| Use old Android Phone as USB Monitor? Posted: 16 May 2021 01:50 AM PDT I currently have a Huawai P10 lite that starts to show it's age so I am thinking of buying a new phone. However, I would like to repurpose my old phone if i buy a new one. I would really like to use it as a small secondary screen on my gaming PC for things like hardware stats, Discord etc. I know there are already some solutions out there, but afaik they are based on some apps that have to be started on the phone first. I am looking to a solution to plug the phone into my computer and have it instantly recognized as a secondary display by windows. Is micro-USB able to deliver an image? I know type C is but I am not quite sure about the old Micro. On the software side, I would be totally fine to install some custom firmware as this is something i do not know much about yet but I am interested in anyway. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 May 2021 10:50 AM PDT Use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firstrowria.pushnotificationtester Set it to send you a normal priority push message, in, for example, 300 seconds, and then lock your phone (turn the screen off, I guess). Don't use the phone at all in those 300 seconds (5 minutes). Let it stay down. If you don't receive that message roughly on time OR don't receive it until you unlock the phone, you have a problem. Posted: 16 May 2021 09:50 AM PDT I recently got hacked and scam through a crypto exchange whereby the scammer identify himself to help stake Vechain token in VeChairThor wallet. Then he gave me a link to press which the website was very similar to the official Vechain website but with a slight twist at the end url which ends with .net instead of .org (which is the official website). Then when i transfered Vet token to the wallet, he can access the wallet (dont know how) then transfer out the vet coin to his/her wallet. i want to know if he/she can he continue to monitor other activities on the android phone because previously i click the link or its a 1 time? | No notifications coming through! Posted: 16 May 2021 12:16 PM PDT I have a very weird situation -- literally no notifications are coming through except for persistent notifications. They show up when looking at NotiStar and the "Recently Sent" in the notifications menu shows the apps, but no popup or anything else on the notification bar is showing. DND is not enabled, Data saver is off, there are no sleeping apps, and I just reset my settings to factory but nothing is helping. Interestingly enough, I'm getting the "some app notifications are set to be silent" but when I go into the specific app settings, they are all enabled. This is driving me crazy and I'd rather not factory reset my device... [link] [comments] |

| My phone's RAM slows down. What are the solutions? Posted: 16 May 2021 10:18 AM PDT My phone has 128 internal storage and more than 80 is used. I don't know if that's the reason for the slow down or not. Is it normal to have 80 used put of 128? When I open the recent apps and go back to an app that I have already opened the app loads again. | Posted: 16 May 2021 09:27 AM PDT My wife and I are pretty busy. We both work very different jobs and tend to make plans for the both of us separately. We both have android phones, her a Galaxy s21 ultra, me an LG v60 Thinq. Her phone has the Samsung calender, while mine has the Google calender by default. That makes it so her Google account has to be signed in to my phone for us both to see the full calender we use. If not, I can't see anything she adds to the calender, and vice versa. Now that her Google account is signed into my phone, it complicates alot of apps, especially photos. My starve has gone down the drain because Google backs everything up and it has out it on my phone from her account. It also makes it so we see each other's emails, and she sometimes clears my inbox my mistake, so I won't see important emails for over a week because they are either already on read, or in the trash because she thought it was spam. Does anyone know any calender apps that don't require her Google account to be logged into mine, or how to really separate the 2 accounts, so her account doesn't affect my phone? [link] [comments] |
| Trusted places just stopped working on two different phones at the same time. Posted: 16 May 2021 08:36 AM PDT I have a Samsung J2 and a Samsung J7. Tonight both phones stopped being able to use trusted places at the same time. None of the online fixes or work arounds have changed the result. My best guess is its related to something that's updated on both phones in the last 24 hours. I had auto updates disabled so even more baffling. In google maps, I notice you can't save a location with raw gps coordinates anymore. If you use the map to select a location with the pin (instead of type the address) , It takes the location you pick and approximates the nearest address, instead of just listing the gps coordinates like it used to In lock settings, If you try to add a new trusted place that is too close to the old one then it approximates the same address and tells you this location is already trusted. Is everyone else having the same issue or is it just a Samsung or regional Android issue? The fact it happened to two of my phones at the same time makes me think it's not phone specific. Now when I have a unread Gmail notification in my bar, my phone vibrates every minute or so while I'm on it. Then last night I plugged my phone in to charge and my phone is vibrating every few seconds! If I unplug it, vibrating stops. But as long as it is charging, it vibrates constantly. It is the System UI that's causing those. How can I get that to stop? I've turned off vibrating while charging, tried a different cable and nothing stops it. [link] [comments] |

| What made you decided to stick with Android permanently Posted: 16 May 2021 12:48 AM PDT Hi all So currently i am looking at sticking with one ecosystem, either iOS or Android. Now my struggle is that I like to switch things up, hardware and software, I think there has only ever been 2 pieces I've stuck with long term, Windows and 1Password. Now my family/friends use a mixture of iMessage, WhatsApp and telegram, some use iOS some use Android, so iMessage and FaceTime doesn't lock me in thankfully. But I'm wondering people who have been or are in a similar position what did you do, what's your thought process so on, maintaining two devices is A: expensive and B: annoying and ideally I am looking for stability. Also I use google services a lot on my iPhone, google drive, photos and so on for my personal accounts (my custom email is in another provider which is also cross platform). With as few annoying extra steps as possible. I know I can use Bluetooth but for some reason it's really slow like 0,5 MByte per second. Is it worth it to wait for the upgrade? How big of a difference is there between the phones? Main points of interest would be perfomance (snapdragon 888 vs 865), battery (4500mAh vs 4000 mAh) and camera. Is the processor upgrade worth it in terms of performance and batterylife? However, it drives me crazy that I can't hide sublabels. I use the for organizing things, but they also turn the UI into a cluttered, unusable mess, leaving me to organize dealt with emails later, on my PC. So: I'd love a new email app which basically does what Gmail does, but where sublabels can be hidden. (Or an app that to emulate Gmail: I use the Forums and Updates tabs in Gmail) Do you have any good recommendations? [link] [comments] |
