VPN independent kill switch / firewall app

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 02:31 AM PST

    Hey Guys,

is there an independent app that kills my connection when I'm not connected to the my VPN provider anymore? I know there are a couple of vendors which have this build in in their service. I like my current VPN Provider (Windscribe) but there is no kill switch option in their app.

Is the 4k upscaling a "killer feature" for the Shield TV?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 07:41 PM PST

I currently have a Fire TV Stick 4k and a Chromecast Ultra. The Chromecast Ultra came with my Stadia setup and that's all I really use it for (apart from the occasions where I have issues with my Fire TV Stick). I'd like to get and Android TV device to replace both devices for when Stadia is supported.

I was going to pick up the Chromecast with Google TV for free-ish with the Netflix deal, but I saw that the Shield TV has "AI Upscaling" to 4k. Is it a feature that makes the Shield worth the cost? I have a few streaming services that I'm not going to pay for upgrading to 4k.

I want a tV box for torrenting 4k movies into a hard drive and then playing those movies with VLC player. With occasional Netflix and YouTube watching. Would a Mi Box be enough or would I need to go for a Shield? Also, is it a good time to buy these products?

    Posted: 11 Dec 2020 02:58 AM PST

I ask if it's a good time to buy them, because I'm seeing they haven't updated their processors in a few years and I wouldn't want to buy one now only for it to be replaced by a new version in a few months or a year.

I also would like to be able to connect both a BT keyboard and hard drive, the Shield Pro has two USB ports, whereas the Mi Box only has one. But I suppose I could buy a USB hub for the Mi Box.

    Any thoughts?

Did Google remove Duo temporarily from the Android TV Play Store?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 07:26 PM PST

It seems that Duo was removed temporarily from the Android TV Play Store due to the issue with many webcams' microphones not working.

The discussion has been heated at the "Issue Tracker" website where many users have reported the same problem with their webcams.

In the Play Store of my Ematic Jetstream it stopped showing up.

    Could you check yours?

Xiaomi Mi Box S Hulu Stuttering Issue. Have tried everything!

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 01:19 PM PST

Hey guys. When watching Hulu on my Mi Box S every few minute the screen will freeze. The media continues playing, you can still hear the audio, but the picture freezes for about 15-20 seconds and then refreshed back to where it should be. It's very distracting cause it always seems to happen right when something good is happening during a show!

I have tried: Uninstalling Hulu Factory Reset Mi Box S Clear Hulu Cache & Data Rebooting Mi Box S

It doesn't seem to happen in Netflix and Disney+ because I mainly watch Hulu but I can report back. I know streaming local content via VLC I have no freezing picture issues.

    VPN Options (Free preferred)

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 06:14 PM PST

Hey guys, just looking for recommendations for an android TV VPN, preferably free.

I know ExpressVPN and NordVPN are great, but I wouldn't want to pay 25AUD each month if i can help it.

I have tried HolaVPN but it's very patchy (it says its connected but it hasn't). Any recommendations? I'm okay with being bound by data restrictions with a free account

    Insufficient storage space error

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 05:25 PM PST

I bought a USB stick for my android TV, I formatted it to internal storage and did MOVE everything to new USB. The USB is 30gb, now there are 28 gb left. Android TV internal storage has 1.9 gb left with 4.1 gb in total. But I can't install apps after having the external storage added. It keeps saying I don't have enough space to install it.

Can someone please help with my HTZ9F and connecting it to Sony X900F

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 08:59 AM PST

Hey guys so I recently got the HTZ9F and I was setting it up yesterday . I have the hdmi that comes with the set hooked up correctly . It is turned on and when I do the testing in the HTZ9F set up settings to see if they all are working it plays the audio for the sound bar , subwoofer, and the two rear speakers I purchased separately .

For some reason the system is not connecting properly to my tv. I changed the audio in settings to tv speakers to surround sound . With the new update to X900F alot of settings is now gone. When I raise the volume on my regular tv controller it doesn't show the volume raise on sound bar . Just shows raising from tv internally. And when I raise volume on HTZ9F controller it shows it raising on the sound bar. There seems to be a complete disconnect here and not sure what settings I need to apply or what I'm doing wrong that the HTZ9F isn't connecting and playing with the tv. Please help if anyone can much appreciated !

What you find best about Android TV system?

    Posted: 10 Dec 2020 12:45 PM PST

So i recently bought android tv box and I am little disapointed. Yes, there is ton of apps and I can even sideload all android apps but I can't even appreciate it. What i need on my tv is Youtube, Netflix, Twitch and some local network browser (i also used web video caster for other web streamings). All these things were fulfilled by my older samsung television. Android tv makes it little better but i feel like i expected more. Android TV system for me feels like very truncated and simplified version of Android and i actually expected it to be richer. Can you guys tell me some of things that you love on Android TV compared to systems for example from LG or Samsung?
