Puffin Tv browser Doesn't load images

So puffin tv browser doesn't load images on websites anymore, despite my default browser on tv works fine (i don't use default because everytime pop up ad appears, the page i was in refreshes automatically) anyone knows a fix? reinstallation already tried no good, we got the subscription as well. Puffin sometimes demand a captcha to select images before playing a video, but since the website doesn't show the images i can't complete it....

Black levels lightened recently on Chromecast with Google TV?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 11:14 PM PDT

I only noticed this within the last couple days, where any letterboxed content no longer has inky black bars on my plasma, rather dark gray. It's not just the bars, it's the whole image, blacks are no longer black. I thought maybe my plasma was going through one of those lightning phases that Panasonic's supposedly go through, but upon further investigation the exact same content remains inky black and beautiful when running through my PlayStation 4. I thought maybe it was isolated to the HDMI input on my receiver, but plugging the Chromecast into the PS4 port yielded the same lightened blacks.

Has anyone noticed anything like this lately? It's such an odd thing to appear out of nowhere, and I still feel like I'm going crazy, but it's a night and day difference when I play the same show on the two devices, and that definitely wasn't the case a couple weeks ago.

    PlayStation Platinum Headset confirmed working!

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 06:16 PM PDT

Today I decided to plug my PS headset dongle into my Sony KD-55X9007H (silver) after my WI-C600N ran out of juice.

After reading about a couple of negative results, I didn't have much faith in it. Alas, I didn't hear any sound so I unplugged the dongle, calling it a night, until I saw a message pop up on my TV saying "Headphones disconnected". Turns out the volume was turned all the way down and can now confirm that the platinum headsets should work on Sony TV's with Android version 9 on it.

Let me know if it works with the Golds also.

    Choosing a decent box

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 12:57 PM PDT

I never had a smart tv box, and I thought it's about time to get one.

Until to this day, I manily used my PS3 to stream movies via UMS to my TV, and my laptop connected with HDMI cable to the TV to view netflix and youtube.

I'm looking for a box that will:

    1. Be able to stream movies through media server on my PC
    2. Run netflix and youtube
    3. Be able to use wired ethernet cable.
    4. High quality performance (no lagging issues, strong enough to run 4k movies etc).

I researched through the entire web for a box to suit my needs and ended up very confused because it looks like every box has poor hardware, buggy OS, crashing apps, etc..

    My thoughts so far:

    1. NVIDIA Shield (2019) - Looks like having the best performance, but I noticed it has only 2GB ram and 8GB storage (only 4.5 usable), isn't it too low for its cost? [Cost 200$]
    2. Xiaomi Mi Box S - Sounds pretty ok but very buggy, performance is not like nvidia shield, however does its work. also have 2gb ram and 8gb storage. wired adapter can be used [Cost 90$]
    3. Google chromecast with Google TV - Sounds like the xiaomi, but less buggy. wired adapter can be used like the xiaomi [100$]
    4. Roku Ultra - Sounds better than xiaomi and google chromecast even though it has the same specs, but currently is unavailable in my country.
    5. Transpeed x88 (Chinese) - Amazon sells it and it's also being sold by Aliexpress. It has many models with different specs. e.g. 4gb ram and 32gb storage. It sounds pretty cool but I watched a YT review on this one, and its temps go like 100 while watching videos, quite risky.

IMO the best candidate is the NVIDIA Shield. the Pro version costs 70$ more, but not sure if the upgrade worths the extra cost?

If you have a suggestion for one of these models, or a better model to suggest, please do. Thanks!

Upgrade Android 8 TV to Google TV interface?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2021 02:27 PM PDT

Hi! I have a Sony TV (XBR-55X810C) that is stuck on Android 8. What are my different options if I wanted to force-upgrade it to the Google TV interface? Tried to Google with no luck
