Posted: 21 Dec 2020 05:19 AM PST This happens on various apps so I don't think it is a problem with the apps. It happened on my Pixel 2 and now my Galaxy s20 FE. Let's say I am looking at a single picture in Google Photos and I press back to return to the whole gallery. I will actually get sent back to my launcher. Or if I am reading comments on Reddit and want to return to the feed. I press back and it sends me to my launcher. It doesn't clear the app, so I can use the app switcher get right back to where I was. Pressing the back button does then bring me back to the correct previous page on the second attempt. When I search online the only other posts I see are on sites like GitHub and people asking about developing their own apps. Do other people have his problem or has anyone found a fix? Thank you. Why does the Galaxy Store needs Contacts permission? Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:07 AM PST Did anyone notice that the Galaxy Store requires permission to Contacts in order to work? Here is a picture when I try to deny permission 🤔🤔 link [link] [comments] |
Stuck on TWRP boot screen after flashing LineageOS Posted: 21 Dec 2020 05:40 AM PST Hello everyone, I just flashed LineageOS on my pocophone f1 (clean install), pressed the reboot system button at the end of the install and it rebooted to TWRP. Same when I force reboot (press power button for 10s). And now it's stuck on the TWRP boot screen, I don't have access to the TWRP menu and options. Also, I can reboot to fastboot but when I plug the phone in to the computer I have a message saying 'press any key to shutdown' and when I do so the phone reboots to TWRP again. I flashed roms many times, I don't know what could have went wrong... Any idea ? [link] [comments] |
Samsung A51, texts won't download Posted: 21 Dec 2020 12:06 PM PST I have looked at a lot of fixes for this problem, and nothing has worked. Most times, when someone picture texts me or when someone in a group text messages me, the text will refuse to download. If I am lucky, the messages might appear shortly after I restart my phone. I have also tried disabling the auto retrieve function for downloads, clearing out my cache, and messing with the message settings every way I know how. Who has a real fix for this issue? My Google Chrome app randomly opens tabs on its own Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:59 AM PST The tabs always contain either local news or shitty ads, or it's local news which then redirect to spam. It happens once every few hours. sometimes I unlock my phone in the morning to find 2-3 of those tabs open. I've tried reinstalling the app and it didn't help. There's no unnamed app in my apps list in the settings, and the "most recent" tab shows nothing peculiar. I've run several virus scans that came up negative. [link] [comments] |
Factory Reset Only Sort Of Worked Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:03 PM PST Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone here has any input about something peculiar that happened to me today. I've been having glitchy problems with a few of my regular apps on my phone (a Moto G7 Power) and Spotify in particular was just refusing to finish loading playlists and album covers when I'd bring it up all of a sudden earlier this evening, so I decided it was time to back my contacts up and anything else I hadn't already backed up and then do a full factory reset. The factory reset caused the phone to restart a few times and then...all of my old apps were still installed and configured exactly as I left them before the reset, except that all media and all other data besides the app installation files themselves had been wiped. It does seem to have repaired the problem with Spotify loading extremely slowly, and now it's really snappy. I did also somehow, perhaps relatedly, corrupt my supplementary microSD card when I tried to reformat it and the phone froze at 20% progress and got into a reboot loop - I have no idea why. All of my attempts to reformat and uncorrupt the microSD card, both on my phone and by inserting it instead into my android tablet, have resulted in a freeze at 20% formatting progress, followed by an endless reboot sequence that I can only interrupt by holding the power button until I force a shutdown and then rebooting. Anyway, the phone's functioning fine for now, but it definitely didn't perform a factory reset, at least not a full reset. Any ideas why, or advice for next steps? How likely is it that I have malware running on my phone, and that this might be the cause of the app glitches and the half-failed factory reset? Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Reprogram extra physical button Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:49 AM PST My LG G8x has an extra button on the side for google assistant. I don't use it and would love to have it open the flashlight or something like that. Is there any way to do it? [link] [comments] |
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max earphones problem Posted: 21 Dec 2020 05:43 AM PST Whenever i listen to music using the earphones, it suddenly stops giving any sound. This started happening recently. The thing is, it works fine the first time. The music plays as it should, but after a few minutes it just stops. I have to restart the phone to make it work again. I assumed it was the problem with the music player i was using (Player Pro) but i tried a few other players and the problem's still there. I even tried with other earphones. There was no recent updates either. I bought this phone back in September so it's still under warranty. Any help will be highly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Android 10 - Headphone Resume button doesn't work when screen off Posted: 21 Dec 2020 11:27 AM PST I have a Samsung S10e on Android 10 (but this problem started on Android 9 I think). I have a typical set of physical earbuds with pause/resume and volume bumpers (in this case a standard pair of Apple earbuds). When listening to music or podcasts (on any app), I can click the pause/resume button to pause playback, but once I do, after a minute or two, when I click the button again, playback usually doesn't resume, or if it does, it takes a minute. It seems like Android "goes to sleep" in some way that means it's not listening to the signal from the earbuds, or it puts the signal in a queue and wakes up to process it after a minute or so. Turning the screen on allows me to make everything work, but that means I have to fish the phone out of my pocket, which is a hassle. Is there some setting I can change on Android that will force it to remain responsive to these things? TIA [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 10:18 AM PST For the past 6 months I've been doing several things to make my phone experience as dull as possible. I was wondering if there's any way I could set a password to the app menu (the one you get when you swipe up on the home screen). Maybe there's a "anti-procrastination app" that does that? How do I remove the annoying drag to lock icon (Samsung Galaxy S10+) Posted: 21 Dec 2020 08:24 AM PST Everytime i try to play an ar game that annoying thing pops up so I have to remove my phone and drag it and put it back in every 5 minutes. I've looked for a while and can't figure out how to disable it, please help! [link] [comments] |
Live radio drops stream frequently Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:53 AM PST Hello; I frequently listen to my live NPR station through my phone while driving. Both Firefox and Chrome seem to have the same problem which started several months ago. The audio drops to dead air after either 10 minutes or about 1 hour. To get back the audio, I have to reload the page and again it lasts for the same amount of time. (Often when I press play, it plays the cache of the earlier stream; say Morning Edition when it's late afternoon.) Battery saver is on Extended but I never changed this. Not sure if this is a browser problem but the stations themselves have no issue since I turn on the radio and they are broadcasting fine. The NPR One app is good but isn't for live broadcasts. Since it happens with both browsers and different stations, it must be the phone. Could I have conflicting settings that might cause this? Android 8.0.0, LG US998; Chrome 86.0.4240.198, Firefox 82.1.3 …. Thank you [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:34 AM PST Hey everyone, I recently purchased the Motorola Edge Plus in September and it has been somewhat of a good phone to me. I've had a screen issue that has been replaced through warranty and now I'm having flashlight issues (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - I tried clearing camera cache, downloading a 3rd party app, etc and it still works when it feels like it). It's still under warranty until Sept 2021 so it's not the end of the world. Motorola's customer service isn't the greatest either - they want me to be phoneless for nearly 3 weeks as they repair it. That being said, I'm a bit frustrated with how my experience has been with Motorola and I'm thinking of trading it away or selling it to get a Pixel 4 XL, OnePlus 7 Pro or a Samsung S10+ (they're in the same price range). They have better communities and it might be easier to find parts if something goes wrong. Why should or shouldn't I do this? Am I being irrational? I know I'd likely lose 5G capabilities and a few other features depending on the device. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, cheers! [link] [comments] |
Weather Alerts That Cannot be Turned Off Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:11 AM PST This weather alert appears on my phone and has been for almost 24 hours. I have searched around in settings and online and cannot find any way to disable. This is android 11 on a pixel 2 xl. Honestly I appreciate the intent of providing alerts like these but to have it fixed in place and superseding the time is annoying. Also as I live in Canada I hear these same alerts on the weather app, the news, my local sub, the radio, etc. so it seems totally unnecessary. Do any of you know how to eliminate alerts from the home screen? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Android 8 takes excruciatingly long to wake up. Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:06 AM PST Phone is CAT S41. The phone was always fine. This happened suddenly and increasingly over the course of 24 hours. When I try to "wake up" the phone after its screen goes blank, it takes a very long time before beginning to respond. It started with a humble 2 seconds of delay and progressed over the course of a day to 20 seconds, and finally now it doesn't wake up at all, so I have to hold the power button for a while so the phone will shut down and start up again. Note that once the phone has woken up, it goes back to full speed. I booted into recovery mode and flushed the system cache partition. I booted into safe mode. I did a factory reset. Nothing helped. Phone is on Android 8. Everything has been updated. Battery page under settings does not show any outstanding power usage by any app. Got any clue what's going on, please? I'd hate to have to ditch a 400Euro phone I got less than a year ago while I'm financially just getting by. [link] [comments] |
Stupid Ford is messing with my note 20. Posted: 21 Dec 2020 06:09 AM PST Hey guys, I just recently got a Note 20 and so far the phone is great. One issue I have is with my work vehicle. I do a lot of driving for work and often listen to the audio of youtube videos to pass the time. I drive a Ford E350 that just has a 3.5 mm input (the vehicle is a plain jane). And i have to use a USB C to 3.5mm converter to plug my phone in. The problem I'm having is every 5-10 minutes the screen cuts out of anything I'm doing and goes to the dial keypad as if I was trying to call someone. Is there anyways to disable this in android? Its not the cord I tried a different one and it did the same thing and there is no rhyme or reasons when the vehicle does it, but its often. Any help would be great [link] [comments] |
Apps reset when tabbing out for too long Posted: 21 Dec 2020 05:46 AM PST I have the Huawei Mate 20. Since like 2 months whenever I am for example browsing reddit and quickly wanna make a Google search, I switch the tab, get my Google answer and when I go back to reddit it resets to default state, which means I am back to the home page. Now I have to manually find the previous post and comment I was looking at before. This happens with any app, sometimes it takes longer until it resets. This is highly annoying when I see a interesting discussion on social media and have to find it again or if want to access settings of an app and get back to the default homepage because I had to google the settings path. I'm quite sure this must be an android issue since I didn't have this problem few months back, so I guess a version fucked it up. Any solution to this? I have the phone since 1.5 years. Why does my phone play what sounds like Angry Birds music when I open any game? Posted: 20 Dec 2020 08:50 PM PST I have a Galaxy S10 and starting this morning whenever I open any game on my phone the music starts to play and the only way to stop it is to close the app or turn the volume down. Even if the game is muted it will still play, I have to turn down the phone's media volume to mute it. I don't have Angry Birds installed on my device nor have I ever on this device. I've tried restarting my phone multiple timeswhich didn't fix the issue. I have no clue to what is causing this and any help would be greatly appreciated. [link] [comments] |
How to save battery from draining quick? I know brightness and wifi, anything else? Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:36 AM PST |
Posted: 20 Dec 2020 06:50 PM PST So my wife's phone accidentally got factory reset and lost all photos of kids and such. Obviously I wouldn't be asking if she had backed up her phone. I have been looking up to see if we can still retrieve said photos and I've seen a few recovery systems that say they can retrieve deleted photos even from factory reset. Unknowing of if these can really do that does anyone have any experience with any system that can restore at least some photos ? Any advice would be helpful. [link] [comments] |

"System Software Not Authorized by AT&T" Issue, Phone Will Not Start Up & Neither Will Download Mode Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:39 PM PST I am attempting what seems to be a now-bricked Samsung Galaxy S5 from AT&T. At some random point, my phone became stuck in a boot-loop and was displaying the Android Custom screen on startup. It seemed to be functioning fine for the time being, but just this night it displayed this screen again, and now the phone will no longer turn on. My issue begins with the fact that I cannot access the Download Mode. I press all three keys and nothing happens. THe phone screen stays dark no matter what I do. Plugging it in to a charger does nothing. Plugging it into a PC produces the connected and disconnected sounds over and over. I am already furious with both AT&T and my family for being slow on the process of switching over to Verizon. Please help me alleviate my frustration with this by at least allowing me to use the crappy, dying phone once more. [link] [comments] |
Huawei Matepad Pro GMS install. Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:30 PM PST My mother just got me a Huawei Matepad Pro, it's really nice and I liked it a lot, but I really feel like I need GMS, I've seen several YouTube tutorials about how to get them, but I can't get Googlefier to work, I've read that the firmware version I have it's too new for it to work, I've seen another tutorials on how to downgrade it, I need to know if any version of firmware for this specific tablet will work, or do I have to find a specific one? I want to keep it because I liked it and I don't want to seem like an ungrateful prick and trade it back for the money, please help!! [link] [comments] |
Android Messages app responded to robotext on its own on Pixel 4 Posted: 20 Dec 2020 10:20 PM PST This is really weird and has happened multiple times. I get spammy robotexts regularly, and I've noticed that when I get a message that says "respond with [x] to unsubscribe," the standard Android Messaging app will actually respond and send the unsubscribe message without my input. All this is doing is letting the spammer know that there's someone at my number. What's up with that? [link] [comments] |
