| Posted: 15 Jun 2021 02:29 AM PDT I recently found out my phone was rooted when I was trying to log into a financial services app. I checked my phone and it was rooted through the Magisk app. I opened up the app and chose the "completely uninstall" option. Since then, my phone has been stuck on the S8+ plus logo. I'm not able to access safe mode so I have no idea what to do. Is there a solution to this problem or am I out of luck? [link] [comments] |

| Any way to display wiFi network on home screen? Posted: 15 Jun 2021 01:04 PM PDT Unlocked Pixel 3 on Xfinity. Is there a way to display on my home screen what WiFi I'm on if I have more than one network? I'm testing Starlink but of course if it drops my phone connects automatically to the other network or data. Just looking for something simpler than going to WiFi and long pressing it to look at what network I'm on. I realize I'm kind of lazy, and that this isn't really any kind of actual problem. I love Textra's high-level functionality, but a lack of native desktop/cross-platform integration led me to explore Google Messages and Pulse SMS. I have been using Pulse for a while now, because it seems to work better than Messages, but with both platforms, I'm driven absolutely nuts by the lack of ability to just type a group name in order to text the group. Why do Pulse and Google give us the option to name conversations when the biggest function thereof is completely absent? Is there a way to accomplish this? I have seen that Pulse lists contact label groups in the "groups" tab when composing a new message, but it also lists EVERY group conversation there, numbers and all, not just named conversations, and this functionality isn't present on desktop. If I could jump back to Textra without having to resort to shabbily cobbling it together with Pushbullet, Join, etc, I'd do so in a heartbeat. [link] [comments] |

I tried installing an old LineageOS build with GApps, but due to some issues I restored the stock firmware with Android 10. I still hate the Samsung bloat, and I want to use a lighter ROM for my phone. I would prefer that it runs Android 11, I want SELinux to be enforcing and for security to be relatively current, although I would prefer MicroG, I am fine with installing some minimal GApps since I mostly use only maps from GApps and Drive very rarely and I found that Aurora Store is just fine for app installation. Also, if I have to install an unofficial ROM, can someone explain to me how to upgrade unofficial ROM versions without deleting all my data, or will I have to do a backup? [link] [comments] |

| Problem with notifications from Sleep as Android Posted: 15 Jun 2021 10:17 AM PDT I have set daily morning alarms in Sleep as Android, but the problem is that if there are other notifications on the lock screen from other apps, when the alarm activates it doesn't show the full screen alarm window, and i have to clear the other notifications to make it appear in full screen and be able to tab on the Disable button to stop the alarm. Posted: 15 Jun 2021 10:17 AM PDT I just got an S21 and it's driving me crazy that I can't change the vibrate pattern for different apps. All I really care about is that I want text messages to vibrate different than everything else. I changed the pattern for a specific contact, but apparently that only works for a phone call, not when they text you. Everything I can find about third-party apps is all outdated and the apps either don't exist any more or haven't been updated for newer phones. | Posted: 15 Jun 2021 06:19 AM PDT Hi everyone, I have a Motorola G Power (2020) that just received the OTA update. After updating my phone, it now takes 10-15 seconds for the screen to come back on after the phone is locked. I've tried everything, including running in safe mode and also a full factory reset. Unfortunately, nothing has worked. I even tried turning off battery optimization for all of the Moto apps. Thus far, the only thing that seems to have made any difference at all is clearing all the app data for all of the Moto apps. The phone will work as expected briefly but then go right back to the 10-15 second wake time again. Any help would be most appreciated. I tried working with Motorola but of course they weren't any help at all. Once you get past factory reset they can't help you. [link] [comments] |

| Galaxy S10+ unable to connect to mobile network after Trojan virus detected Posted: 15 Jun 2021 09:25 AM PDT Last night my husband's Galaxy S10+ was unable to connect to the mobile network (AT&T). He gets a message when he tries to make a call that says "Your phone's not registered on a network, so you can only make emergency calls". I am pretty tech savvy, but I didn't get a chance to look at it last night, and I had to work today. He tried restarting his phone, putting it in airplane mode, clearing the cache and resetting the network settings. Well, he called me (thank you, wifi calling) to tell me that when he was at his buddy's house last night that his phone randomly started freaking out, it put itself into "do not disturb" mode, and he saw a random app download, but he couldn't find the app when he looked for it. I asked him why he didn't mention that earlier and he said he didn't think about it. I told him to download and run Malwarebytes immediately, which found a Trojan virus. Now, the virus has been quarantined, but he still cannot connect to the AT&T mobile network. I am going to try a couple things when I get home, including starting it in safe mode and reinstalling his SIM card, but I wanted to ask some random strangers on the internet for advice on this. Posted: 15 Jun 2021 09:02 AM PDT I've had my Android phone(and assigned number) for a little over two years now, but I'm having a terrible issue with the previous owner still using this number to apply for auto loans, student loans, credit cards, utilities and health care. Last week I started getting calls from a debt collector in regards to an unpaid medical bill from a little over 3 months ago, so the previous owner is still using this number on forms and applications they are completing. The student loan calls and debt collector calls have increased to the point of frustration, and I wanted to reach out to see if I have any recourse in stopping this person from falsely using a number they no longer own. And even more frustrating is the list seems to be in random order(not alphabetic or anything obviously logical) that also changes randomly, so even remembering the last known position is pointless. | [ROOT] Help for Motorola G8 Power Posted: 15 Jun 2021 02:26 AM PDT Hi, I'm currently interested in the question, if I can root my device without any PC or an app, because I momentarily don't own an PC, apps are mostly not able to root the device and interrupt in the middle of the process. So shortly said, I have an Lenovo Tab M10 FHD+ and want to connect it to my Motorola, to enable root permissions on the Motorola phone with the app linked down below. The only problem is, that I already connected it via OTG, but commands like reboot work, I was actually surprised, but as soon as I start going into fastboot mode, the device detects the phone, but not the app and no data transfer between the devices is being enabled.
