| ViewModel has reference to Activity in one of Google's code lab. Posted: 17 Jan 2021 03:10 AM PST Almost all docs on Android documentation recommends that ViewModel should not have reference to the view of any sort that includes activity but this code lab takes the reference of activity in one of it's a method. Am I missing the point or is this wrong? https://developer.android.com/codelabs/play-billing-scalable-kotlin#4 Look at the makePurchase method. [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 16 Jan 2021 01:28 PM PST Hey, after a long 7 years story in the dark, I want to share with you CondensationDB that I believe has a huge potential for ensuring data privacy and for protecting digital rights. What is Condensation? In simple other words: a fully secured database that doesn't trust the cloud as the data is produced on the user's device and distributed completely freely. And it proposes a simple interface for developers to build anything they want. What you can build with
A bit of history Back in 2013, I came to my computer science teacher Thomas to develop a chatting application for scheduling appointments. Very soon came the question of privacy and so we decided to develop our own database system (yes that's a totally crazy decision). From there, after many iterations alongside our studies, we got a stable version which is in prod with our app Twelve that you can download. How you can help Dig deeper and make your own opinion (We have a lot of material in the docs and on the website). Now we are in the process of packaging it and finishing the documentation. We invest a lot of time to prepare demos and tutorials and so I welcome you to share your opinion about the project and to propose your contribution to make it a success. The Java version of the code is published on our GitHub but we are still preparing all the related demos and guidelines, so be kind and patient. Thanks a lot for your time. And if you star us on GitHub I will love you forever :) [link] [comments]

| Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:18 AM PST In old Google Play console, if you only want to A/B test on 1 screenshots out of 16 screenshots, it enables you to just upload just 1 new screenshot, in the new variation. But, for the new Google Play console, it requires you to upload all the same 15 screenshots again, even though variation A is same as variation B, with only 1 screenshot difference Unfortunately, we do not keep the screenshots of original variation, and it seems there is no way to download it :-( [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 17 Jan 2021 03:15 AM PST Hi all. I'm a beginner CS student (taken intro programming and a Java I course). I want to learn to build an Android app. Would you recommend the Big Nerd Ranch book or just going through all the modules on developer.android.com? [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 17 Jan 2021 03:08 AM PST (not sure if this is okay with the rules but I'll try) Since Friday I have had several problems with the play console, I cannot update the rollout percentage and or release a new version. I can open the page but the links and buttons do nothing. Have tried the same with my phone and have the same result. Anyone else experiencing this? [link] [comments] | ||

| How to Evaluate and Determine the Value of Mobile App Posted: 17 Jan 2021 05:28 AM PST I want to design an online tool. If someone uploads his app, the tool will evaluate the value of the app for the current time and future. How can I proceed to design an algorithm? [link] [comments] | ||
| About to launch app, question about using Admob Posted: 16 Jan 2021 03:47 PM PST Hey, so I plan to add ads in my app on launch. Currently I have over 100,000 downloads in Beta and I ran ads via Admob for a month as a test. These are the numbers (image below), the total seems low for the number of impressions but I have no idea since this is all new to me. I'm currently only using banners which show up on the bottom of most pages. My question is, after Googling around it seems Mopub is a better option for ads but also maybe there is something more I need to be doing, maybe only running ads for a month is not enough? Any help is appreciated thanks! Earnings: https://i.imgur.com/aTRL29t.jpg [link] [comments] | ||

| Reading files from another apps Posted: 16 Jan 2021 05:33 PM PST Hi guys, what would be the best way to read files from another app in the era of Android R? The app that would read the files would be my launcher and they would be read from theme app installed separately. I would need access to file that describes what each file represents and to files given in that list (wallpapers, icons, fonts maybe...) [link] [comments] | ||

| Learn android development sustainably Posted: 16 Jan 2021 11:42 AM PST I have tried to learn android development about a year or two ago and since forgotten most of what I learnt. My experience learning native android development has been - doing tutorials and trying to implement assignments by copying the tutorial code into the assignments. If I had to do something that is different that didn't have a tutorial online I got stuck and panicked. Now I have to build a native android app as part of my thesis. I really want to learn native Android development sustainably with good practices that I can rely on when I meet a task/requirement that I haven't done before. These are examples of things that the app I need to build should be able to do. - Navigate/Changing screens( pagination/stack) I would appreciate any pointers on good tutorials to learn android development as well as pointers generally on the learning difficulties I have had in the past mentioned above My emphasis is being able to understand these things and becoming capable of using the android documentation in a way that is sustainable i.e when I have new obstacles I can rely on the documentation instead of being lost if no one has a youtube tutorial to do that specific thing I am stuck on. | I want feedback on my Android game but I can't log into GitHub from Android Studio. Posted: 16 Jan 2021 06:59 PM PST It plays a battleship type game very well, but my UI needs a lot of work. It's my very first game for Android. As soon as I get this sorted out I'll post it. In the meantime, here's the error [link] [comments] | ||

| Posted: 16 Jan 2021 11:58 AM PST Hi there! I'm building a fitness app currently. I want to know what the community thinks of the various APIs. Google Fit API
Samusng SDK
Hardware API
I'm looking to activity and ambient tracking. I want to track things like steps in the day and if possible HR, and when the user is recording a workout, log more data. Does anyone have any thoughts on how best to do this? [link] [comments]
| How long are reviews for new apps taking at the moment? Posted: 16 Jan 2021 11:30 AM PST This is the first app I've published since the reviews process started. So far we're at 8 days since submitting the build. There is a message that says:
But does 8 or more days seem typical? [link] [comments] |
