just redoing what has already been done, in a worse way (Except few ones like samsung). Why cant they just ship in stock android without their skin? It would cost them lesser money and wouldnt it increase their net profit? by not having to manage a team that just does the same thing again, in a worse way. I remember using my grandma's vivo phone, and i was so disgusted by it. It was so badly designed, that just clicking anywhere on the screen would give you a 'button click' sound like on android. the UI itself is very clunky and slow, and is just a rip-off of iOS. note: i am not talking about the bloat that some manufacturers ship with their phones. you can still ship bloat features an app, WHILE adhering to the stock android UI [link] [comments] |

Broke my phone, need help with data restoration Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:36 AM PDT I recently had my Xiaomi (Redmi) K20 pro's screen replaced, and took a backup of everything as a .bak file before i reset it. Now, my phone's display broke again (awful, I know. I need a display made of steel perhaps - or Gorilla Glass at the very least-) with no way to enable file transfer. I still have the .bak files and i want to know how to restore data from it (contacts etc) to a new Android phone. Also - is there any way I can open the phone to enable file sharing? The display is completely damaged. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:25 AM PDT I dropped my phone last night and it sat in the rain for a little while, it still turns on and most everything seems to work. But my accelerometer seems to be busted. Ive tried several accelerometer calibrating apps and even a few just to test if it registers anything and ive got nothing. Is there anything i can do to potentially fix this or am i screwed and need to get a new phone? Ive got an lg k30 if that helps at all [link] [comments] |
Noticing some activities on my android. Need some advice. Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:14 AM PDT I was looking at my activity in Google and found out there were some activities like "Used Com.android.mms" and "Used Picsart" or "used canva" when I had not used these apps and there were no further details of activities just opened. Is it normal or should I be worried about it? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:09 AM PDT I have a Pixel 5, less than a year old, that was working flawlessly up until a day or two ago. All of a sudden of keyboard started freezing. I type, the keyboard would freeze, and I can keep typing and a few seconds later everything I typed will show up. This keeps happening constantly, and is becoming very annoying for me. I tried restarting, I tried closing everything, I tried checking my storage, I still have over 50% free, I tried reverting to the default Gboard theme. If you have any suggestions for what I need to do to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. [link] [comments] |
How to Remove Apps from Direct Share on Samsung Galaxy S9? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 07:49 AM PDT So I don't want Reddit or Discord appearing up whenever I click Share on something. I already disabled Direct Share in the Settings so at least the Contacts don't show up but the actuap Apps still do. I also Installed the App "Sharedr" but I think its only going to be a Temporary Fix because it says "Sharedr will stop working on Android 12'. Anyways, is there a way to remove/hide them from Direct Share? Or a way to completely hide the Apps from the system? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Jul 2021 07:29 AM PDT Hey guys need some quick help, I got an s10 plus and an hour ago I was using it perfectly fine, all of a sudden I lock the phone with low brightness and a green flicker happens on the bottom side (EXTREMELY BRIGHT) for a split second, and it remains if I have my phone on low brightness, if it's higher brightness or on always on display or a bit higher brightness, it vanishes and phone is perfectly fine, the issue also fixes if phone is locked, restarting the phone makes it still flicker on the bottom side brightly until a higher brightness is shown, any fix? I didn't drop the phone or anything, I was using it and it was perfect, It was charging and I left it on charge and picked it up, used it and then finally locking it later, that occured. I can't find "recently deleted files" to delete them from my system Posted: 25 Jul 2021 06:21 AM PDT Hello, I have a problem with my Android system (Huawei P smart 2019). I found many files without a file ending in my Downloads folder, decided to get rid of them, as my internal free space is under 0.5% and uploaded them to my MEGA account. Then I deleted them, but it had been sent to the "recently deleted files". When I look at the overview of the internal and external drive and go to the recently deleted files section, I can't access any file, it is empty. They haven't been deleted or sent to this folder, not even in the "recently deleted pictures". Where can I find those files and delete them from my system? [link] [comments] |

How do I get rid of broken, invisible files that take up lots of space? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 06:08 AM PDT I tried downloading a pretty big mp4 file, but that failed because i didn't have enough space. However, it filled up all my leftover storage. I tried getting rid of it but it doesn't show up in the file explorer. Under device care -> storage, it filled up the "other" category. I'm kinda desperate because i need the storage space to work. How do i clear it up? Samsung galaxy Tab S4, Amdroid 10 [link] [comments] |

no space error on android tablet Posted: 25 Jul 2021 05:19 AM PDT hi so i have a galaxy tab 10.1 and never had any issues i had to do a factory reset yesterday and now trying to download apps , i have over 10gb of free space but if i try to download anything it says i need to free up space. i have tried restarting, clearing caches and nothing works, the only slight workaround iv found is if i uninstall the google play update for the store and it reverts back to the factory installed version i can download apps but obviously i can then only download old apps and nothing new, been at it for a couple hours now and cant get my head round it, any ideas. Posted: 25 Jul 2021 01:30 AM PDT I recently purchased a used Samsung A7and the phone has been reset but upon turning it on, the phone prompts me with a message saying that I need to verify my account, specifically an account that was previously used on this A7 phone. This poses a problem for me though, seeing as how I have no previous account on the device. I was curious as to whether or not there was a way for me to bypass this problematic security feature so that I can make use of the device I purchased. Any advice regarding this issue would be greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance to any persons that might be of assistance in this matter. [link] [comments] |

Is it worth taking my phone in? Phone vibrated randomly in the night. Posted: 25 Jul 2021 04:47 AM PDT So basically what happened, I checked my phone in the middle of the night, everything was working ok. Then I wake up to a loud vibration, and I couldn't tell it was my phone for a bit until 3 minutes go by and I pick up my phone. It didn't seem to be actually on either. When I pressed the power button, it stopped. Left it aside, then I tried turning it on a few minutes later and it turned out but vibrated again(though like 15 seconds). I turned my phone off for the night, I woke up in the morning and it's not turning on at all. I do have warranty, but I'm not sure this problem can be fixed by them, and I want answers as soon as possible. It's a galaxy AO1. [link] [comments] |
Bought a dual USB stick - not working on phone, suggestions? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 04:24 AM PDT New USB stick won't mount or show in anyway with phone. I checked and my phone supports OTG which I think direct stick connection still counts as? I have tried various file manager apps and none see the stick (nor can the stick be seen in the storage section of settings). Tried various formats on the stick, currently there's a 32GB Fat32 partition and nothing else on it. Also confirmed with a computer that the USB C port is working. Am I missing something or have we not mastered the technology to connect sticks to phones yet? [link] [comments] |
Google assistant keeps activating seemingly randomly (S20+) Posted: 25 Jul 2021 12:16 AM PDT I have a s20+ and my Google assistant seems to randomly activate a few times a day. Usually it's when I'm watching a video with the speakers or if I'm talking but never has the keyword (hey Google) been spoken. I would really like for this to stop as when the assistant menu is brought up, everything stops (videos, map directions, music, etc) Anyone got any ideas? I don't want to disable it as I use the feature while driving but it's becoming very intrusive through my day to day. [link] [comments] |
