What's the best Browser for an Android TV?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 02:53 AM PST

As the title reads, what is the BEST browser for an Android TV?. I am looking for a browser that supports HTML5 playback. I tried Puffin TV but we all know its awful. Tried TV Bro, but whenever I try to play some video or the other, this comes up " MEDIA_ERR_DECODE ".

So yeah, what browser should I use?

    Something odd with my hisense

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 07:04 AM PST

I have a hisense h8g, my base ps4 does 12bits of color (obvious banding) at 1080p hdr, my ps4 pro does 8bits color at 4k, is it a hdmi cable issue? I only have high speed (10gbs) ones. Also, since we got a stimulus, should I sell it and buy a Sony x900h? I originally got it for hdr gaming (brightest tv in my area)

CCwGTV / Sabrina: Try your setup before buying AC adapters! All this works without it

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 06:44 AM PST

I set up my Chromecast with GoogleTV with following stuff:

    • The USB + LAN Hub everybody seems to recommend ("VEMONT USB C Hub,5-in-1 Type C Multiport Adapter with 3 Ports USB 3.0,RJ45 Gigabit-Ethernet 1000Mbps,100W Power Delivery" on Amazon)
    • Old Logitech Webcam
    • Ethernet/LAN cable to the Router
    • 128 GB USB Thumb drive (128 GB Verbatim 49808 blau/schwarz USB 3.0, formatted by CCwGTV as internal Storage)
    • Occasionally 2 bluetooth game pads (RetroBit SN30+ and Microsoft XBox One Controller)
    • 2 bluetooth remotes (one that came with the device and a Logitech Hub)
    • Logitech K400 Plus Keyboard through its 2,4 Ghz USB unifying receiver

I also bought a 60W Power Delivery USB AC adapter, but it's not necessary, so I don't use it!

ll of the above works with the original plug without problems as far as I can see.

So I hope this experience helps some.

Best Airplay app to airplay Apple TV from iphone?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 07:32 AM PST

I'm testing Apple TV on my iphone and would like to cast/airplay it to my Philips Android tv 75PUS8303. I tried a couple of apps and while they do airplay content from my photo library, they do not airplay Apple TV content. Anyone any experience? I dont mind paying for an app, but that has to work flawlessly.

    Thanks

    Learning about audio pass through

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 09:07 PM PST

Jetstream 4k Just got a new tv, vizio p series 2020 version.

I have a lg 2.1 sound bar connected via optical

On my last tv I would max the sound bar volume and then control the volume through the Android tv.

On the vizio this method has issues with some apps.

Plex: works fine if I disable audio pass through

Youtube: works fine no settings changed

Prime video and Netflix: if the Android tv is set to anything besides mute, the volume is maxed out from the speakers and I have to use the lg remote to control volume

Should I be looking at a tv or Android setting to fix this? Is there a way to disable audio pass through on all apps like I can with Plex

    Mi Box and HDR question

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 12:45 AM PST

Hello I have a budget 4kTV and HDR on the Netflix app looks awful especially on certain shows like Witcher and The Crown. Unfortunately there's no option in Netflix to turn off HDR. Neither does the TV for in-built apps.

Does the Mi Box give an option to force HDR off on apps like Netflix or for the output in general?

Mi TV Stick no remote desktop?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:16 AM PST

So I've got a gift for my parents, Mi TV Stick which works flawlessly, except that time to time I would like to connect and show/update some apps/channels for them.
I've tried many all available desktop options with no success, TeamViewer QuickSupport(side-loaded Universal addon) or AnyDesk, unfortunately, none of them correctly transmits the commands and I am unable to access any app from the main screen, except that both allow me to go through system settings if I see an app/system options ribbon available.

I have activated overlay and enabled them in accessibility settings, no luck.

Is there a workaround or maybe someone could suggest a budget alternative that will work with remote desktop?

    Thank you

TCL Android TV Remote Compatibility request/question

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 12:53 PM PST

Hello everybody! I'm here to ask if anyone would mind testing a recent TCL Android TV with a Chromecast w/ Google TV remote, specifically because:

The one that shipped with it is kind of ugly in my opinion, and I tried to Bluetooth connect a Fire TV voice remote and it had a couple notable issues: mainly with Google Assistant, it wouldn't work and asked me to 'pair' the Fire TV remote to use voice controls (in a way different than with Bluetooth, a button combo hardcoded with the stock remote). Therefore, before I buy a third party remote (I have my eyes set on the 'replacement' CCWGTV remote on the Google Store, it's glorious), I want to make sure all the functions work alright, without the errors I faced with the Fire TV remote.

    Thank you!

I bought Tenet and it started playing in Russian on my Chromecast

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 01:06 AM PST

I set all settings to English but the still were speaking in Russian. I downloaded the "play movies" app on my iPhone and streamed the movie from there as the app connected to my Chromecast. The movie then started playing in English. I saw some other people have this issue. Any ideas as to why people are experiencing this?

    Prime video profiles

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 08:52 AM PST

Hi, I recently bought two hisense android TVs and when I open prime I don't have the choice to change profiles. I find this really weird since when I go to the google play store and click on prime I can see a picture of different profiles in the "app screenshot" section so I know the app supports it. I tried deleting, reinstalling and updating the app and still nothing. Is there another way I could fix this?

I bought a Sony Bravia tv from the official sony store in China, it has none of the gapps, what do I do?. Can I install different software on the TV that's not the Chinese one? Can I just download and install APK and there is an app I want that I am not sure that is on apkpure or other sites so can I just download the APK of the Google Play services and Play Store??

AndroidTV device that does not need a Google Account?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 01:04 PM PST

Basically just what the title says. Had an NVidia Shield and loved it, but dont like that it requires you to sign in to Google to use it. Are there any Android TV devices that do not require you to use a Google account? I was mainly looking at either the Tivo Stream 4K or the NVidia Shield again.
