    • must make an effort to respond to questions and feedback from commenters
    • app may be open or closed source

    Commenters:

    • must give constructive feedback in replies to top level comments
    • must not include links to other apps

To cut down on spam, accounts who are too young or do not have enough karma to post will be removed. Please make an effort to contribute to the community before asking for feedback.

As always, the mod team is only a small group of people, and we rely on the readers to help us maintain this subreddit. Please report any rule breakers. Thank you.

    Dashboard UI approach

    Posted: 12 Jun 2021 07:18 AM PDT

I am creating a dashboard UI which consists of different cards.

    • Each cards represent a feature
    • Each cards have different heights
    • Some cards display UI controls like switches, sliders etc.
    • Some cards transform to full screen UI on taping them

Based on these requirements, I can think of 2 approach to design and implement it.

    1. Implement everything in the same DashboardFragment.
    2. Implement each features as separate fragments and dynamically add them to the DashboardFragment.

The first approach might make the fragment cumbersome as all I will have to handle all the UI listeners. The second approach will mean I will have child fragments inside the fragment. But given the recent changes to Fragment, I think this should not be an issue. I am leaning towards the second approach.

What are the possible issues with the second approach ? Or is there any other better approach ?

    Observable loading view?

How do you implement a loading view whenever any background job is in progress? How you handle it? I find it a pain to not making it automatically.
