Is there any way to run applications designed for newest versions of android on old versions? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 05:33 AM PST I have an old tablet that's running KitKat and I'm wondering if I can make it run apps such as Microsoft teams or Zoom as I need em for skool. [link] [comments] |
Sharing chargers between Android Devices / how does fast charging work? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 12:41 PM PST My old Galaxy A6 has a 5.3V 2a charger, my galaxy tab 7A has a 5V 1.55a charger, and my new Pixel 4a has a 5V 3a charger. In addition, I have like six older 5v 1 a bases from various previous phones. Are any of these interchangeable, and if so, which? I'd think that as long as they're the same voltage it should be fine (and this would explain why my A6 took so long to charge when using my old 5V bases when it was meant to charge at 5.3V). I also have no idea how fast charging works, other than some complaints that certain devices were capable of it but didn't have the proper charger in the box. [link] [comments] |
No Internet Connection On Phone when Controlling Devices via Wi-Fi (Cameras) Posted: 09 Dec 2020 12:39 PM PST Although the phone should be connected to the cellular networks via LTE & 5G, why does the phone take the Wi-Fi connection that may be locked onto a device for remote control exclusively and ignore its cellular connection? Is there anyway around this so that although you may be using your phone to remote control other devices, you can still browse the internet? [link] [comments] |
I'm looking for an adblock with cosmetic filter Posted: 09 Dec 2020 11:48 AM PST So I'm looking for an adblock which doesn't require a vpn and supports cosmetic filtering I don't know if this is even possible I tried adguard and other vpn based adblockers but at some point I don't have internet at all when I keep them constantly on. I currently use adaway but instead of ads you get a gray area where it says couldn't load page which isn't that great either. I'm rooted btw. Examples: [link] [comments] |

No notifications from Messages when using other apps Posted: 09 Dec 2020 10:20 AM PST I am on a Galaxy S9+ (Android version 10) and any time I am using another app such as Netflix, I no longer receive the drop down notifications from Messages. I still receive them if I'm not using any apps and just on my home screen. I've dug through any settings I can think of and the only problem I can think of is from whatever the deleted category is that is shown at the bottom that won't allow me to toggle the notification button. The link for a screenshot is below. [link] [comments] |
New SAME phone SAME OS build, installs old apps and forgets location of all my icons. Posted: 09 Dec 2020 10:01 AM PST Old and new phone is Moto One Hyper Installed user account on new phone and it installed old versions of almost every App/OS everything! It's downloading fresh all the apps as they appeared on old phone, but I have to do a massive update now!?! Has anyone ever had this? Even after apps installed most are old? Once everything seemed to install I moved sim card and SD card from old phone. Installed My backup pro to copy over SMS and home page layout because none of that copied over... Big fail, only texts worked, instant refund. Do I have to manually place every icon? Or is there a simple way? [link] [comments] |
how do I transfer data from my dead phone to the PC? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 09:39 AM PST My Phone is broken but I need the pictures and videos on it, how do I transfer data from my dead phone to the PC? [link] [comments] |

Finding A Tablet Battery On Amazon (US) Posted: 09 Dec 2020 09:09 AM PST My tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (SM-T230NU) When I looked up the specs online I see it says, "Not User Replaceable," but I don't think that means much and I want to replace it on my own. Unless I'm mistaken. Apparently, what's inside my tab is a Li-Polymer, 4000 mAh battery. I've tried to find a battery + tools combo that fits, yet something always seems to not match up. Hopefully someone can give some quick help! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2020 08:44 AM PST So... my previous phone, Samsung A50, has met a tragic end last Sunday and I've already gotten a new one, also Samsung. Now I'm naturally looking to retrieve my data, yet my A50 won't turn on anymore, it just shows the circle with a lightning bolt when I plug it in and doesn't turn on at all - probably a damaged battery. What should I do? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2020 07:35 AM PST I use a Lenovo TB-8504F tablet (Android Oreo, 2GB of RAM) and I just want to know if it's normal that simple image editing of a 2Mpx image and/or a podometer app can cause open background apps (a text editor program and the file explorer) to be reset, plus the Internet browser even with just one empty tab. Checking memory consumption on developers options I don't find why that happens. I comment it because using an old netbook with just 1GB of RAM and running Linux such events never happened, even if the CPU fan could kick in. I also know that mobile OSes must work with fewer resources than non-mobile ones, but damn. [link] [comments] |
How to retain file original timestamp when moving to SD card? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 07:35 AM PST 1) The files I am saving from Reddit are getting saved in Internal storage/Pictures/Reddit folder. I would like these to be saved in SD card in my chosen folder. How can I do this? 2) Also when moving files from Internal storage to SD card is there a way to retain original timestamps? Because I keep my files sorted by date. My device is Redmi note 4 Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2020 07:29 AM PST Hi All! With my gf I am making an Android app. At the moment stuck in finding ways to improve it. It is far from perfect and we have already asked friends, family and colleagues. They provided feedback but we are looking for new input. We only started doing this since Covid happened so creating an App is new to us. I will describe the app. It is basically an app to share audio messages with. It is required to register an account with a username and password. From there on you can choose a profile picture and start recording messages or upload audio messages about anything you like. Currently there is not a restriction on how long an audio message can be. There is also not a format for what it should be. It can be a joke, song, advice or what ever you would like to share. Others can reply with audio messages only. There are a few more features but that might be more important once I know where to post this. So my question is there a place on Reddit where we can ask people to try our App and provide some feedback on where to improve? [link] [comments] |
I have an app that removed from the playstore, can I port the app to another android? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 01:02 AM PST I have an app called yu gi oh prices on my old android phone, but its no longer on the Playstore and I don't know why. Anyway to copy it onto my new android phone? I couldn't find the apk in apk mirror. [link] [comments] |
What happens when you try to use Google Pay with locked phone? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 06:54 AM PST Recently I forgot to unlock my phone before paying and when I unlocked it I couldn't pay anymore. I was able to pay again only when the cashier reset the payment. So now I'm interested in what is the expected behavior when you pay with a locked phone? [link] [comments] |
Is there a way to transfer apps, settings, texts, data, etc., to a phone that is already in use? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 06:13 AM PST Situation: Partner uses one phone for work/personal and just got a new device. Work requires IT to install a separate, secure Google apps experience. I'd rather load all her personal stuff onto the phone AFTER they've done what they need to do to it but I only know how to do the "transfer everything easily with a cable" process when the phone initially boots up. We're going Pixel 3A to Pixel 5. Sorry if not clear, happy to share more detail, thank you! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2020 06:04 AM PST First Issue: With iPhone on Windows I can use iTunes to take a full fidelity backup and restore it on any iPhone. Is there such software for Android? Samsung Has Smart switch, but it doesn't backup everything including user generated data. I tried using FreeFileSync which supports MTP (Media Transfer protocol) but it took 10 hours to backup 9 GB of data, with many error messages. Second Issue: [link] [comments] |
Posted: 09 Dec 2020 05:31 AM PST The "Games" folder in my internal storage currently has no apps in it (they are all on my SD card), but it still says it has 4,4gb of data on it. This is not just a visual bug, because this actually takes up the space. My internal storage is very small, so my phone doesn't function properly because it's filled with this 4,4gb. Anyone knows what this is and how to remove it ( or put it on my SD card)? I really need this space for apps that don't work properly on an SD card. I'm on a Gigaset GS270 with android 8.1.0 [link] [comments] |
Is there any way to disable notifications for Google Services? Posted: 08 Dec 2020 04:37 PM PST I have never used Google in my Samsung A41. I don't have a Google account. I have been happily using my apps. However, at least 3 times a day, I get the annoying "X won't work unless you enable Google Services". Which is clearly a lie since X is working fine. For some Xs, I cannot turn notifications off. Is there any way to tell Google to stand down? It's too annoying. [link] [comments] |
S20 battery draining insanely quickly due to Chrome? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 04:17 AM PST Hi. I am having an issue with my new S20 that I didn't have with my Note 9. My battery is being drained way too quickly by the Chrome app. Here are a few screenshots showing just how much battery Chrome has drained while being open for very little time compared to how much it's using. I've already tried putting the app to sleep and restricting it working in the background. What do I need to do to stop this from happening? [link] [comments] |
Volume popup. Relocate or reduce? Posted: 09 Dec 2020 03:06 AM PST Just got a new LG v50 running Android 10. 90% of my activity is watching YouTube videos. This version of Android has the volume popup on top instead of the side. When a YouTube video is actually playing, the popup covers most of the video for 3 seconds, with the "adjust by app". See Here . Is there any way to reduce, relocate or remove this popup. The popup is smaller when the videos are paused like this. Most all the videos I watch are how-to in nature, so I end up rewinding or pausing every time I adjust the volume. Phone was bought outright so I'm willing to root it. [link] [comments] |
Nexus 7 with no OS installed not detected by adb or fastboot Posted: 08 Dec 2020 06:02 PM PST Hi all, I have a Nexus 7 tablet (2012) that I may have bricked, and despite my best efforts haven't had any luck restoring it. I'm hoping for some help in restoring its functionality, or reassurance that I should take the L and give up. Up until recently it was running stock Android, with the bootloader unlocked and Team Win Recovery Project recovery image installed. I was attempting to install Lineage OS following a certain guide, and planned to wipe the installed version of Android, sideload Lineage OS through ADB, and call it a day. The only problem is that after wiping the system partition, neither 'adb devices' or 'fastboot devices' detect my device, and I've tried 3 different cables and every USB port across 2 computers to rule them out as the issue.
Can my device be saved? Any advice would be greatly appreciated [link] [comments] |
[HELP] Barcode scanner prefix behavior Posted: 09 Dec 2020 02:46 AM PST Hi I've been using barcode scanners connectec to android phones with an OTG cable, with the barcode scanners (Datalogic QD2430) configured with the "TAB" prefix so the first available field is selected before inserting data. Everything was working perfectly in Android 8 but when I updated the smartphones to android 9 the behavior changed, the prefix stopped working as before. On a screen without selected fields a Good read does nothing. I recently acquired an Android 10 device and the problem persists. Did anyone else detect this? Did you solve it? Thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Dec 2020 07:50 PM PST I'm on the OnePlus 8 with the latest Android 11 software. Since I've updated to android 11 I haven't been able to 'parse' apk files. The following is everything I've tried: 1) allow installation from unknown sources 2) hard clearing cache 3) using a file manager/apk installer Would reeaally appreciate any solutions Thanks [link] [comments] |
