| 3 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 167) Posted: 26 Mar 2021 05:06 AM PDT Welcome back, my fellow mobile gamers :) Here's the latest episode of my weekly roundup of the most interesting games I played last week. I hope you'll enjoy it. This episode includes a unique cross-platform adventure MMO that plays a bit like Sky: Children of the Light, a fun roguelike arcade bullet hell game, and an RPG where we use dice to calculate our damage and capture monsters. Disagree with my opinion? Let's have a friendly discussion below. New to these posts? Check out the first one from 167 weeks ago here. The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is. Let's get to the games:Arcadium - Space War [Game Size: 72 MB] (free)Genre: Arcade / Asteroids-inspired / Indie / Sci-fi - Offline Playable Orientation: Portrait Required Attention: Full tl;dr review: Arcadium 2 is a fun indie roguelike asteroids-inspired space shooter where we shoot down enemies coming at us from all four sides while frantically moving our spaceship around to avoid getting hit. Shooting happens automatically, and as we progress through the waves of enemies and tough bosses, we occasionally get to pick one of three random upgrades that last until we die. The goal is to survive for as long as possible. We grow stronger by unlocking and upgrading spaceships with various stats, such as damage, attack speed, movement speed, and more. Each spaceship provides a slightly different gameplay experience. We can also buy pets that provide permanent stat boosts and unlock 15 unique active skills that often mean the difference between life or death. The gold and gems used to buy spaceships, skills, and pets are acquired through gameplay or by completing achievement missions. For the most hardcore players, the difficulty can even be increased to earn up to 35% more gold and gems by activating up to three options that for example improve the enemy AI. Arcadium 2 monetizes through iAPs for more gold and gems to instantly upgrade spaceships, skills, and pets. Everything except a few pets can be acquired through gameplay, however, so the iAPs are never necessary and don't feel pushed. Google Play: Here MiniReview link: Here Fer.al [Total Game Size: 655 MB] (free)Genre: Adventure / MMO / 3D / Cross-playform - Requires Online Access Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Fer.al is a PC and mobile cross-platform 3D MMO adventure game where we explore a large open-world as a mythical cat-like creature with thousands of other players. After creating our creature, we start exploring the sandbox-like universe by collecting materials used for crafting new cosmetics, completing quests, playing fun mini-games, and discovering secrets and hidden items. While there is no overall objective to the game, it is heavily focused on interacting and trading with other players while continuously customizing our creature with hundreds of craftable modifications, markings, and clothing items. The universe and NPCs are humorous, and the high level of freedom creates an experience somewhat reminiscent of Sky: Children of the Light. The game is still in early access, however, and its main drawbacks are its long load times and somewhat confusing menu UI that takes a bit to get used to. The controls are alright, but the game also works with some Bluetooth controllers, which definitely provides a better experience. Fer.al monetizes through a $10.99 season pass that provides us with unique cosmetics. Since these don't unlock new gameplay or give in-game advantages, it is unnecessary to ever buy any iAPs to enjoy the game. Google Play: Here MiniReview link: Here Tiny Dice Dungeon [Game Size: 103 MB] (free)Genre: RPG / RNG / Min-maxing / Turn-based - Online + Offline-playable Orientation: Landscape Required Attention: Some tl;dr review: Tiny Dice Dungeon is a unique dice-based RPG where we fight and capture monsters by rolling dice to calculate our damage. It features humorous enemy designs, lots of unique dice, and a heavy focus on mix-maxing through equipping specific combinations of dice and pets. During the turn-based fights, we can continue rolling our hero and pet's dice as many times as we want to increase the total damage output, but if we roll a 1, our turn ends without dealing any damage. The same is true for the opponents on their turn. This constant RNG gamble of risk versus reward is what makes the combat fun. Enemies can be captured as pets by dealing damage exactly equal to their HP. These pets can each equip dice just like our hero, and we take them with us into battle to deal more damage. New dice are acquired using uncut dice, which we can buy through iAPs or grind through missions or PvP. There are many different types of dice, such as multiplier, healing, or curse dice – all of which enabled different combat strategies. The game features a single-player campaign and non-real-time PvP against other players' hero and dice. Tiny Dice Dungeon monetizes through iAPs for uncut dice, and incentivized ads to get various rewards. The iAPs provide a pay-to-progress-faster advantage in especially the PvP. The game is great fun for the first many hours of gameplay, although gathering the resources required to unlock new dice eventually gets very grindy. | pureya, a WarioWare like indie game just released! Posted: 26 Mar 2021 10:59 AM PDT pureya consists of a series of minigames that change every 10 seconds. It's a premium release with loads of content (+30 minigames, unlockable skins) and it's very addicting and replayable. Having played the beta for a long time now, I'd say the game is a must buy for pretty much everyone, and I'd love seeing it become a classic over time :) Here's the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Majorariatto.Pureya Link to the trailer: https://youtu.be/R2RMcUb_wXc [link] [comments] | ||
| Are there any overlay magnifying apps out there? Posted: 25 Mar 2021 10:34 PM PDT I was just wondering if there were any apps out there you could use over a game to maybe hold down your finger to magnify parts of the screen? I have a Note 10+ and recently downloaded the digital version of Fury of Dracula. I know these games are probably best suited for play on a tablet, but all I have is my phone. My issue is: some of these games have RIDICULOUSLY small text in them with no way to change it in the settings. Here's a screenshot from Dracula as an example: https://i.imgur.com/PwJMYBC.jpg This isn't my first game like this (Baldurs Gate comes to mind), but the first that made me ask. I'm 36 years old with no vision problems and no glasses. But squinting to read text like that after 15 or so minutes is just punishing. Anyway, I I know this is a strange request, but I was just wondering if there is any app that you could use to hold your finger down and magnify the screen temporarily or something. Thanks! Edit: To be more specific, I mean something like this : https://i.imgur.com/UBdbylf.jpg [link] [comments] | ||
| Tencent’s Post-apocalyptic title Undawn is set to release on Android and iOS Posted: 26 Mar 2021 10:04 AM PDT Chinese multinational technology conglomerate Tencent Games has announced a new open-world zombie game titled Undawn. The new game is being developed by Lightspeed & Quantum Studios, a subsidiary and internal division of Tencent Games. It's worth noting that the studio is behind the development of the most popular battle-royale PUBG Mobile. According to the official announcement, the team responsible for the development of PUBG Mobile is taking the charge of Undawn, set to release later this year. The trademark for Undawn was reportedly done in November 2020, as the game was in the initial stage of development. Set in a dangerous and unforgiving world, players must fight for survival against the dual threats of zombies and other humans. It's a co-op action game that features both Player vs Player (PvP) and Player vs Environment (PvE) gameplay. The players can only survive by hunting for available resources and battle with enemies both undead and very much alive. To flourish, the players need to build unique shelters, trade resources, and make strategies to protect themselves. You can check here for more on the news [link] [comments] | ||

| Remapping touchscreen controls to play on a controller without root Posted: 26 Mar 2021 11:59 AM PDT I bought a game called Suzy Cube for Android because I saw a video of someone on youtube playing it on a controller, so it confirms it has controller support. However, after I purchased it, i tried to play it with my Ipega red knight pg9087 controller and all the buttons are messed up, only Start button works, and the d-pad, face buttons and analog stick doesn't work, L and R buttons work as the jump button. I want to try to fix this. While I wait for support which I contacted via email, I'm trying to play this game on my controller because I don't want to play it through the touchscreen. I tried to use an app called gamekeyboard+ but without root it doesn't let me remap touch controls on my controller and I don't want to root my phone. If I can't solve this, then I have no choice but to either purchase another telescopic controller that supports this game properly or to play with the touchscreen. The game is a good 3d platformer and I don't want to refund it because i can't play with a controller. [link] [comments] | ||

| [REQUEST] Games to play with girlfriend Posted: 26 Mar 2021 04:55 AM PDT So me and my girlfriend wanted to play games together once again. We would prefer a couple system like the one in dragon raja, though we quit that game long ago. Still, any type of genre is accepted as we don't mind that as long as we enjoy the game itself [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 26 Mar 2021 07:11 AM PDT I bought Civ VI a while ago but got a refunded (without asking). I noticed it's on sale again and was thinking of getting it but was wondering if anyone who has it can say if the DLC is also on sale. Interesting in gathering storm but don't want to pay full price for something I already own on Steam. [link] [comments] | ||

| [REQUEST] Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Posted: 25 Mar 2021 01:16 PM PDT Hello fellow redditors, I haven't played a CYOA in a while, what are some of your favourite CYOAs? (I would prefer if they don't have NSFW or romance in them) [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 25 Mar 2021 06:37 PM PDT Hi, Anyone know of any games that are like a mix of Navy Field and Warship Fleet Command? Navy Field used to have more customizable feature where you could recruit sailors and develop parts for your ship but they don't seem to have that on mobile. Is there any naval game with the combat style of Navy Field but with a fleet management and ship management aspect where you can equip parts and sailors that level with you? Warship fleet comes close but the combat is lacking. Thanks [link] [comments] | ||
