    3 Quick Tl;Dr Android Game Reviews / Recommendations (Episode 163)

    Welcome back, my fellow Android gamers! :) I'm proud to present another episode of my weekly roundup of the most interesting games I played this week. Hope you'll enjoy.

    This episode includes one of the absolute best 2D fighting games I've ever played, a toony idle incremental RPG, and a retro-inspired action and management boxing game.

    The games are "ranked" somewhat subjectively from best to worst, so take the ranking for what it is.

    Let's get to the games:

    Skullgirls [Game Size: 1 GB] (free)

    Genre: Fighting / Action / 2D - Requires Online Access

    Orientation: Landscape

    Required Attention: Full

    tl;dr review:

    Skullgirls is an incredibly well-made 2D fighting game, and a spin-off of the popular PC and console game by the same name.

    Through the level-based story mode, we start fighting using our two first fighters, while gradually unlocking more fighters and special skills by opening "Relics" rewarded through gameplay. Combat is fast-paced and relies on taps and swipe-controls to trigger various attack skills unique to each fighter. To spice things up, we can even switch between fighters during combat to activate special abilities.

    Each fighter can be customized through a skill tree and leveled up faster than through combat by sacrificing other fighters. Over time, we unlock additional game-modes, including a competitive real-time PvP mode where both players start with the same fighters, skills, and levels to make the matches completely fair.

    From its polished and wacky art-style to the humorous universe and original characters, everything about Skullgirls oozes with quality. Combined with the unique and over-the-top animations, this is what truly sets the game apart from other mobile fighters.

    Skullgirls monetizes through iAPs and a premium currency used to instantly unlock fighters and new skills through the Relics gacha mechanic. Thanks to the competitive PvP mode, both PvE and PvP can easily be played and enjoyed without spending any money, however. The only limiting factor is that each individual fighter has an energy bar that takes one hour to replenish once depleted. However, since we have plenty of fighters, there is always another one to switch to.

    Prizefighters 2 [Total Game Size: 81 MB] (free)

    Genre: Boxing / Sports / Simulation / Management / Indie / Pixel - Offline Playable

    Orientation: Landscape

    Required Attention: Full

    tl;dr review:

    Prizefighters 2 is a retro-inspired action and management boxing game where we train and fight our way to the top of the ranks in the career and promoter game modes.

    In the career mode, after initially customizing our new boxer, we start fighting opponents in 3-minute matches to earn gold and progress in our career. During the in-game weeks where we are not fighting, we spend gold on exercising to train stats or recover energy, health, and stamina. We continue like this until we find our next challenger. Eventually, our boxer retires from old age, and we can start a new career with a different character.

    Unlike the career game-mode, the promoter mode lets us fully customize and control the league, including booking fights for each boxer. While the game is fun as a casual experience, there is a lot to dive into for those looking for a long-term gameplay experience as well.

    The customizable controls work well, making it easy to land jabs and punches or dodge incoming attacks. Specific combinations of moves even deal extra damage, and we unlock new skills and abilities over time.

    Prizefighters 2 is free and without ads. A $2.99 iAP unlocks the full premium version of the game, which includes the promoter game-mode, more customization options for leagues, and a feature that lets us import/export leagues and fighters created by other players.

    Hero Factory [Game Size: 440 MB] (free)

    Genre: Idle / Incremental / RPG - Offline Playable

    Orientation: Portrait

    Required Attention: Little (idle)

    tl;dr review:

    Hero Factory is a toony idle incremental game where we build factory assembly lines that continuously produce heroes to defeat endless waves of enemies and raid bosses.

    All heroes automatically fight enemies, but to deal with the increasingly more powerful monsters, we need to also grow stronger by upgrading each hero's assembly line and unlocking or upgrading gear for each hero. Upgrading the assembly lines requires gold, which we gain from killing monsters, whereas gear is upgraded using enchantment stones that we get one of every 90 seconds. The game is almost exclusively PvE, but optional AI PvP against other player's heroes provides additional rewards.

    When progress eventually slows to a halt, we can go on vacation to reset our assembly lines and earn medals used to buy permanent power-ups that allow us to progress faster the next time. Thankfully, we get to keep our equipment and abilities when resetting.

    Although Hero Factory isn't as deep as some idle games, the art style and monster designs are humorous, and progression is nicely paced.

    Hero Factory monetizes through iAPs for loot boxes with gear, a premium currency that we also get plenty of for free, a $5.99 Season Pass for the AI PvP, and a few other items that let us progress faster. There is an incredibly large amount of "opportunities" to watch incentivized ads in Hero Factory, which can thankfully all be removed through a one-time $16.99 iAP. Although expensive, this is a great option for those who end up falling in love with the game.

    It's a really weak tablet and it could barely even play minecraft, so I just want too know what game doesn't require much power but has loads of content. Games I like are simulation and action and gatcha games, also games like dead cells. Any of these will be helpful.

    Ipega 9083s impressions.

    Got this controller yesterday, £30 from Amazon. I am using it with Samsung galaxy Tab A7, it's 10 inch.

    Controller works out of the box, detected fine. Emulators works perfectly. Playing Diablo 1 is amazing. On Android games, works fine too. Only thing, it's not detected by Exiled Kingdoms and Titan Quest, I am not sure is that have something to do with the support for the specific controller.

    Xbox remote works fine to the extent. It works very good for games like Divinity, Xcom etc. However, when it comes to fine aiming (Call of duty etc.) that is where this controller lacks. It's just isn't precise and accurate enough. Above doesn't bothers me much because I play RPG 90% of the time. On every other type of games (Divinity 2, Resident evil, Mafia) controller works fine. It's just not for twitch shooters where reflex counts.

    Overall, good value for money, I bought this with Diablo 2 remastered remote play on my tablet in mind and I think it will do just fine.

    Anyone know how to get it back? I went through the tutorial again and then tried to sign into XBL and it just goes black screen. Maybe this is the point I separate with my addiction to playing this piece of shit so much.

    Online games that are designed around dynamic player interactions?

    Not just online games with social elements. I kind of want a game where the entire pull of it is dynamic interactions with players, making friends and enemies and being forced to work together etc. An active chat is a must.

    I guess those tribalwars-esque city builder strategy games with large world maps of towns are what comes closest to this, but they're all SO pay to win and I can't find the motivation in me to start one of those out again.

    So... Any other suggestions?
