| Motorola phone won't boot. Flashing front-facing LED. Posted: 04 May 2021 08:18 AM PDT I have a Moto Z2 Play that's been in my desk for a while, and I had some tinkering I wanted to do. It's been on Android 7.1.1, so I updated some apps, let it do its thing. I got prompted to update Magisk, so I updated the APK and then the ZIP. I allowed the phone to reboot, and and then noticed that it had not rebooted after a few minutes. Instead, the front-facing LED was just blinking every so often. Googling led me to posts that suggest the battery is low, however the battery was fine and fully charged just now. I booted into TWRP (I still have stock recovery, but I just did a quick fastboot boot twrp.img), and confirmed that battery is north of 80%. I followed these instructions on uninstalling Magisk, however TWRP gets stuck on the last step "Updating partition details..." I had to hard reboot and go back into TWRP. The uninstall.zip is gone, and the phone won't boot. I would be happy to flash an update of a newer OS. Or just get the phone booting again. Any help is greatly appreciated! [link] [comments] |
| Can't mute Facebook like sound Posted: 04 May 2021 10:44 AM PDT Title says all. The sound it makes when I like/react to a post is really disturbing. I had to reinstall the app ane cannot find how to mute it. The setting should be in media and contacts but it is not there. Facebook help is useless. I remember I had the same problem when I first installed it on my phone a couple years ago and the solution was that the in app sounds are controlled by the system or whatever. So I had to find some notification setting and set it to gentle notification I think. But there is no such setting now. Help me please. I'm using a Huawei Mate 20 pro on Android 10 and EMUI 11 If that helps. [link] [comments] |

| Precautions to take when moving code to another build machine Posted: 04 May 2021 11:55 AM PDT I need to move my android development process from the current hardware to a newer hardware machine. Both machines are Ubuntu based systems. I do have an app deployed on the Play Store with some amount of a user base . Wanted to know what all I need to migrate from old machine to new machine so that the upload to the play store does not get affected due to incorrect certificates and keystore and neither do users who will be updating the app. I have moved the following to the new machine and able to do a successful release build but am not able to update a physical device having a previous version of the app.
I did a certificate comparison and both are the same
Do I need to regenerate the keystore and alias from the new machine and update it on Google Play Store? [link] [comments] |
| Best S8+ Trade In Option if Purchasing a Samsung S21 Ultra Posted: 04 May 2021 11:47 AM PDT Hello, I was hoping this sub could provide me with some trade in advice as I am considering purchasing an unlocked S21 Ultra this year. The discounted pirce of $999 on Amazon looks fair enough, and I noticed they do offer their own trade in options. I currently have my Sprint carrier and Ebay as other options, so I was curious how these three may have panned out for others. My black S8+ does have some spidering on the back glass and a small quarter inch crack on the lower corner screen from being dropped. I'm also considering waiting for Cyber Monday or something for a good discount, but the current $200 Amazon discount looks pretty significant, unless this is a common markdown at this point. When I want to purchases anything on google play, I select my already registered mastercard and write in my Gmail password. Then, the app redirects me to a form where I have to insert a 6 ciphers code I should have received via SMS. But no SMS at all arrives, even if I clic the resend button. So I googled for some solutions and restarted my phone multiple times, but that didn't work. So I tried updating Android system webview but it said it was up to date. | Instagram - bad quality photo post Posted: 04 May 2021 04:29 AM PDT Hi all, When I want to post photo on Instagram i used to resize it to 2048px (on longer side) and till last month it was ok, I did post it from my oneplus 7T, and everything was nice and crisp. Today when I apply the same procedure, my photos are pixelated. When I try to post the same resized 2048px photo from my work iPhone, everything is crisp... | Mans having a bad time with the Android tings Posted: 04 May 2021 03:36 AM PDT Currently trying to smart switch the data from my S10 to a S20 Fe, however the problem I'm facing is the S10's phone screen died (phone still works fine as far as I'm aware, Eg. Alarms going off and receiving phone calls) I'm attempting to OTG the S10 screen to my monitor which has been successful, however only to the point of showing a grey lock screen with no visible options (was able to unlock S20 via mouse with OTG)(Both phones using pattern security) Does anyone have any solutions on getting passed the grey lock screen or has mans done himself in? At home, all apps work properly when connected to my WiFi, however, at work, only my messaging apps are working. Those include WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram and Gmail. I can use all other apps on my old phone when connected to my work WiFi, this problem only occurs with my new Samsung A51. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? Thanks in advance! | When is Oreo 8.1.0 dropping security support? Posted: 04 May 2021 03:17 AM PDT I build my own Android 8.1 with each security release and would like to know when security support will end. Wikipedia says it was meant to end last year but was postponed due to Covid? Android Oreo 8.1 is the last version of Android (API 27) that supports MIPS processors hence I cannot upgrade. | Instagram suddenly can't connect Posted: 04 May 2021 01:49 AM PDT I've been facing this issue from time to time where instagram on my phone wouldn't refresh the feed and won't connect to anything. My phone has internet and it's working fine in other apps, just instagram refuses to connect. One time the only way to fix it was too uninstall and reinstall. Now it's completely refusing to connect and giving a vague error on failing to connect. I compared versions and I'm running the exact same one on my Tab. Any advice is appreciated.
