Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:29 PM PDT Recently there have been some accusations of shilling for small brands, targeted at some of our moderators or at members of the community who are enthusiasts for other brands. That said, we have also seen some activity that we do consider to be advertising through reviews, and that is no longer going to be accepted. We also ended up pinning two giveaways, and in hindsight, that shouldn't have happened. We realised that we didn't have a general policy set for this, so we decided to make one. OEM/3rd Party PolicyAll giveaways must first receive approval from the moderators. To do so, we need to be sent a modmail. These decisions fall fully under our discretion and permission can be revoked at any time. In the case of reviews of devices earned from giveaways, a disclaimer must be put in the title and in the post body stating such. Any images in the review should be taken by the user, rather than images from the OEM or reseller. Including a verification image (your username written on paper) in one of the images is also appreciated. Drafts of these posts can be sent to the moderators before posting in order to clear up any issues, if one wishes, but this is not required. Reviews of this kind are also subject to all other subreddit rules. Reddit giveaways are for redditors. The giveaway should be entered from Reddit. It should not redirect to Facebook/Twitter or have any other conditions that require you to leave the site. Mod PolicyWe will allow OEMs and groups to contact us and allow us to run a giveaway. If it is the case that they wish for us to completely manage it, meaning that we write the posts, decide how to run it, and then pick the winner (even if random). Then we would simply tell the provider where to ship the device, then we consider it a subreddit giveaway, in which case it is eligible for us to pin it. An OEM or other group can have had contact with us previously on how to organise a giveaway here, but unless it meets all the conditions above, it will be subject to the other policy. They will still have to seek approval with us and will only be granted the "Approved Contest" flair. The OEM must also have their own account and verify it with us. Our only stipulation on this subreddit is that posts follow our general rules (very similar to most subreddits) and that posts are about Android TV device. Small brands do make official ATV device. Some may lack Netflix or Prime Video certification, but it's still Android TV. A full list of these can of course be found on http://androidtv-guide.com. It's important to remember that there are more devices out there than the Nvidia Shield, CCGTV etc. They may be the most popular, and they could even be called "the best" but they're not the only devices, therefore our community isn't only about them. Ever since we took over moderation here, we've done our best to ensure that this subreddit remains oriented towards legitimate devices, and we have no intentions of stopping. Posts about generic "Android boxes" are not allowed and never will be. However, jumping to accusations of shilling for anyone purely mentioning a smaller brand (even if they're an enthusiast) just seems very unfair. If I constantly tell everyone "you should check out the Nvidia Shield, it's a very nice device" then I'm not an Nvidia shill, I just like the device. Why's it any different for other brands? TL;DR
This post has been made so that everyone can understand our point of view and how we will act with regards to these situations in the future. Please leave your feedback below and any suggestions you may have. Without your input then this isn't a community! [link] [comments]

I have Sony latest android TV Model 7500H 55" inch Posted: 23 Apr 2021 02:20 PM PDT I'm watching Netflix late night and want to connect headphones to the TV. The Sony's bluetooth headphones cost around $200. My low quality bluetooth headphones are not pairing with the TV and I've checked with the website it says not all headphones will connect. I'm wondering if there's a way I can connect my android phone to tv and connect the wired headphones in to mobile and receive sound from the mobile like a playstation 4 controller. TCL 50" Not optimizing full screen videos casted from Chrome Posted: 23 Apr 2021 12:20 PM PDT Hey all, Quick question and I'm betting it's an easy fix, but just picked up a TCL 50" with Android TV/Chromecast built in yesterday. Finally got the the TV to show up as a casting option after updating everything but now when I cast from Chrome and maximize the video player on Chrome (streams mostly) it doesn't actually optimize what's being casted to the TV. I've got a Chromecast Ultra on my TCL 65" (w/ Hulu) and when I maximize any video casting to that it'll go black for a second and it'll optimize and the quality will be great. With the built in Chromecast on the TCL 50" when I maximize the video player on chrome it basically just mirrors the tab still. I've checked to make sure always optimized is selected on Chrome and I've tried casting from both my laptop and desktop, from different websites/video players with the same result. Anyone else had this issue? Am I going to have to shell out another $50 to get a standard 4k Chromecast? Thanks! [link] [comments]
