Posted: 31 Mar 2021 07:48 AM PDT I thought if it's "Top Free" it would be down to installs mainly, but this clearly doesn't seem to be the case judging from our installs going up and place in the list going down. Top grossing is obviously much clearer, but top free is a much better list to be high up in, even if your app has in-app purchases. Any insight would be great, thanks. [link] [comments]
Essential requirements to be an Android developer in 2021 Posted: 31 Mar 2021 07:42 AM PDT Hi, I'm finding it hard to get a grasp of the necessary requirements for becoming an Android developer. What I'm looking for is a comprehensive list, without any niche technologies, only what is popular, to get myself started. I already made 2 Android apps with only Java and Android studio. I know for a Java developer the standard is something like this: - Java + IDE like eclipse - Spring - Hibernate - SQL - GIT - Scrum This is what I think it's necessary for Android development so far: - Java - Kotlin - Android studio - SQL - GIT What am I missing? Are there any Frameworks for how to structure code like in Django with views, urls, templates and forms? Are there any standard types of databases and object relational mapping software? I'm a noob am I missing something that's key which I haven't mentioned yet? [link] [comments]
Does putting up a game for pre-release cost anything? Posted: 31 Mar 2021 07:33 AM PDT I am a novice gamedev and we will be launching our game soon, I know the developer account cost 25 dollars and I have read about the app specifications and requirements for pre-release, but it didnt say anything about the cost. Is the biggest struggle to get it approved or? Thank you for any responses [link] [comments]
Beginner to app development, having some confusion over what to use Posted: 31 Mar 2021 07:07 AM PDT I am working on my first android app for uni, creating a health app where users can input blood sugar levels and weight and displaying this information on graphs, and having a tab to show some exercises. I plan to have the sugar levels in one tab, weight in the second, and the exercises in the third. The first two tabs will just contain a text field, a button, and a graph which takes the input when button is clicked, saves it and plots it. My issue is I'm not sure whether using fragments or activities/tabs or bottom navigation bar will be easier, as I am a complete beginner to java and android development and am pretty stuck. What do you recommend I focus on, and is there a simpler way to do this I'm overlooking? Thank you very much. [link] [comments]
Posted: 31 Mar 2021 06:48 AM PDT Hi everyone, I was disappointed to hear that caster.io shut down last month. I really liked how caster.io focused on topics and libraries that are currently hot in the android community. I also liked how the tutorials were easy to digest and were taught by Google Developer Experts. I was wondering what resources you think are the best alternatives to caster.io. Thanks [link] [comments]

Play Store Experiments needed to publish? Posted: 31 Mar 2021 03:08 AM PDT I started an experiment 2 days ago and there is still no data. It says experiment has been running for 2 days, but on the Publishing overview, it shows the experiment as changes ready to publish. Do I need to publish the experiment or is it still collecting data? I couldn't find any info about this. [link] [comments]

How to report other apps that broke google play policy. Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:52 PM PDT My competitor's app provides a way for user to pay outside google play's payment system. Which is a direct violation of the policy and is an unfair advantage. Yet google does nothing for years. How to let google knows to take action? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Mar 2021 10:47 AM PDT I've been a hobby dev for 3 years and got into a great tech company right before IPO. We're expanding quickly but I was hired for SaaS sales through an employee referral. Tomorrow I have a 1:1 with a senior android dev on the other side of the company to pick his brain. My goal is to do well in my sales role but make it apparent I want to be in engineering. Have any of you made this transition? What would be some thoughtful questions to ask? [link] [comments]

Posted: 30 Mar 2021 09:16 AM PDT i am new to app development and i am one of those privacy nerds too. since i live in iran i cant risk releasing any controversial software and face the awful and unfair consequences . therefore i am curious about the privacy risks of android development and how i can avoid leaking my true location and identity to anyone with my programming .
