| Is there a way to start foreground service without persistent notification Posted: 18 Mar 2021 08:21 AM PDT My current project, a delivery system like uber requires constant location updates and notification based jobs, and we have been receiving complaints due to the "bait" notification the startForeground() gives, is there any way to combat this issue? | How to approach Background Services - Test Project Posted: 18 Mar 2021 02:11 AM PDT Currently working on a test project to learn how to handle Background work in Android. The goal is to track phone's functionality, e.g CellInfo - get logs about whether the Phone is currently using 2G/3G/LTE etc. I would extend the functionality to tracking screen state, airplane mode, location info etc. Also, that the app would continue tracking that data on device boots as well. From what I've gathered from the official documentation (https://developer.android.com/guide/background), I should approach background work with either Coroutines, WorkManager or AlarmManager. But every single guide I've taken a look at uses the Service method with a persistent notification. I understand there may not be a universal solution where one approach is THE right one, but some guidance/discussion about the pros and cons of aformentioned solutions would be of great help. Min SDK would be Android 8.0. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 18 Mar 2021 07:14 AM PDT Ok I have checked some options out like AIDE and Sketchware to develop on the android device. I looked for an AIDE showcase and there is none . I looked for Sketchware showcase but only found a few examples scattered around. I don't know any other tools and afraid to use these 2 products based on store reviews. 1) Have you used AIDE or Sketchware? Can I download your app or game made with it? 2) Is there any other tools out there you know of ? Or any other methods of making games or app on an android device? Thanks for your time and help!! | Choosing the best tool for building social media app Posted: 18 Mar 2021 04:43 AM PDT Alongside a team, I'm going to build a social media app. At the beginning just for Android. If it succeeds we will build for apple. However I'm confused although after searching and reading articles for hours. Which tool to use between Java or kotlin or react native? I was about to use React Native. However as a startup, I read that react native size and performance falls back behind java or kotlin. But on the other side, some successful social medias like Facebook and Instagram are using react native. Any advise is appreciated by any means. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 18 Mar 2021 04:24 AM PDT I need to develop an app that connects to existing xmpp and sip server. I already know which libraries to use, smack and the native sip sdk. I cannot figure out how to implement the connections and the listeners in my mvvm architecture. Should i create a singleton with hilt and inject in my main activity or should i keep them in a repository so i can then save messages in a room database or neither of both? Any help is appreciated, Thanks [link] [comments] | ||
| Minimum API target for android game development? Posted: 17 Mar 2021 06:36 PM PDT Hello, I'm curious what is the typical minimum API target for android games? I'm completely new to developing android games, and my first game will be done shortly next month. I chose API 16 Android SDK 4.1 Jelly bean when originally creating the solution. Is there any good reason to have chose a newer minimum SDK? Thank you for your time. [link] [comments] | ||
| App signed with the wrong key on playstore console Posted: 18 Mar 2021 03:42 AM PDT Greetings everyone, I'm totally new on programming and I made a simple app for playstore. In the last 7 days I went through an overwhelming quantity of information and first I must say respect to you all. For what I have learned programming would be best explained with this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbSehcT19u0 , this is how I felt while doing it. Lost countless of hours to just do simple things in the app and then after resolving one issues, another one would pop up but I was able to resolve all issues except the last one and that is the google play app singing problem. I just dont know how to proceed anymore. When I upload my app (I use google app singing) I get the error message that the app is signed with the wrong SHA1 key and to sign it with the correct one. Please can someone explain to me step by step how to implement googles sha1 key in to my app and then upload it to google because I'm gonna loose my mind. Thank you [link] [comments] | ||
| I've made a free list of remote android dev roles which all have a social / environmental impact Posted: 17 Mar 2021 09:55 AM PDT If you are interested in finding meaningful work as an android dev in the 'tech for good' space I hope this list will be valuable to you and the wider community. All jobs are 100% remote and categorised by the UN's Sustainable Development Goals fighting poverty, climate change, improving mental health + many many more world changing impact areas.
Does anyone know of any other companies on android I could add to the list? If this is useful to you or you have any feedback do let me know. [link] [comments] | ||
| ANDROID SECURITY.. is google frp lock still bypassable? Posted: 18 Mar 2021 01:48 AM PDT There was a time when google implented google frp lock or in ios equivalent icloud lock if Im not mistaken in android 7- 8xx..In those android versions the frp lock is still not secure as there still a way to get into phones even with it being on, unlike on iphones or ios devices once you dont know the pw theres no workaround for it, rendering the device useless. The very reason I i like ios because its just harder to get into. NOW my question is, is there still a way for google frp lock to be bypassed on android 11 without hardware intervention? in pixel, samsung etc. phones. Hoping the loopholes have been fixed by google by now so phone thieves wont find a way to make use of lost devices.. Any replies would be appreciated 🤩🤩🤩 [link] [comments] | ||

| Anyone else seeing stuck app update reviews? Posted: 17 Mar 2021 10:19 AM PDT My app has been stuck in the review process for more then 2 days now. Generally it goes through in 4-5 hrs. I even tried re-publishing the update. Is anyone else also seeing excessive review delays? [link] [comments] |
