Is there any way to bypass "battery too low to use flash"?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 03:24 AM PST

Title, whenever I try to use flash with 15% battery or lower I get "battery too low to use flash" This is so stupid. Even at 15% flash doesn't use much power at all. If the only way to bypass it is to root then I'll root my phone

Reposting because I asked this a month ago and got no response.

Probably a stupid question, but please help

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 08:21 AM PST

Hey! So this is probably a dumb question but I just wanted to confirm...

Is it safe to allow notification access to a launcher so it can display notification dots? The launcher is the Poco Launcher 2 by Xiaomi.

    Thanks :)

Is there a place to purchase US Google Play store credit/cards with a non-uS credit card?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:37 AM PST

Hello, my question is just as the title says. I have a new US based Google account but have to yet make a US bank account/card. I want to make an in-app purchase but can't use my old cards in the US. Is there a legal, international online shop or provider that sells US Google Play cards but allows the usage of non-US credit cards to purchase them?

Any way to put a security pin (like a number code) on individual apps on Android? Like a way without using outside apps?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:34 AM PST

And if there is no way to do it without an outside app, which app do u recommend highly?

    Any response is much appreciated.

How can I get an app notification to play no matter what?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:24 AM PST

The short summary is that I'm wondering if there's a way to make a particular app on a Pixel 3 XL on Android 11 make noise for notifications no matter what (ignore any kind of DnD, anything).

The long summary is my dad has Parkinson's and needs to take his meds consistently throughout the day, as close to on time as possible, to remain safe and functionl. I'm an iPhone user so I'm out of my depth, but we're currently using the "Medisafe" app for med reminders (and so it notifies me when he misses doses), which works fine until it stops making noise.

I came over today to find it not making sound because it was on Do Not Disturb. In the DnD settings under "what can interrupt do not disturb" the Medisafe app is listed as allowing "All notifications". My assumption was that that would still allow notifications through, but maybe I'm mistaken?

My solution might not be correct, but basically my overarching goal here is that I want the loudest, most annoying notification sound I can get, that can't be accidentally turned off (he's not sure if he turns DnD on and off, and with the shaking it's possible he does it accidentally). He doesn't leave the house so I'm not worried about disturbing anyone, and falling behind on meds means he's not functional and might lose his independence. I want them annoying, as insistent as possible, and I don't want it to give up until somebody acknowledges it.

We're working on solutions that don't require his phone, but he always has his phone on him so I'm hoping to start here.

Please feel free to answer as if I have no idea what I'm doing, because I feel lost in the settings menu with all the options and I don't know how to use his phone. Ideally I'd like to avoid any jailbreaking or anything that would dramatically alter how his phone works unless I'm desperate.

And also if anybody has any recommendations for helping make an Android phone more accessible for someone with Parkinson's (shaking means things can be hard to tap accurately) I would love to hear it - I want him to have good quality of life for as long as possible, and being able to use his phone seems to help him cope with not being able to do much anymore.

Also thank you for listening, this is 85% technical help and 15% therapy post.

    Notification sounds

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:05 AM PST

Is there a way to individualize notification sounds on the galaxy 10? I feel like that used to be a thing with the galaxy. Now when I check the settings of a couple apps there is no sound setting and I have to pick one notification sounds for literally everything. Is this the case?

Need a way to automatically change the left-right sound balance for different headphones

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 11:02 AM PST

One of my wireless earbuds isn't as loud as the other, and I need to change the left-right balance in order to listen to music or podcasts comfortably. The problem is I have to change it back every time when I want to listen to other headphones or speakers. I'm using an S9 on android 10

Is there an app or some way that I can automatically change the left-right sound balance when my headphones connect? Thanks.

I would be really appreciated if anyone could help me with this issue, i have a lot of data that I'd want to keep.

Some apps are no longer responding on my phone and the others are slowing down quite a bit. Im on a note 9 which i have had for about 10 months

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 10:44 AM PST

My storage isn't full, and i have tried clearing the cache/re installing the problamatic apps but it seems this is a device issue not the apps.

The apps dont open and it says not responding after a while. Sometimes youtube opens however when i click a video only the sound plays and the screen is just the loading icon. The audio can then not be stopped by exiting or closing the app and can only be stopped after restarting my phone.

The apps that mostly dont work are messenger, youtube, contacts and chrome.

Anybody know how to fix this?

I am thinking about rooting my phone, and i am not sure about if anything will happen. [SERIOUS]

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 10:30 AM PST

(I use a GM5 Plus with Android 8.00 on it)

When i was checking out this subreddit last week, whenever i came across a post about rooting, the comments section was like:

Some people: Unless you install a virus or something you should be fine

Others: DONT ROOT IF YOU DIDNT INVENT ANDROID YOUR PHONE WILL GET HARD BRICKED DONT DO IT DONT DONT DONT DONT YOU WILL BRICK IT

And i just can't find the proper answer.

If i do root i will just use it to modify games and use AdAway, that's it. I am not going to install custom Operating Systems, i will not change the system files or anything. I am a not that tech-savvy, i am not on the modifying the whole device kinda side, i just want to modify apps and stuff.

I have heard about there being a chance (1% or something) when you root your phone that it will get automatically bricked no matter what. Is that real? If it is, i probably won't be doing this because i can't afford a new phone and i just know that it will happen to me.

If for my intention i most likely won't brick my phone, how should i root and what are some trusted sources for tutorials/instructions/apps that lets you root?

I am planning on using Kingroot and is it safe? I have no experience with rooting and the idea of just clicking a button and boom your phone is rooted sounds kinda off. If i shouldn't be using Kingroot how should i do it? Also, after the (hopefully working) rooting proccess, will the SuperSU app will be Chinese? I have heard about it but.

Can i unroot my phone? If Kingroot acutally works i heard that you can also just click a button to unroot the phone.

    Please help.

(Help) Huawei MediaPad T3 LTE (AGS-L09)

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:41 AM PST

Hey android guys and android galz! First of all Happy New Year! :)

    And now the question:

I have this tablet for like 2 days now. I know it is not the top of the line but I'm happy with the performance considering this one is a budget-friendly alternative.

My problem is that it has a locked bootloader so I cant do a thing to it beyond "regular" usage.

Tried DC Unlocker and it does not work because my security patch is from September 1 2020.

Is there any other way to unlock it that does not involve spending 10-60 bucks on a service that Huawei offered few years back freely?

Gmail app doesn't seem to stay synced on my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. How do I fix this?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 09:20 AM PST

So I got this phone just over a month ago and I've turned on the auto sync for Gmail, both on WiFi and on data. Yet it'll work for a day and then it just stops syncing. I'll have to actually open the app to see if I have any new emails because it won't notify me. I've tried every solution I've found on google, turning the phone off and on again, deleting and reinstalling the app, resetting the settings. Nothing works.

Has anyone else had this issue? I'm getting tired of not being notified when I receive new emails. This is the only app I have this problem with.

So it's 100% impossible to install Custom Recovery software without Root and without USB debugging?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 08:22 AM PST

I've been running around the houses for about 2 days.. here is a breakdown of my situation:

Need a phone to use the Amazon Flex app for my work.

My Google Pixel 3a display busted.. need to hang on till the 31st of March 2021 until I can get a free upgrade until then I assumed I can use my old phone, a Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) (sm-j320fn). It has a busted USB port but I got around that issue before by having 2 batteries which I can charge using a universal external battery charger and alternate them.

Find out my old phone cant install the flex app, it is only Android version 5.1.1. and the Amazon Flex app needs Android 6.0 or higher

Try to look into research the Android version to 6.0 through custom roms on the xda site.

Find out I need a custom recovery like TWRP as the default recovery checks permissions for everything.

Find out installing custom recovery software needs the device to be rooted. But good news is that you can root without a PC! To do this you just need custom recovery software! Simple!

Downloaded magisk, rom manager, twrp manager etc but seems that without connecting to a PC, or the phone already being rooted there is just no way to update the android version.. I have been going around in circles like this playing a hellish game of whack a mole only to meet a dead end longer than I care to admit.

I've tried pretty much all of those "1 Click Root without PC" apks (like Kingroot iRoot etc) with no joy.

If someone can confirm that my situation is 100% unresolvable (without getting the USB port of my phone fixed) then it will put me out of my misery.

My Redmi 3 "system data" is taking up 20 GB of memory and I'M. GOING. CRAZY.

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 04:35 AM PST

This is my dad's phone and he keeps coming to me to ask what does he have to do when he gets the message that tells him to free up some storage in order to update his apps. I've done everything I thought of doing such as freeing up as much space as possible, installing lite apps (such as Facebook lite), resetting the phone via a factory reset but the problem just keeps coming back after some time. "Misc" files are taking up to 21 GB of space and with the app called DiskUsage tells me 20 of them belong to the system data. Is there anything I can do or should I just throw this phone out of the window? This is frustrating me so much you have no idea. Thank you in advance.

    DND turning off atomatically

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 08:06 AM PST

Hey all, I'm hoping someone can help. I just got the Pixel 5 a couple days ago. First thing I did was update the OS and all the software. Ten I went through all the settings to learn them and set them up. So I get to DND and as usual delete the profiles that came with the phone and created a new one. It's set to turn on at 23:00 and off at 07:00. No alarms are set to interrupt it.

Because it's New Year's I was up late and I notice that around 00:30 that DND has turned itself off. I didn't change any of my sound profiles or play with any volumes.

This happened on my LG G6 and I ended up factory resetting it but I'm not that keen on doing that again with this new phone. Any help is appreciated.

    Change randomised MAC Android 11

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 07:31 AM PST

My android version is 11 (OnePlus 8T). And as you know there is an option to randomise the MAC address. But is there a possibility to change the randomised MAC address. Even if I forget the WIFI network and restart the device the randomised MAC address remains unique for each WIFI network.

The question is: is there a possibility (even if by ADB) to shuffle the randomised MAC manually or every time I connect to the network. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if i have a virus or not.

    Posted: 31 Dec 2020 05:42 PM PST

So i was on an adult website and i accidentally clicked on an ad while trying to close it and my phone( Samsung Galaxy A51 if that's important) restarted. I was then worried if i could have a virus, i went on and installed AVG Antivirus and Mc Afee and scanned my phone. I also used the device care on my phone and all of them say that there are no problems. I am still worried because my phone sometimes hangs but it's nothing bad really. And one wierd thing that happend was that when i first started Mc Afee my screen got darker and was stuck for like a second. Also when i turn my phone off and then on it gets stuck a little but again nothing really bad. So my question is is there anyhing else i can do because i'm still unsure about this. And also i used the Safe Mode but i couldn't find any suspicious apps.

Is there a way to hot-swap between home screens?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 06:52 AM PST

r/androidthemes has so much cool stuff, but the idea of going through and reworking all the icon packs, folders, widgets and stuff so often, especially when a lot of them cost money, puts me off the idea of changing anything. Is there a way to save presets of your home screen that you can swap between? I use the Nova launcher, if that mashes any difference

How can I ensure my battery doesn't drain so much overnight?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 06:52 AM PST

    Huawei P10, Cricket Wireless.

I don't leave my phone on the charger overnight, and it's usually above 95% by the time I go to bed. About half of the time, when I wake up in the morning, my phone will have dropped to 75% or 70% over the course of 7-8 hours, even though it's been idle the whole time. When I check the battery usage history, I can never seem to find anything that would be causing that much battery drain. I've been closing all my apps habitually every night before going to bed, too.

It's an older phone (coming up on 4 years, but I've only had it for 3) so maybe the battery just isn't keeping up these days... but I'm not so sure about that, since the overnight battery drain only happens 50% of the time rather than all the time.

    Thanks for any help!

Phone reboots when at high volume?

    Posted: 01 Jan 2021 02:35 AM PST

I have a redmi note 7 with pixel experience when all of this happened. I was using youtube and turned up the volume due to low decibels on a video when it suddenly died out. The battery is a at 80 though. At this point I don't know what's the cause of the rebooting so I tried to open other things. I also adjusted the brightness at max, opened location, bluetooth, flashlight and then boom. Same thing happened, it rebooted. After about 3 reboots, the battery went to 20. I let it drain then charge it to 100 recalibrate the battery. Nope, the issue is still there. I also tried flashing lineage os, resurrection remix, even went back to stock miui and nope still dying. I am currently on Lineage os 17.1. The only cure for now is to use the phone while plugged in, or use the phone with lowered brightness and minimum volume. Anyone here knows what's happening to my phone? A help would be greatly appreciated!
