| Need a decent midrange TV for watching movies offline Posted: 19 Nov 2020 03:53 AM PST I have a habit of downloading movies/videos, and then watching them later offline. Not a big fan of 4k yet. Most important aspect is that I only care about streaming .mp4 .mkv etc. movies file formats flawlessly like I'm watching it on a cable TV. I don't stream content on Netflix, Plex, Kodi etc. online. I mostly just watch movies on my laptop and phone using players like VLC, MPC, MX player that pretty much fullfill all the needs. Does any TV fullfill my need? I'm not looking for an expensive TV. A midrange TV should do that job since I don't want to stream online content which is what most people need. I only want to watch movies after having them transferred to the TV internal storage. Also, let me know if I'd be needing external boxes like Firestick or something. By far, I think Android TVs are good as they have more features and allow you to install third party .apk files. But since I am planning to use it prolong time so it'll be good if it's durable. I have only had experience with CRT TVs by now so help me out guys. There is a lot of confusion for me while deciding which TV to go for because first: this is my first time buying a smart TV and second: I mostly see reviews and discussions based on stuff like watching online content while my needs are pretty simple and not requiring those things. TL:DR : Decent midrange TV(Android or not) for playing movies offline. Online content watching like Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. is not the priority. [link] [comments] | ||
| Is shield TV actually THAT good? Posted: 18 Nov 2020 06:59 PM PST Hey guys. So, I found awesome deal for 2017 Nvidia Shield (yes, I know 2019 is better because of dolby atmos/vision, however I use none of that and I am not sure if I will use them in near future, and prices in my region are atrocious). And I saw all the words of glory regarding this android box. But I wanted to know if it really is THAT good. I will mostly use ot for streaming content, such as Netflix, HBO, Kodi and Plex. Will everything run smoothly? Has anyone had any stuttering with this device? Note that I am coming from Xiaomi Mi Box S which is already showing it's age and I had it for less than a year. | Picture settings keep resetting? Posted: 19 Nov 2020 05:25 AM PST Just got a Philips 4-series, and every time the tv is off for a significant amount of time the picture settings are reset from "Standard" to "User", which usually turns the settings all the way down and results in black-and-white screen when viewing. Has anyone else had this happen and/or know how to stop this from happening? Also, is there any way to make the tv go to Home on start-up instead of Live-TV? Thanks. [link] [comments] | ||

| Multiple ACTIVE controllers on Chromecast with Google TV...? Posted: 18 Nov 2020 09:06 AM PST Hi all, I've been looking around but can't find a definitive answer. I know that multiple controllers can be connected to the new Chromecast with Google TV but I'm getting mixed results when it comes to actually using more than one. For example, if I wanted to emulate Mario Kart, I have no doubt that I could connect any Bluetooth controller (or wired) and be on my way but what if I wanted to play local co-op? Is it possible for 2 (or more) Bluetooth (or wired) controllers to be connected to the new Chromecast with Google TV AND active at the same time, allowing for local co-op? [link] [comments] | ||
| Posted: 18 Nov 2020 03:21 PM PST With the new chromecast, I know it operates under the Android TV OS. Is there an app or way to use the chromecast and a video camera to use my tv as a large zoom screen or something (I am trying to avoid moving my computer back and forth during large family zoom meetings) [link] [comments] | ||
| AndroidTV network streaming issue Posted: 18 Nov 2020 03:46 PM PST I have a Hisense H8 quantum series 4k TV. I am having huge problems streaming media to the TV through it's default media player. When I first set it up to work with my network I could stream anything from the network. I could even stream a 90GB 4k video file. Then the big files started skipping. I checked my network speed and it is fast. Now I can't get it to stream anything even though it shows the files. This is not a netflix etc type problem. It is a network streaming problem/software problem. My Roku streams every file just fine so it is not the network. Does anyone know what is wrong? Here is a picture of the default AndriodTV app on my television. Thanks https://photos.app.goo.gl/Az8mzBVz8sr1osiL8 Here is a pic of the name of the program [link] [comments] | ||
| Is the overall streaming service integration not working correctly for anyone else? (Google TV) Posted: 18 Nov 2020 02:24 PM PST I've overall really enjoyed my time with the new chromecast, but I seriously am baffled at how half baked all the streaming service integration seems to me. I've signed in with all of my accounts, yet under the continue watching tab Disney+ is the only one that actually shows up, and they're not even correct- I haven't watched The Mandalorian yet it says I'm on Episode 10. Shows from other streaming services are just gone. Additionally, I can't add any netflix originals to my watchlist, something I remember working shortly, and I'm not even sure if they actually appear on my for you page at all. I get recommended lots of things that require services I don't have, like HBO Max and Sling too. I've tried logging out and logging back in, reconnecting my services in the google home app, and restarting the chromecast to no avail. Anyone know what's up, or is this just classic google being google? [link] [comments] |
