    Limit recommendations to installed apps/services?

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 05:48 AM PDT

I installed the new Google TV launcher on my Shield using these instructions: https://www.howtogeek.com/693761/how-to-get-the-google-tv-ui-on-android-tv-devices-right-now/

It looks great, and I'm liking the new interface. The only problem I'm having is that a lot of the recommended movies and TV shows are from services I don't subscribe to and/or aren't installed on my Shield. For example, when I go to the "movies" tab, the big banners at the suggest movies from Disney+, HBOmax, and Starz. None of which I subscribe to.

I already went into the settings and made sure "My Services" were toggled on and the ones I don't use are toggled off, but it doesn't seem to have affected my recs.

Am I missing something or is google likely getting paid by Disney, Warner, etc. to promote their content/services?

Why is there no built-in Google Photos app?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 11:43 AM PDT

The only way to access photos, is to use voice to display photos, and then there is no control over what you are seeing. I want to be able to select my albums and specific photos.

Don't suggest a third-party app! Google should include an official app with Android TV.

Created this- thought it would help some. It is a shortcut for people who have sideloaded the Xbox Game Pass already and do not want want to go through multiple steps, just to open it. It will create a banner your collection of installed apps.Sideload, run & enjoy!

New Google TV device for travel use in a hotel room

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 08:18 AM PDT

Is it possible to use this in a hotel room? Specifically, out of the box options, not some sort of annoying workaround process. Does it have a browser to get past the hotel security/login page or possibly a process like the firesticks have? Sorry if this has been covered before.

    Stand-by Audio issues

    Posted: 08 Oct 2020 08:08 AM PDT

I have a Philips 65PUS8204/12. The last firmware update seemed to fix some issues, but now I have two new strange issues relating to stand-by and audio.

    1. Sometimes about 10 minutes after the TV has been put into stand-by, audio (sounds like a TV channel) comes on for about 20 seconds.
    2. Sometimes I come out of stand-by and there is no audio at all and nothing will get it back except power-cycling the TV.

    Mi box bug

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:53 PM PDT

Error. Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try to restart the Netflix application (-115)

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:14 PM PDT

I havent been able to open the netflix app on my smart tv (Hisense) for 2 days. Sometimes the error code number is different ex. -100 or -116 or something like that

We have tried deleting cache, deleting data, uninstall updates, unplug the tv for 5 minutes, pretty much everything. We cant sign out of netflix and re sign in because the error pops up instantly as soon as we open the app.

We have tried deleting the app but it doesnt say uninstall it just says disable which we have tried, then going to the app store, searching for netflix, then it doesnt say "install" it says enable which we click then install updates

We have tried force stopped google play services.

Our wifi works fine we can open youtube on the same tv and play 4K videos with no buffering. The netflix account works fine, we can open netflix on our phones and watch it there just fine.

If i try to cast from netflix on my phone to the tv it tries to open the app on the tv and gives us the same error code

The error code looks like an android popup, its not an error within the netflix app itself

I have tried resetting the entire tv but it asks for a pin which i never set so i cant

Can't install a specific game on Chromecast with Google TV

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 05:55 PM PDT

I'm having a strange issue. I was able to use and SD card with the Chromecast and install apps to it. However, Knights of the Old Republic(KOTOR) will not install because it keeps saying that there's not enough storage, even though there's plenty of space left on the 64GB SD Card.

I installed 10GB+ worth of apps on the SD Card, so I think the Play Store is obtaining the free amount of space from the internal storage instead of the SD Card. KOTOR is a large game so it might take more space than the internal storage has available.

    Anyone experiencing the same issue?

Chromecast with GoogleTV - CES does not work properly

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:19 PM PDT

    Hi,
Chromecast with GoogleTV is connected to a TCL TV via HDMI.
    The TV supports CEC.
In Android/Google TV setting CEC is enabled for power and volume.

The volume works in most cases, volume buttons on the remote control TV's volume. However if the Chromecast is turned off (with power button on Remote) and powered back on - The volume control stops working.

Additionally for Power CEC, chromecast turns off the TV when power button is pressed on the remote. However it does not turn it back on.

I think this could be happening if Chromecast is not broadcasting CEC signal for power and volume control post suspend/ sleep.
    Is anyone having this issue?

Chromecast with Google TV versus AirTV Mini

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 12:03 PM PDT

Hi there I am looking to add a few Android TV boxes to some TVs in other rooms. Would it be better to get the AirTV Mini since it is cheaper used than the new Chromecast with Google TV since one of the TVs is 1080p only and the other is a 4K set. My living room uses a Mi Box 4K.

    Thanks!

    CNBC App

Anyone know why the CNBC app isn't available for download. CNBC says the app is available on Android TV, but on my Sony 900h it is not available for download.
