VSCO app using 20GB of data in the background.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 05:33 AM PST

    Hi all,

I've just checked my Glasswire app and found that in 1 month, VSCO has uploaded 20gb of data! I have about 10 photos on the app. No subscription or anything else. What could this be? Any help is appreciated. I've now disabled network usage etc.

Am I paranoid or is something malicious happening with my phone?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 12:40 AM PST

I own an LG Android So a few months ago a weird problem began happening on my phone while using chrome. Whenever I went onto a website that had some form of media such as videos, and ad, etc. there was a chance that the screen would glitch out and the page would turn black and show weird white dots with these weird white brackets besides them. Sometimes it would also be static or multicolored static. Every time it goes away if I continue scrolling through the site or visit a new webpage but it freaks me out whenever it happens. I took a screenshot of it happening once and tried reverse image searching it but nothing came up so I deleted the screenshot. Anyways, the reason I'm posting now is because I was just using chrome to google something and I got a notification saying "turned off phone flashlight because application which uses it is open" or something along those lines. (I had my phone flashlight turned on and it randomly turned off). These two things are probably completely unrelated but it sort of freaked me out y'know? Any help would be appreciated.

Samsung Smart Switch doesn't work with Images?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 11:48 AM PST

Just got a brand new Samsung phone (coming from a pixel) and was pretty impressed by how easy it was to migrate over. However, the images seemed to be grayed out for the transfer. Anyone know why? https://i.imgur.com/1hHBWUp.jpg

    Question about facebook stories.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 11:31 AM PST

I went to my gallery on my android phone, and when I clicked to share my photo with someone and have the list pop up with the list of names in my messenger to send it to, one of the options was to add it to my story.

Was that always there? Does clicking it add it to your story instantly or is there some kind of confirmation first? Just worried I accidentally uploaded things I didnt intend to without realizing since its directly under the person I usually send things to.

    Recovering deleted photos?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 11:28 AM PST

I was wondering if there are any good apps or tutorials on how to recover recently deleted photos? I accidentally deleted way more photos than intended, and really want them back! I'll even accept the links to professionals that can do these kind of things.

Sending emojis to iPhone users seems to be hilariously broken

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 07:23 AM PST

I tried to send several emojis on android to iphone users on snapchat (I haven't tested other apps) and the wrong emoji gets sent. I sent this and this is what was received by the other people. Isn't hard to see how this could easily make for an awkward situation lol. Is there anything that can be done about this? Or will I have to never use emoji again?

What's the best way to record audio From my Device? Specifically, voicemails.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 11:05 AM PST

Hi there! I have a few voicemails that I need to save (and would like to save them in higher quality than just playing them on speakerphone and recording that), and they're accessed through my carrier, not saved on the device (there's no Voicemail app, I just have to dial the voicemail number). I found a tutorial that suggested that Audacity could be used to record audio directly from my phone, but it doesn't seem to work. I've connected it with an aux cable but it isn't recognized as a line in device in Audacity (or recognized as an input device by my macbook).

Is there an app I can use to get this setup to work? Or do I need to use USB for this or something? If it helps, I have a Galaxy S8, running Android 9.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I am getting "fail to open recovery cause (no such file or directory)" but both phone and recovery mode works fine

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 11:04 AM PST

I went to the recovery mode and altho it works fine it still says "fail to open recovery cause (no such file or directory) I have tried resetting the phone and flashing the stock firmware again using odin. Still no luck. The phone and recovery still works ok but the error is there. Should I just ignore it or is there actually a solution to this? (I ejected my sdcard when doing the reset).

Retrieving data from a broken Pixel 3a XL

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 10:37 AM PST

Hi Reddit, I dropped my Pixel 3a XL (T-mobile) a few weeks ago. The screen went black but I knew the power was still on since the alarm would go off. I tried connecting the phone to my PC to transfer data, but I realized the computer can't recognize the phone since I can't enter debugging mode without a functioning touch screen.

Fast forward a few days, I think I let the battery die when I left if unplugged (I have my work cell phone so not having my personal phone was not that big a deal for me), and now I suspect I can't unlock the phone without entering the passcode.

In the past few weeks I tried using a few things: DrFone Wondershare to retrieve data from this broken Android, but it looks like that app only supports certain Samsung phones. I also tried using Fonelab and learned that's for iPhones. I tried Android File transfer with my old Mac, but again I can't enter debugging mode on my Pixel so the laptop doesn't recognize the phone.

I think the best option now is to get a replacement screen and see if that works... but I don't want to fork out a few hundred dollars if there's no guarantee that this would work.

All I want are the photos of my wife and kids. I stupidly disabled the automatic Google Photos auto-backup, so I don't have any photos from the last year backed up. What should I do? I'm not tech savvy so I need some guidance. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Ghostly Snapchat Stories icon?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 06:33 AM PST

Hey guys I noticed when I try to share a link from say YouTube I see "snapchat stories" as an option but I don't have snapchat and it doesn't appear in my list of apps in settings. I deleted a few apps hoping it would go away with something new I downloaded but to no avail. Can anyone telle what this is or how to remove? Incase it like steals data or anything? (I should also mention it doesn't appear to have any data usage according to Glasswire - an app I use to check my data usage)

    Pixel 4XL won't stop restarting

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 10:04 AM PST

My 4XL has been restarting constantly since the beginning of the day. I got the phone in June and it has only happened <5 times before. It was okay this morning, only restarting every once in a while but now it restarts when I try to open new apps and it's even having trouble locking. I really do not know what is wrong, if anyone can help that would be amazing.

    Google Messages keeps crashing

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 09:20 AM PST

    Hey everyone,

Within the past week or so, Google Messages has started to be extremely buggy and frequently crashes for me. I'm debating just switching back to Textra, I only keep it because I love the messaging from desktop feature.

Essentially, what happens is when I try to open the app, I simply get a blank screen that is all black (I assume because I use dark mode). Occasionally, I get the notification "Messages is doing work in the background", in which case I always get the black screen. The only solution is to go into settings and "force stop" the app, which temporarily fixes it.

I don't really know what to do next to fix it. I've tried deleting all the data, deleting the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and deleting ALL of my text messages. Still, I end up having this issue multiple times a day.

Is anyone experiencing something similar? My only theory is that a recent update messed something up.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

How do you reset predictive text and autocorrect on Android 9?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 07:57 AM PST

The system has picked up more typos than actual corrections so it's time for a reset, but I can't figure out how to get there.

Search vs Enter key function using Gboard and Microsoft Edge

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 07:29 AM PST

I'm not sure if I accidentally changed a setting somewhere but I can't find any options to correct this issue. Using Microsoft Edge and Gboard. When searching in search box, not url box, pressing enter literally starts a new line of text. If you press it twice in a row it perfoms a search. If you press space after the last word it perfoms a search. I've never had this issue before and it's annoying. Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks.

What is the most practical way to attach two phones together?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 06:27 AM PST

I have a note 8 as my daily driver and I happend to come across a used IPhone 6s Plus that was literally the same size. So I was curious, barring the issues like not being able to connect one of them to the cell network, what would be the best way to attach them?

I used to use high strength locking velcro a few years ago when I attached a Samsung Galaxy s5 and a IPhone 5s. It worked really wall but still blocked the camrea.

I was wondering if that would be the best solution again or you guys/gals have any more suggestions on how I should do it? I'd preferably like to have access to both the note 8 and IPhone 6s plus main cams to use on occasion so detachablity is a must. Unlike this solution lol (kinda my original inspiration though)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hope yall had a great Thanksgiving! 🦃🍗

Tdlr: I want to attach an Iphone 6s plus to a note 8 while still having a way go use the main camera occasionally.

Google App perpetually downloads on WiFi

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 03:00 AM PST

I have a xOaimi redmi 4x and I purchased a wifi device after using mobile connectivity for years. However once connected to the wifi Google downloads God knows what and never stops.

It currently stands just shy of 4gb, I don't know what it's downloading but once in a while offline voice recognition pack English (UK) downloads as well. I've tried solutions I've seen online such as going to voice settings and select do not update voice packs, clearing cache and storage of the downloader, restarting the device several times but to no avail, immediately I connect to wifi it just starts to download but everything is A-OK on mobile network, my device is even warning me of low storage space. Pls help.
