Chrome - Outlook Web Access - Add to Home Screen option becomes Install App Posted: 26 Feb 2021 06:57 AM PST Hello. I'd like to add a Chrome Outlook Web Access icon to my home screen, but the usual "add to home screen" menu item in Chrome shows as Install App. I don't want to use the Outlook app, I need to keep it within Chrome. Any options? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
How to stop random app playback when using Bluetooth to resume playback. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:48 AM PST I use a few different audio apps on a daily basis. (Podcasts, YT music, Smart Audio Books, Spotify) When I'm listening to, let's say YT music, I'll pause it with my headphones if I need to. Than when I want to resume listening, I'll unpause with my headphones. (I think this is fairly common for most) Once I hit play (with headphones) Android will launch a different app and begin playing that audio. Usually Spotify or my audiobook app. Not the Audio I was just listening to. This is annoying af. Any suggestions? [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to force your phone to directly use power from its usb connection only? Posted: 25 Feb 2021 09:08 PM PST Given that lithium batteries tend to degrade faster with constant charging, is there a way to stop the phone from using the usb to charge the battery once it is at 100%? Instead, draw power directly from the usb cable. I'm asking because I tend to place my phone in a usb power dock when working at my computer. [link] [comments] |

Recommendations for someone who wants an upgrade from their Samsung S5 smartphone? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:51 AM PST I've been using the S5 for a few years and although I've been mostly happy with it, it's very slow and unresponsive at times which is annoying. Also the battery life is not good. Just wondering could someone recommend me an android phone that would be similar to the S5 but is more modern? I'm not looking for anything fancy. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 10:42 AM PST Hey guys, basically my google play store (not the services) is eating up a lot of battery while being in active use, even though I have not opened the app and used it for that long. I have no idea what's causing this , but its draining heck lot of battery. As of now it has been in active use for over 17 hours 45 mins and drained a lot of battery overnight. I have to disable the app every night just for it to not be able to drain my battery. If anyone has a fix for this please let me know, because this is now becoming very annoying and I have no clue on what is causing this. I am also attaching a screenshot showing the battery usage of play store. Thanks [link] [comments] |

Disable Google in app bottom navbar Posted: 26 Feb 2021 10:23 AM PST Hey guys, this is my first post here. I have a question regarding the Google app. Since a new update there is this bottom toolbar and I find it to be incredibly annoying. Do you know whether or not there is any way to disable it? https://i.imgur.com/UPzhnTq.jpg [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 01:24 AM PST I recently found my old Samsung galaxy tab from around 2012. And After Preforming A factory reset I noticed that the app store was out of date and couldn't be updated and without the ability to download new apps the tablet is basically useless (I can't even use the browser because it's out of date). I want to upload a new android os. But I don't know how to even start doing it with such an old tablet. Tablet info: Samsung Galaxy Tab Hardware version: P100.08 Model Number: SPH-P100 Firmware version: 2.3.4 Baseband version: S:P100.08 S.EF17 Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 k.sridhar@sep-33 #2 Build number: GINGERBREAD.EF17 [link] [comments] |
Another Android 11 Scoped Storage question related to emulators. Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:52 AM PST Hey! So I keep hearing everyone is saying that "Scoped Storage makes it so you cannot access SD cards unless an app has been updated". The word access is a bit vague to me as I don't know if it means read, write or both. Here's the situation: I do a lot of emulation on my phone, so my 512GB SD card is chock full of ISOs and similar files. From my understanding, apps can still read those files just fine, it just cannot write to SD card folders. Even if the app hasn't been updated for Android 11? Is this true? The only time I ever tend to write to an SD card is through my file manager apps, which I hear do still work fine. Can anyone who knows for sure answer this question? I'm on an LG V60 on Tmobile, and apparently the 11 update is being pushed out now. So I'm a bit timid on upgrading if it will break anything. Thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 09:28 AM PST I just flashed a stock android 11 rom (moto g pro) onto my moto g stylus. Everything is up and running, they are the same phone other than name. Question is, should I relock the bootloader or is that going to brick? [link] [comments] |
How to create an external display launcher like samsung dex from scratch? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:37 AM PST I have an Android Pie for development purpose, when the device is connected to a external display, I would like to show some boot animation and show a desktop like launcher, where the apps will be listed and user can launch it from external display, Are there any open source apps or resources that can help me here? Rough idea I have: - connect to external display via miracast (Is there any other way?) - listen to some callbacks when external display is added, trigger secondary launcher activity with displayid of the external display which will take care of showing the launcher in the external display, now coming to input, how do I interact with my external display launcher? so far I only redirected the activity to be shown on external display, how can I use my mobile or mouse(connected over bt with my mobile) to access the external display launcher and click the icons etc..? - are there any other challenging things that I am missing? Thanks and have a great day ahead. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Feb 2021 08:10 AM PST Hey guys! So I've just received my new Blitzwolf BW-FYE7 bluetooth headset and I'm using it with a Pocophone F1. There is one problem and I can't figure out what should I do: Every time I'm in a call and trying to watch something on youtube (I'm in long calls usually so yeah I have the time to do it) the speed goes down to 1/3 and there is no sound (the youtube setting says it's still on normal speed). I've done some testing and Netflix/HBO GO/TikTok doesn't have this problem. Only youtube. The only thing I can change is to turn on/off the AAC codec at the bluetooth settings but it makes no change. I've never encountered such problem with my old BT headsets. I'm guessing youtube wants to use the same BT profile/codec that my calls does, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have any idea what can be done to make it work normally? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |

Does it matter in which order I swap my old phone's components/data into my new one? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 07:34 AM PST I've dealt with a Galaxy S6 for several years, now, and recently upgraded to an S10+. Since I'm not experienced with switching phones (I tend to ride them til the wheels fall off) I am curious if there is any sequence of switching phones recommended. For instance... does it matter in which order I activate/insert SIM card, transfer files/data from my old phone to my new, install system updates, switch 2FA/accounts over, etc.? Do I need to maintain wireless service/mobile data and SIM/phone number association on the old phone for anything? Can I just switch over the SIM/activation/number and use WiFi and/or USB backup for everything? In case you're wondering, I will be keeping my old phone and will not wipe it until/unless I am beyond certain I don't need it any longer. I will not be trading it in. I assume the process is fairly safe and straightforward, but I don't wanna miss anything and kick myself later for failing to switch over in the proper order. Thank you, ahead of time! Interesting bug that easily reproduces Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:56 AM PST Android 10 on revvl 5g. When I'm at the gym streaming Google podcast to my bluetooth headphone, while running jefit to track my workout, if I go to my Android internal clock and use the timer, once the timer goes off, I lose bluetooth media streaming (no podcast audio to the bluetooth headphones), but I still can hear the timer go off on my Bluetooth headphones for jefit. I've tried several things. disconnecting reconnecting Bluetooth, stopping and starting the broadcast, stopping and starting media streaming setting for Bluetooth. starting another media streaming service like tunein, the only thing that works is restarting the phone It's not a big deal, I'll just stop using the timer in the clock while working out but it would be great if I could find some work around. Also not sure where I would file bug: T-Mobile, tlc, or google [link] [comments] |
Is resetting a Mate 20 to factory settings going to change the operating system? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:19 AM PST I want to buy a Mate 20 (Huawei) that was set to its Factory Settings. My questions are: Will the phone still operate with Android or is it going to change to some kind of Huawei operating system? (Due to Trumps Android block for Huawei) Am I still going to be able to use/ download all the apps that are now featured in Play Store? The first question is more important as it may explain the second one on its own. I'm aware that this might not be the best Subreddit for this question. Are there any others that would be better? Posted: 26 Feb 2021 05:13 AM PST My main phone is fine, but I have an old Eclair phone which I used a few years ago, and sadly I lost all my apps because I had to factory reset. Now when I try to install any of the games it says "Your device isn't compatible with this version". I don't want to install an apk because I don't know which was the last supported version, and I had problems with the package installer. Is there a way to fix this problem? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Feb 2021 10:01 PM PST So for some reason, in the internal storage that I can currently manage, I have 31.5 GB of 32 GB used, even though the size of the things I can manage is 816 KB. Even then, the system memory is 9 GB so I don't know where all this extra storage is coming from. If anyone knows how to fix this, do tell. I use a micro sd card and my phone is a Galaxy A20. Tethering my Laptop to my Phone Posted: 25 Feb 2021 09:38 PM PST As a hypothetical, if i was to tether my laptop to my phone and my phone is connected to a wifi network, would then my laptop be using data from that wifi network or would my phone default to using my phone data? I'm not sure where else I could find the answer as googling it is difficult given the explanation. [link] [comments] |
