Hey all! Looking to buy a VR headset, wanted to know if you are currently facing any problems with your VR headsets

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 04:49 AM PST

I wanted to watch YouTube videos while laying down in my bed lmfao, and thought buying a VR headset would be a good solution. However, I have heard anecdotes about them making people dizzy minutes after wearing them. Also, there would be no control over YouTube playback once the phone is inserted in the headset, and I would have to rely on autoplay, or make a playlist beforehand.

Is buying a VR headset a good solution to this problem? Or are there better solutions?

    Thanks in advance!

So I am looking for a way to use the internal gyroscope of my Android tablet to control the mouse cursor on the tablet, as if it was a USB or Bluetooth mouse was being used. Any ideas how one might swing this?

    Thanks!

    Unusual punctuation behavior Gboard

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 03:21 AM PST

Good day. Often while voice texting, I'll say the words "period" , "question mark", etc to have it insert them.

Often this works well, but occasionally, it will insert the spoken word inside a curly bracket, such as {question-mark} instead of ?

Anyone have any insight on why it does this?

Android 11 'One home ui keeps stopping' bug & I feel my last option is to Odin/Flash Android 10 back but my carrier has no CSC

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:55 AM PST

TL;DR Device: Galaxy S10+ Android 11 update came with the 'one home ui keeps stopping' bug & I think my last option is to Odin/flash Android 10 back but I can't get my carrier's CSC (AT&T).

So I delayed doing the android 11 update as long as I could as I've found it a good practice. Somehow it got installed & I have an extremely frustrating bug: every 30 seconds or so a notification pops up overriding whatever I'm doing to tell me "One ui home keeps stopping"

So I've tried everything from updating one ui home thru Samsung store to clearing cache/ clearing data to checking for new updates. My most recent fail was doing a restore which proves I have much to learn about phone tech as it didn't affect the OS.

The last option Before I attempt to wait on the phone (which would take HOURS or risk unnecessary Covid exposure by going into a store) is to use Odin to flash Android 10 back onto my device, which I have no expirence with (but I can follow directions). My newest issue is I can't find AT&T's CSC, there isn't one listed @ sammobile.

I need help & don't know where else to ask or look. Any assistance provided would be IMMENSELY appreciated!

are there any speakers similar to google home but just connect to wifi to use instead of bluetooth?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:35 AM PST

Sorry if the title seems confusing, one of the reasons why I love using my google home is because I can use it at work without getting into trouble because we aren't allowed to have phones at work to listen to music so I'm not allowed to buy a bluetooth speaker.

I was curious if there were any type of speakers that support spotify or just some that can connect to my phone through the wifi somehow?

was just curious because I really want to have a nice speaker to listen to at work but some coworkers have been trying to get me into trouble by playing inappropriate music on my speaker because of alexa. Just wanna know if there are any options out there that speakers can possibly support built in spotify if thats a thing?

Is there an app that allows HTML signatures?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:22 AM PST

I love gmail and all but for my work replies I don't want it to appear as being sent from my phone having a mobile signature. I've looked for quite a while and couldn't find anything that goes with what I'm looking for.

    Any recommendations?

    Cameras won't work

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:20 AM PST

Hello. I have a Samsung Galaxy A50 at the moment and my cameras don't work in any way. I had the same problem in the past but i fixed it with a system cache reset and it worked back again, but for this time i can't do anything. Force stopped the app, cleared cache, reset the setting, i did everything apart from factory resetting my phone (which i would like this to be my last thing to do). I don't have any third-party apps that interrupt the camera from working, i hope Instagram and Messenger won't be the problem, since i tried to open the camera with these apps and it ended with no luck.

The error i'm getting in the app is just a black screen with the app's UI, sometimes the app would freeze or display an error message.

My phone is in great condition, never had major damage or drops, any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks

Connectivity issue on Sony Xperia XZ Premium

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 11:17 AM PST

Hi. Last year the charging port was changed on my Xperia XZ Premium in the repair shop, so the phone is charging when I connect it to an outlet or USB port, but the problem is that my PC doesn't detect it, so no data transfer is possible. I've tried dozens of different methods, different cables, different PCs and laptops, different OS's: Windows, macOS, Linux, tried installing the latest XZ Premium drivers. I've also tried all the same things with a properly working phone and it works as it should. The only thing is that Xperia is still runs on Android 9, which I want to update to 10 or 11, but not sure if I will be able to do so due to no connectivity with the PC. The developer mode is enabled, USB debugging on. When the phone is connected there's no pop-up to select whether to charge the phone or use it for data transfer but in Default USB configuration it is set to File Transfer. Also some pressure has to be applied on the back of the phone to make it charge properly. Here are some screenshots relating to this problem I've made some time ago - screenshots and here is the thread from 1 year ago where we tried to find a solution to this - Computer doesn't detect the Sony smartphone. : SonyXperia (reddit.com). I've created this one just to get some fresh thoughts on this issue, maybe we'll be able to come up with something new. Is it possible that with the new Android version this issue may be resolved due to system improvements and fixes?

Found an old android game I used to play, and looking to try to get it working again

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 04:51 AM PST

I found an old game that has since been removed from the Play store, downloaded the APK and edited it to a higher SDK version (the target version was 17, which I'm pretty sure was android 4.2) and after changing the targetSdkVersion to 28, I was able to get to the static image that the game shows before it starts, but no further than that (at least it didn't crash). Is there any way I might be able to port this to android 11?

How do i stop microsoft onedrive popups from appearing every time I take a photo or screenshot

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 10:45 AM PST

This is an incredibly annoying problem that has me at my wits end. I'm actually considering switching phones if I can't solve this. Every time I take a photo or a screenshot a pop-up appears from Microsoft OneDrive asking if I want to upload it to their servers. The answer is always going to be NO. I don't even have OneDrive installed on my phone, or at least I can't find the app while searching. How can I fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    White blinking microphone icon

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 09:56 AM PST

Hi, my friend just showed me something on her phone and noticed in her status bar a white blinking microphone icon. I just said 'oh your microphone icon is blinking idk what that is but here' and gave the phone back. Since I think paranoid easily I thought I'd ask here about this to verify that she was not recording our conversation and that the microphone icon has to do with some app or something. I tried google but youknow it didn't help so I hope someone hers can. Thanks for reading 🌈

    Optimizing notifications

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 09:14 AM PST

I am wondering how to change notifications to match the system of IOS. Basically on my iPad I open my screen and my notifications are shown but content is hidden. When it registers my face id it expands each notification to show the content. Then swiping up I can open my iPad, swiping right on one of the notifications will take me to that app. Is there any way to do this in android?

Had anyone found a workaround for Android Auto to get the car to recognize the phone?

    Posted: 13 Feb 2021 10:22 PM PST

I've got a Google phone with a Google os running a Google app, and the failure rate is about 70%. Plug it in and nothing. Can't use navigation, can't pay my music, nothing.

At this point I'm almost ready to go apple.

Has anyone found a way to get the car to recognize the phone?

Use ADB or Fastboot to reset a phone parameter

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 07:26 AM PST

Hi, I'm quite desperate on my actual problem, I'm going here hoping that someone can help me.

I have a Xiaomi redmi note 9 3Gb, which is freezing quite often since I have it (I bought it from a phone agency, it is not a modified phone or whatever). Looking for some tips, I enabled developers parameters to enable one or two things to optimize the performance of the phone.

I went back a few time later, to see if something else in it could help me optimize it again, there was a parameter which was not an on/off thing, it was a value, I modified it a bit, by curiosity. I don't remember exactly what it was but something doing with the screen, like minimal width or whatever. I tried to go back to the initial value, but the phone didn't go back to normal, so in my big stupidity, I modified the value by 10000, the phone turned off, and now is locked in a reboot loop, going back every time on a "Redmi-recovery 3.0" screen, reboot doesn't work, and I don't want to wipe my data (2nd option on the screen). I can go on fastboot mode.

So here is my question, is there a ADB or fastboot command which will enable me to reset the developer parameters?

Thanks for reading this, Hope someone can help me.

    have a nice day

QC quick charge 3.0 vs 5Amp

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 06:37 AM PST

There's a bunch of confusing lingo out there and I'm sure someone here can untangle it.

I'm shopping for USB wall outlets and I've narrowed them down to either

    High speed 5.0A USB

    Or

    Quick charge 3.0 4.2A USB

Which one of these will charge my phone/ipad faster and is it a significant difference?

I'm ashamed, I'm a 20 year old who can't figure out how to set a contact photo

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 02:49 AM PST

    Galaxy S10

So some of my contacts appear way more customizable than others. I just recently added a contact and would like to put a face to the name, I don't ever get an option to tap on the default blue circle that has become the contact "photo" to try and change it. Going to the photo in my gallery and then trying to find contacts doesn't work as it only allows me to change MY contact photo. I already have some people with photos since I made them a while ago. What has changed?

SOLVED: When saving new contacts, only certain types of contacts can have photos attached. I was saving photos to the SIM card, which didn't support photos. Most other kinds of contacts do, just experiment with them when you create a new contact

Now the S9 is no longer supported by security patches, should I replace it, even though the phone is great for my needs still?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 06:33 AM PST

I'm using the s9 and it does everything I could want in a phone, but now the last security patch has been released, it marks the end of it's supported lifespan.

In previous phones, if I dragged them out, I would feel the phone become sluggish towards the end of it's life, but the s9 doesn't, it's a great phone. I only use the camera for selfies, holiday snaps (miss those days) and scanning documents.

So for me, I don't feel like I 'want' to upgrade, but the question is 'should' I upgrade? Now the security patches are over, is it wise to renew my daily driver?

Samsung Galaxy Phones - Samsung Cloud Malware / Ransomware

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 06:21 AM PST

Samsung Galaxy phones which were compromised and had 2FA disabled in real time by the hackers, phone sim spoofed and different apk of this slaveware that is full of spyware tools for you to do the same to others. Steals all your email accounts and accounts linked to them etc. empties bank apps etc using. Records what you say, saves as keywords as well using nfc, records you through camera, captures interesting pictures such as QR codes, loads more horrifying features.

Seem to be exploiting google login button and trying to create Samsung Cloud accounts if they are not setup on the device. Completely removed anyway if you recovering an account.

Affiliate of some South Korean company, Russian hacker group as well. I can't find any info, which is surprisingly how serious this is. Anyone know much about this?
