I wonder how Bouncer App's permission reset works.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 08:20 AM PST

If anyone has any idea on how our app can "Open settings of another app and open the permissions tab and turn the permissions off programmatically " I would like to know how it is done.

Bouncer app already does it but I don't have any clue how it is done. SEE VIDEO HOW BOUNCER DOES THIS

Best method for saving across devices?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 04:32 AM PST

Looking to implement the best way to save levels across devices for my simple unity game app. We only save levels locally currently and its standard save where player got up to, other levels are locked until they are unlocked by winning last level.

This is for both iOS and Android. I've seen 3 methods, I currently have firebase integrated and saw they offer this option also.

    https://firebase.google.com/docs/database/unity/save-data [FIREBASE]

    https://developers.google.com/games/services/common/concepts/savedgames [ANDROID]

    https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/documentation/NetworkingInternet/Conceptual/GameKit_Guide/SavedGames/SavedGames.html [IOS]

I'm trying to weigh the pros/cons to which method I use. With firebase it means it only needs to be configured once for both device types whereas if I do it natively it would be a bit more work? But then what about costs, would it be more better to rely on google/apple cloud to store compared to firebase? Its a relatively small simple game so I can imagine save file would be much at all.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Google sent me an email saying they want to collaborate with me. Has anybody got this mail from Google?

    Posted: 17 Nov 2020 08:09 AM PST

    I recently got this mail from Google;

    Hello,

My name is \****, I'm a Business Development Consultant at Google.*

I work in a team based in Dublin which specialises in Apps and collaborates with app developers.

We shortlisted your app as a potential app we can collaborate with and therefore I'm reaching out to schedule a call to share more information about our unique application program.

Please inform me of your earliest availability.

I've checked the address and it's not spam.

This mail doesn't give any details about anything really. Does anyone have any experience about this? I could really use some information beforehand.

A question for experienced devs: Could you build an app from muscle memory when you were at junior level?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 01:22 PM PST

This is a preconception I see a lot of students like me struggling with. Of course, I'm not talking about building some simple, single function application that rolled a die or something, but a larger project in MVVM or that uses certain libraries or makes API calls or whatever. So many people I see on subreddits like this, especially r/learnprogramming, get concerned with being able to just build something from muscle memory, as if they're not allowed to use Google or find a video or something to help themselves. Imposter syndrome, I suppose.

So, to amend my question: Could you actually build an app without help or guidance while you were at the junior level? I think the perspective will be important to people who are unsure of their ability.

    Thanks in advance.

SMS API for Kotlin Android apps?

    Posted: 16 Nov 2020 07:24 PM PST

    Hello!

I have been working on an app for a while now that is texts the user a message at a set time every day. However, it wasn't until recently until I tried to publish the app that I found out how Google almost never grants SEND_SMS permissions.

I've looked into Twilio before for apps as I've used it for some other purposes in the past, but after some research, it seems that the Twilio API wasn't meant for android apps. I tried to implement it in my app in the past but faced tons of issues.

Does anyone know of any free or cheap SMS APIs that I could use for my purpose?

I haven't been able to publish my app for several days now, so any help would be massively appreciated!

So I'm trying to make a checkbox and calendar date picker I also need a dialog box that displays the date and final cost of the detailing services, everything was going fine at first till I started to code in the check boxes. Now I can't get it to run its sort of driving me insane any ideas why its not working?
